Michael Stanley has labelled in-form A Fair Ol Dance a potential country cups horse following his dominant victory at headquarters on Saturday night.

The Burrumbeet trainer-driver scored an easy success with the progressive four-year-old in the Apco Pace as a raging $1.10 favourite.

Stanley rolled to the front early with the son of A Rocknroll Dance and was barely challenged on his way to a 5.7-metre triumph.

The win was the horse’s sixth from his past seven outings and easily his biggest stakes return in a career that spans nine victories from 18 outings.

“He’s always been a horse that has showed us a little bit of talent,” Stanley said.

“He ran through the Derby heats (and) never made the final, but he wasn’t that far away.

“We gave him a really good break at the end of his three-year-old year and he has come back in really good form.”

Stanley is predicting a bright future for the winner of more than $50,000 in prizemoney.

“He’s only an early four-year-old, we are only in October so he may not even be four by birth date yet,” Stanley said.

“The way he has progressed, I’m sure that he can have a good career in the lesser country cups or running through the grades at the metro level. I’m sure he will be more than competitive through the grades.”

Later on the Tabcorp Park Melton card, Stanley’s hot favourite Soho Nolita was beaten as a $1.40 chance in the Reward Distribution Pace Final, and then had Ryan Duffy steer Soho Sinatra to a seventh placing in the Alabar Vicbred Platinum Country Series B Final.

The feature on Saturday night was the Allied Express Blossom Lady.

Trainer Marg Lee had the numbers advantage in the $24,000 event with three runners and caused the upset with Keayang Shekitout ($17.50).

Emma Stewart’s favourite Nostra Villa endured a torrid run and was never in the hunt for victory, leaving driver Glen Craven to find the lead with Keayang Shekitout and then hold off the challengers for a narrow success.

The horse beat Glenn Douglas’ Valentina Brave by a neck, with Kerryn Manning’s Man Hands third.

Training honours on the night went to David Aiken, who scored a double with Raptors Flight in the Cogs Services Pace and Emerging Talent in the Alabar Vicbred Platinum Country Series B Final.

The women dominated in the sulky with Kima Frenning and Kate Gath both scoring winning trebles.

Frenning won with Freddy Funk (Hero Claiming Pace), Raptors Flight and Emerging Talent, while Gath scored wins with Kerford Road (DNR Logistics Pace, 4YO and older), Ymbro Wasted (The And We're Racing Podcast Vicbred Trot) and All Starzzz Megan (Reward Distribution Pace Final).
