Craig Rail has done all of the form for the Redwood Prelude Day at Maryborough

Race 1:
OVERVIEW: REGAL GALA (1) has enjoyed a terrific season having won four races. He followed a handy second in the Super Series Final with a win in the Tatlow Stakes so he will prove hard to beat. PHOENIX REX (5) produced a phenomenal performance after being severely checked on the first bend and coming from tailed off to win the Qbred Triad Final at Albion Park. He hasn’t been at his best form in two starts since returning to Victoria but he is extremely smart when he puts it altogether and he is the only horse in this race that has competed from the standing start previously. MAJARO GIRL (8) showed brilliant gate speed to lead, took cover and tried hard when second in the Tatlow Stakes last outing. She was a dominant winner in a mile rate of 1.58.8 at Melton prior and is worth an investment. KYVALLEY DIXON (6) produced a big finish to claim victory in the Super Series Final two starts ago prior to a fourth in the Tatlow Stakes. She is a classy filly and must be respected. INSULATOR (2) jumped to the front from the standing start when he won a trial at Melton on Tuesday so he rates as a value hope.
SELECTIONS: REGAL GALA (1), PHOENIX REX (5), MAJARO GIRL (8), KYVALLEY DIXON (6)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: MYDEEPESTDESIRE (7) has done very well at her two starts to date and deserves to break through for a win. She raced without cover throughout and went down fighting when a close second at Ballarat on debut then held her own in a fast final quarter of 27.9 seconds at her latest third. CHARLIE SEBASTIAN (6) began very quickly from a similar wide draw to find the lead when a close second behind Tombeur at Cranbourne last outing. He has been runner up in five of his seven starts to date and should give another forward showing. SWIM SUIT (8) was resuming since April when he worked home fairly well for fourth at Horsham on Monday. He should be fitter from that performance and is capable of running into a place. AMADA VILLMA (9) missed out narrowly after trying to lead throughout at Charlton two starts ago and has claims. The former New South Wales pacer KELLYS COMMOTION (10) was heavily supported but galloped when on debut at Newcastle so she must be kept safe.

BACK: MYDEEPESTDESIRE (7) – 1 unit (each way)
SELECTIONS: MYDEEPESTDESIRE (7), CHARLIE SEBASTIAN (6), SWIM SUIT (8), AMADA VILLMA (9)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: BETSY ANNE (6) possesses early speed and strikes a very suitable assignment here. She trailed the leader, was held up for a run at a vital stage and worked into third via the sprint lane at Kilmore last outing. TOUCHANDGO (5) didn’t have much luck when seventh at Ballarat last outing but his two efforts prior were sound and he is worth thought under these conditions. MISS AVENGER (2) settled on the markers, angled out three horses wide from the 600m and ran home fairly well for fourth when resuming at Kilmore. She should be fitter from that run and is worth a ticket each way. WHATSTHEGOSS (10) is a maiden from 31 starts but he has the ability to win races if he can mend his manners. He finished off well via an inside run when third at Ballarat two starts ago and could feature prominently if he delivers a fool proof display.

