Fresh from her recent Group One success, Ijustcantseeit will attempt to join a select sorority when she heads to Maryborough on Sunday.
The only filly in the field, Ijustcantseeit will take on the ‘boys’ in the Victoria Trotters’ Derby in a bid to become just the ninth filly to complete the Oaks and Derby double since the former was added to the calendar in 1981.
The Rebecca Morrissey-trained squaregaiter completed the first half of the equation in Melton a fortnight ago.
Lunar Lass was the first to achieve the feat in 1984, with Corrans Image (1990), Galleons Paradise (1997), Solar Fire (1998), Zesta (2002), Une Belle Allure (2017), Pink Galahs (2020) and Keayang Zahara (2024) following suit.
“It was a tough decision to race her in the Derby or in the Bracelet against her own sex, but I figured you don’t get many chances to go in a Derby,” Morrissey said. “This is going to be a huge test for her, but I’m sure she will do well.”
With Daryl Douglas to take the reins, Ijustcantseeit has drawn barrier three but slots into two with the removal of the emergency.
TAB Fixed Odds have the three-year-old midfield at $26, with Howdy Mate the $2.25 favourite from gate seven.
“It’s a good draw and gives Daryl the chance to settle her in a good position,” Morrissey said. “The big concern early is her behaviour at the start, as she can get worked up.
“Howdy Mate has drawn wide, but is the one to beat. I also rate Munny The Munster (barrier five) highly.”
