Power failure ends Geelong night early

Tonight’s Geelong trots’ meeting was called off after three races due to a power failure.

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards reported the news via Twitter at 8.10pm that the remainder of the program would be cancelled after a generator broke down causing insufficient lighting for safe racing conditions.

Luckily for connections of five-year-old trotter Lion Heart, the son of Danny Bouchea was able to break his maiden at start No.58 in Race 2, the Lara Lions Club Vicbred Maiden Trot.

Lion Heart had placed 21 times prior, but finally broke through for a well-deserved win for trainer Rebecca Morrissey and a jubilant reinsman Michael Bellman.
