Terrific Timmy set to shake the Rictor scale ahead of a return

Group 1-winning three-year-old Timmy Rictor is nearing a return to the track for the first time since last year’s Breeders Crown success.

The Emma Stewart-trained colt had a stellar juvenile season, winning five out of six races comprising a top-tier success.

Majority owner Robbie Doughty sees the son of Modern Art making his return in the near future.

“He is getting really close and from all reports from the training track, he is going well,” Doughty said.

The seven-month break was no more than an extended lay-off according to the Pascoe Vale owner.

“We just wanted to give him a big break and a bit of a spell, he had obviously done a fantastic job in his first preparation,” he said.

“We just gave him some time to keep growing and get stronger.”

Doughty, 42, has no immediate plans for the pacer.

“We haven’t set too many targets,” he said. “We are going to make sure he is fit, strong and sound and it’s sort of one step at a time.

“We are maybe two weeks away from a trial. See how he goes from there and we will push on.”

Timmy Rictor has amassed over $183,000 in his six starts.
