Shepparton races off due to high temperatures, fire risk

There will be no harness racing in Victoria today with this evening’s Shepparton meeting cancelled due to the intense heat and fire risk in the region.

An “extreme” fire danger rating in the Northern Country part of the state and high forecast temperatures were the factors behind Harness Racing Victoria’s decision to call off the nine-race card.

This news follows the cancellation of today’s Horsham meeting due to similar concerns for horse and participant welfare.

Racing will resume in Victoria on Friday with Geelong’s eight-race card set to kick-off from 6.33pm.
