More than $82,000 raised from massive Terang auction

Last Friday night’s fundraising auction in Terang was a huge success.

Brainchild of the Terang Harness Racing Owners’, Trainers’ and Supporters’ Group, the function was conducted in the club’s main dining room, with more than 200 items up for grabs.

Interested parties were also able to bid via text or social media.

The purpose of the auction was to attract as much money as possible to construct a training centre to support young and upcoming participants of the next generation and beyond.

A final count during the weekend revealed the event raised more than $82,000.

Goods sold during the auction accounted for $75,000, with the remainder coming via donations.

“Thank you for all the support and all the volunteers who gave their time,” Group spokesperson Marg Lee said. “Some great team work helped achieve amazing results.

“The support from the businesses and people who donated and then all the buyers was unbelievable…a big ‘THANK YOU’ to every one of them.

“We need young people to secure our future and others who can benefit from a training centre so our great club has a future.

“It has been a fantastic result and the committee of the Terang Harness Racing Owners’, Trainers’ and Supporters’ Group are extremely grateful.”

Lee also revealed several items are still available, with bidders encouraged to contact Paddy – 0458 922 066; Glen – 0437 177 648; Chris – 0429 954 265 or Marg – 0417 922 747.
