Just Believe has commenced the long process to get back home to Myrniong, with the horse now in the midst of quarantine in Europe.
It has been one month since Australia’s top trotter last raced in Sweden, and regular driver and co-trainer Greg Sugars provided TrotsVision viewers with an update on his star trotter during Saturday night’s Kilmore meeting.
Sugars said Just Believe spelled well following his brave second in the Norrbottens Stora Pris at Boden and that a fortnight quarantine stay in Germany had commenced early last week.
Following that, Just Believe will fly to Melbourne and complete two more weeks of quarantine before heading back to the stables of Sugars and Jess Tubbs.
“We’ve had regular updates while he was in Stockholm. We’ve got some lovely friends over there now that are looking after us and sending us updates very regularly,” Sugars said.
“The horse is in terrific order. He’s lucky, he’s had three or four weeks’ spell in far better weather than what he would have had back here.
“It’s probably worked out really good for him that he’s had a nice break before he makes the long trip home.”
Just Believe put Australian squaregaiting on the map with a great Swedish campaign that saw him bounce back from bad luck in his heat of Elitloppet to run placings in feature races at Östersund and Boden.
Sugars and Tubbs will now set their sights on winning back-to-back Inter Dominion Trotting Championship crowns in Queensland late this year.
