Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) and Tabcorp have again partnered to support the annual Team Teal campaign.

For the month of February – Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month – and until March 10, all women harness racing drivers wear specially designed teal pants to raise funds and awareness for the Women’s Cancer Foundation (fundraising for the Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG) – improving life for women through gynaecological cancer research).

HRV has unveiled an increased line-up of Team Teal official ambassadors consisting of Kerryn Manning and Jodi Quinlan (pictured bottom in silks and teal pants at Melton), Kate Gath (pictured right in teal silks), Monique Burnett (pictured below winning aboard Sioux West in the teal pants) and Jackie Barker (pictured below aboard Any Old Way in a monte in the teal pants). When ambassadors race during the campaign they wear teal promotional silks in addition to teal pants.

“The Team Teal campaign has been warmly embraced by all involved in our industry and HRV, which has backed Team Teal from the start, is proud to again support the vital work being done by the Women’s Cancer Foundation,” HRV CEO David Martin said.

“We’ll support Team Teal with a $200 donation every time a reinswoman wins a race in Victoria. We’ll also activate our marketing and media teams to promote the #GetRealSupportTeal message across all channels and encourage media partners to do the same.

“Having five wonderful participant ambassadors in Kerryn, Kate, Jodi, Monique and Jackie will ensure maximum exposure of Team Teal across the state.”

Quinlan is currently injured and won’t race during the campaign, but has been a strong advocate and ambassador for Team Teal since day one.

“While Jodi is unfortunately on the sidelines and we wish her a speedy recovery, she will still be an official Team Teal ambassador due to her passionate support of this campaign over several years,” Mr Martin said.

Tabcorp, also an avid supporter of the Team Teal message, has again vowed to match HRV’s $200-per-win commitment, meaning any win by a reinswoman in Victoria will result in a $400 donation.

“This is the fourth year we’ve backed the Team Teal campaign and we’re delighted to offer our support to the Women’s Cancer Foundation alongside our harness racing partners,” Tabcorp Executive General Manager – Wagering Andy Wright said.

“Financially we’re matching HRV’s donation each time a reinswoman takes out a race in Victoria throughout the campaign. An upcoming Sky Racing commercial will also help drive awareness.”
