HRV provides update after abandoned Breeders Crown heats

Four heats of the Breeders Crown Series for trotters were abandoned due to a power outage at Bendigo’s Lord’s Raceway last night.

As a result, all horses that were scheduled to contest those races – excluding scratchings – will advance to the finals on Saturday, November 16 at Melton Entertainment Park.

In the 2YO trotting fillies’ division, 12 acceptors will advance to the $50,000 final.

Following one scratching in the 3YO trotting fillies’ division, 13 acceptors will advance to the $60,000 final.

Harness Racing Victoria has elected to exercise rule 5.4 of its Racing Guidelines to allow an increased field limit for feature races.

The rule states: 5.4 The Chief Executive Officer may determine on occasions that a feature race will be conducted with an increased field limit.

HRV states that this is the most logical outcome for participants.