BACK: BETSY ANNE (6) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: BETSY ANNE (6), TOUCHANDGO (5), MISS AVENGER (2), WHATSTHEGOSS (10)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: CASTLES IN THE SKY (7) was having her first run since February without going to the trials when she attempted to lead throughout and battled on well for third behind Connies President at Horsham on Monday. She should have derived a lot of benefit from that run and is a good chance of working across with NEDZA THRILLER (6) early before finding the top shortly afterwards so she must be included amongst the leading chances. NEDZA THRILLER (6) led out then took cover when second behind the in-form trotter Boutika at Charlton then attempted to lead throughout when second at Ballarat. He appears to be the fastest beginner on the front line and should give another bold showing. ALLWATFUNJINGLES (10) has been finding the line nicely at his most recent performances and strikes a suitable assignment now so he warrants consideration. CHARLIE WALKER (8) performed below expectations when sixth behind Money Talks at Kilmore last outing but he led throughout at a Ballarat victory on September 02 so he is worth another chance.
SELECTIONS: CASTLES IN THE SKY (7), NEDZA THRILLER (6), ALLWATFUNJINGLES (10), CHARLIE WALKER (8)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: The manners of PURPLE MOON (6) will be the key to the result of this event. She galloped away and made up many lengths when a huge second behind Joe Lou three starts ago then broke stride at her next two attempts. She is clearly the horse to beat if she delivers a fool proof display. THE CHOOK (7) settled in the second half of the field and worked home well when second behind Aldebaran Denbay last outing. She is usually competitive against this class and looms as one of the leading chances again. CHILLHUNNYBUNNY (4) did well to score at Ballarat last outing after she parked on the outside of the leader throughout. She is likely to obtain a prominent position in the early stages and is worth thought again. SNICKERS EXPRESS (3) has been placed in six of his past seven starts and deserves to break through for a win. He did appear to have his chance when third at Ballarat last time out but this race is no harder so he is worth a ticket each way.
SELECTIONS: PURPLE MOON (6), THE CHOOK (7), CHILLHUNNYBUNNY (4), SNICKERS EXPRESS (3)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: ANTONOV (11) faces the back mark of 20m but he is a standing start specialist and is very versatile. He followed successive Maryborough victories with a sixth against strong opposition in the Geelong Cup last outing. NEPHEW OF SONOKO (10) ran a much sharper race when he dashed through the middle late and finished in fourth at Cranbourne last week. He has only been placed once this season but his last run was encouraging and this is his easiest assignment for some time. CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY (3) has commenced from big handicaps at his past two attempts and has performed strongly. He moves to the front line now and must be respected. BOUTIKA (1) continues to step up in grade but she has never raced better and is drawn to receive every chance. She pushed forward to find the lead and scored comfortably in a standing start event at Charlton last outing.
SELECTIONS: ANTONOV (11), NEPHEW OF SONOKO (10), CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY (3), BOUTIKA (1)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: ASMILEANDAWINX (10) prefers to race close to the speed so the barrier draw is a disadvantage but she is clearly the class runner of the field. She competed in a Metropolitan event when fifth at Geelong last week and she recorded mile rates of 1.55.1 and 1.55.7 in two recent Maryborough victories. ASSIGNED (9) worked to the front, backed off the tempo mid-race and finished off in slick final sectionals when he won at Kilmore on September 17. He took on a strong field at Shepparton last time out and appears to be much better placed against this class. ARTIST (2) is a brilliant beginner and is the likely leader. He worked hard to lead from a wide draw and had excuses at Ballarat last outing so he is worth another chance. ANIMADO (6) was placed at Melton behind Hiltons Spirit on September 09 and is better than his numerical form suggests. He is a possible improver under these conditions.
SELECTIONS: ASMILEANDAWINX (10), ASSIGNED (9), ARTIST (2), ANIMADO (6)
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: RANGER RICK (9), is a consistent pacer, which missed out narrowly behind Keayang Payton at Geelong two starts ago and followed with a fourth at Geelong, where he led out, took cover and was shuffled back on the markers. This event appears to be easier and he should run his usual honest race. STEEL THE MOMENT (6) was resuming since July when he was headed off at the start and was buried away on the markers at his latest handy finishing sixth behind Ultimate Vinnie. He should have benefited from that run and strikes a suitable assignment here. IMAGINATION ORO (2) progressed forward to find the lead and dominated her rivals when she scored in a mile rate of 1.56.3 at Terang. She is meeting a field of more depth now but she is drawn to give another forward showing. KATUNGA EXPRESS (8) will need luck from the inside of the second line but he ran a game race for third at Ballarat last week and is not without a chance.

BACK: RANGER RICK (9) – 1 unit (each way)
SELECTIONS: RANGER RICK (9), STEEL THE MOMENT (6), IMAGINATION ORO (2), KATUNGA EXPRESS (8)
Race 9:
OVERVIEW: JUSTLIKEDAVE (7) got a long way back from a similar wide draw and finished off hard when third behind Roblen Demon at Cranbourne last week. He was driven aggressively mid-race and put in a career best performance when a runaway winner at Cranbourne three starts ago and he looms as one of the leading chances again. TORQUE IN HEAVEN (6) is racing in peak form and should be competitive again. He has been defeated by Yankee Rain at his past two runner up performances but both times he finished strongly so he is capable of going one better here. TED BEAR (10) settled in the second half of the field and finished off solidly when second behind Our Pinup Girl in a mile rate of 1.55.7 at Ballarat last outing. He is starting to hit his peak form and should be finishing off nicely again. REGAL ROCK (4) is a fast beginner and races best when he is able to lead over the sprint distance so he has the conditions to suit him here. He pushed forward to find the lead and was run down over the final stages when third behind Wingate Guy last outing.

BACK: JUSTLIKEDAVE (7) – 1.5 units (each way)
SELECTIONS: JUSTLIKEDAVE (7), TORQUE IN HEAVEN (6), TED BEAR (10), REGAL ROCK (4)
