Le Belle Bijoux will be looking to harness her bouncy personality when she lines up in the Wagga Tradesman Accounting Pace at Melton on Saturday night.

The six-year-old finished fourth in last week’s Alabar Vicbred Metro Maiden Pace and has recovered well according to trainer Kari Males.

“She is going really good at the moment,” Males said.

The daughter of Bellas Delight has had nine wins from 72 starts and is often seen bouncing up and down pre-race.

“She is like that at home as well. She is not silly, but she just bounces up and down and that’s her little thing,” she said.

“When we walk her to the track at home there is this bounce. There is not a lot in it - that’s just her.”

What the eager mare has in personality she lacks in gate speed, according to the Bolinda trainer.

“What she has always lacked is a bit of high speed. She has always been quite tough. She has gotten tougher as she has got older, much like her mother (Bellas Delight),” she said.

“We have just had a lot of bad luck in draws. It has just been hard to get her into races. You just have to pick and choose your races. I think with a bit of good form in her lately, she has got a bit of confidence in herself.”

Le Belle Bijoux has drawn seven for the $15,000 event with Ewa Justice set to pilot.

“She has drawn out wide and she is going to need a bit of luck again,” Males said. “She goes very good for Ewa (Justice). I tend to drive her at home a lot and I think she does like a female driver.”

The AJ and BJ Tindale-prepared Better Exclusive has the pole (one), while last-start winners Maxnjax (Phil Chircop) and The Beach Fantasy (Julie Douglas) have drawn 10 and two respectively.
