From Poster Boy to Hurricane Harley, Ladies In Red and a host of Group 1 talent in between, Anne and Bill Anderson have meticulously built a world-class breeding operation.

A gifted eye for a brilliant broodmare and a knack for transforming those lines into outstanding racehorses, their Lauriston Bloodstock team looks well placed to again show their wares in Saturday night's TAB Breeders Crown finals.

Perfect In Pink, Somethin Bout Eily, Ladies In Red, School Captain, Ripp and Beach Villa are among their hopefuls on one of the great night's of Victorian harness racing, and the Andersons caught up with TrotsVision's Ryan Phelan for a special insight into how they do it.

"I've selected most of the mares, looked through their pedigrees, said 'yes, I like this one, I like that one', and then the same thing when it comes to the stallions," Anne Anderson said.

"I go through all the breeding, look at what that stallion might have left before, does it cross with one of my mares - yes or no. And that's how I work it out, I spend months on it. I'm a bit obsessed at times and then I put it away for a while, go back, have another look and see if I can find something different or something better.

"Bill's more interested in the racing side of it, I love the racing, don't get me wrong, and I can cheer and yell with the best of them, but I still get back to, yes I want to breed this way and I want to do this with the broodmares."
