Every Saturday, Ryan Phelan hunts for the most reliable locks to strengthen your multi bets. By analysing race maps, sectional times, and key trainer/driver combinations, he delivers sharp insights to add confidence - and a touch of excitement - to your harness racing, thoroughbred, or sports multis.

Each selection is rated with low, medium, or high confidence and includes a suggested place or win price. The goal? Minimise risk, maximise consistency, and stack the odds in your favour for a strong overall return.

Race 1 – 1720m Nevele R Stud Free For All

1/9 Cantfindabettorman – Chris Alford/Isabel Walsh

Cantfindabettorman finds himself in a suitable FFA after a solid campaign that’s included two wins. Freshened for this, he looks set to finish strongly off what should be a genuine early tempo.

Confidence: Medium     Rated Place Price: $1.40

Race 2 – 2240m Lamaros Hotel NMW Pace

2/9 Thestatesman – Chris Alford/Alison Alford

Thestatesman has been flying this prep despite his form not looking flash on paper. He’s consistently drawn poorly and often worked hard, including a brave effort parked in fast time last week. He follows through well here and should be charging late.

Confidence: High            Rated Place Price: $1.50

Race 3 – 1720m Haras Des Trotteurs Vicbred Platinum Trotting Mares Sprint Championship Final

3/9 Rubys Dream – Chris Lang/Chris Lang & Sonia Maher

Rubys Dream has climbed the ranks quickly with five wins from just eight starts. She beat hot favourite Mega Spur fair and square two starts back and meets her again here. Well worth another look at the better odds.

Confidence: Medium    Rated Win Price: $2.50

Race 4 – 2240m Breeders Crown Noms On Harnessweb Pace

4/2 Lincoln River – Kerryn Manning/Kerryn Manning

Market focus is on Justalittlesip and Jilliby Illuminate, but both face awkward draws. Lincoln River, down in grade and drawn well, seems forgotten by the market and could easily bounce back. A solid chance who maps well.

Confidence: Low           Rated Place Price: $2.00

Race 5 – 1720m Australian Pacing Gold Pace

5/8 Hez All Rock – Jackie Barker/Rebecca East

This shapes as the trickiest race of the night. Hez All Rock has been competing in tougher grade and now gets a soft draw. If the gaps open, he’s one of the better chances to feature late.

Confidence: Low       Rated Place Price: $1.60

Race 6 – 1720m Benstud Standardbreds Trot

6/1 Thunda Struck – Ewa Justice/Chris Lang & Sonia Maher

Thunda Struck is a brilliant beginner who can hold the lead despite early pressure. He strips fitter for his return from a wide draw and looks better suited here with the claim and a favourable map.

Confidence: Medium         Rated Win Price: $2.00

Race 7 – 1720m Aldebaran Park Trotting Mares FFA

7/6 Jilliby Ballerini – Jason Lee/Marg & Paddy Lee

Jilliby Ballerini has been a revelation this prep, going four-from-four — albeit against easier rivals. This is a rise in class, but her winning habit and professional manner make her hard to knock. She deserves respect.

Confidence: Medium     Rated Win Price: $2.00

Race 8 – 2240m Centre State Printing 2yo Trot

8/6 Elle Perfecto – Damien Burns/Damien Burns

Elle Perfecto continues to improve and comes off a career-best win last week. She steps up in trip and will need a genuine tempo, but if it’s on, she’ll be one of the strongest closers in the race.

Confidence: Low    Rated Win Price: $2.60
