Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) is pleased to advise that under the State Government’s Open Premises Directions, fully vaccinated owners and patrons will be able to return to Tabcorp Park Melton harness racing meetings from Saturday night, November 6.

Racegoers will have access to dining and lawn areas under strict COVIDSafe conditions.

The return of spectators to racetracks is an exciting and important step in Victoria’s roadmap. We are focused on continuing to operate in a safe and practical way, with the health and wellbeing of our people and the communities in which we race central to this.

The introduction of a ‘participant bubble’ will ensure strict separation is maintained between raceday essential personnel (licensed participants with a horse engaged at a meeting and raceday officials) and owners/patrons. This will mean that owners and patrons are not permitted to visit the stalls at harness racing meetings until after November 26, and those inside the ‘participant bubble’ cannot attend areas on the racecourse that are open to owners/patrons.

Venues other than Tabcorp Park Melton have the opportunity to host fully vaccinated owners and patrons under the Open Premises Directions, however clubs will make their own determination and communicate accordingly based on their individual circumstances. Some clubs may elect to wait until November 26 before welcoming owners and patrons back to the course for a range of logistical reasons.
