It will be a blockbuster long weekend of trotting at Maryborough and there are plenty of Trial File Blackbookers to keep an eye on.

Form analyst Craig Rail's found another handful to follow, including Loveformoney, who will contest Sunday's VSTA Ralph Ford Memorial 3YO Maiden Trot, one of 21 trot races to be held at Maryborough across its Redwood Carnival.

Loveformoney's crossed from Matt Craven to Sonya Smith and caught Rail's eye at her Bacchus Marsh trial when she won by 30 metres in a 2:02.2 mile rate.

She's one of three Blackbookers who will step out on Sunday, with Central Otago drawn for a pegs run in the Haras Des Trotteurs Victoria Trotters Derby and Tripod to start from the pole draw in the VSTA John Ashby Memorial 2YO Trotters Handicap.

They are among a Blackbook brimming with opportunities on a big weekend of racing. Scroll to the bottom to see all who've made the cut.

TRIAL REPORT 133

SHEPPARTON 21/10/21

Trial 1: - IMA DESTROYER began quickly and pushed forward to find the lead at the 1700m. He took cover at the 1500m and waited for the sprint lane. He accelerated nicely and was able to land the prize. It was a good hit-out for his performance at Maryborough on Sunday. VIOLETTA GIFT settled eighth on the markers and moved into the one out and one back trail at the bell. She finished off strongly late and she wasn’t fully extended so it was a good performance. She returns from a spell at Maryborough this afternoon and is not without a chance. ALDEBARAN PHOEBE gained a one out and one back trail early, pushed forward to find the lead at the 1500m and was run down over the latter stages but finished a close up third. It wasn’t a bad effort for a horse with such a low National Rating of 40. CMON CARL LEE led out, took a trail and was shuffled to three back on the markers. He moved into the running lane (1-2) at the quarter pole and came out wide on the turn to finish in fourth position. LOVE YOU GIRL (Love You – Spidergirl 1.56.8, $317,657) was fifth on the markers and followed behind CMON CARL LEE before angling out very wide on the home turn. She finished fifth ahead of DANCES, which ended up being four back on the markers. LOVE YOU GIRL is scheduled to make her debut on Redwood Day while DANCES is awkwardly drawn for her assignment this afternoon. LINDY GRACE (Bacardi Lindy – Tender Annie 2.3.9, $23,650) settled sixth on the markers and was held up for a run before being checked at the 100m. She is yet to be placed at the trials but she showed a bit of ability in that performance and she might run a bit of a race at Maryborough this afternoon. HI HO KYVALLEY settled seventh on the inside, moved up without cover at the 1100m and broke stride at the 100m. MILLEE broke stride 100m after the start and was tailed off early. She did well to tack onto the group but she yielded ground over the latter stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.1            Last Half: - 61.9                Margins: - 1m, 1m

Trial 2: - LETSGOBRO (Four Starzzz Shark – Electrical Storm) began quickly and was able to roll to the front. He ran along at a genuine tempo and was able to score comfortably in a handy mile rate of 1.58.4. He makes his debut at Cobram on Monday afternoon, where he appears to be a very good chance. JARRAD SAID (Well Said – Riviera Kiss 1.56.0, $47,270) trailed the leader early then was three back on the markers and came to the outside with 300m remaining. He tried hard for second with LIKAVEEEIGHT being third after having a soft run on the markers in fourth for the majority of the last lap. JARRAD SAID makes his debut at Cobram on Monday and showed enough in the trial to suggest he is a winning chance. SHIREEN (Western Terror – Melisandre 1.56.5, $9,493) was four back on the markers early but moved up without cover at the 1200m mark. She raced greenly but was able to angle in behind the leader with 900m remaining. She was fourth across the line with POCKET BLASTER (5 back markers) being in fifth. SHIREEN makes her debut at Swan Hill tonight but will take on a very handy field. SPOONTHEMOON (Bettors Delight – Stay And Play 1.55.5, $89,201) and ANYONEWILLDO (Western Terror – Morgan Abby 1.55.7, $118,050) both made errors and were tailed off for most of the trip. ANYONEWILLDO was very erratic at release point and was lucky not to cause carnage. Luckily, she was better behaved when fifth on her debut performance at Shepparton on Wednesday.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.4          Last Half: - 58.7                Margins: - 8m, 8m

Trial 3: - SAN CARLO started from the second line and settled in seventh position early. He moved forward without cover and kept on pressing ahead until finding the lead at the 1200m. He appeared to be in danger of defeat with 100m remaining but he kicked on strongly and got the prize. ALLSET was behind the leader early but got shuffled to four back on the inside mid-race. He raced very fiercely and moved up without cover from the 700m. He loomed as a threat with 150m remaining but may have peaked a little on his run late. He has drawn the pole position in the Swan Hill Mile tonight so he is not without a chance. SCORCHER led early, took a trail and ended up being three back on the markers. He held his ground in the straight and finished third. THINK ABOUT ME is resuming from a long spell at Melton tomorrow night. He is a quality horse when at his peak and he won the Wangaratta Cup during his last preparation. He was three back on the markers, moved to the front at the 1400m then took cover behind SAN CARLO. He lost ground over the latter stages and finished a distant fourth. EXPERIA was seventh on the markers and waited for the sprint lane before making up some ground late. BRALLOS PASS was five back on the inside and moved into the one out and one back trail behind ALLSET in the back straight on the final occasion. He finished ahead of WAYONBYE (6 back markers) and SHARMEY was last of the eight runners throughout. SHARMEY backed up for an eye-catching fifth at Shepparton on Wednesday night while WAYONBYE appears to be a value hope at Cobram on Monday.

Mile Rate: - 1.56.0          Last Half: - 56.3                Margins: - 2m, 8m

Trial 4: - IT’S A SWEET LIFE raced without cover, pushed forward to find the lead, pulled hard and raced greenly throughout the middle stages but still gained a victory with ease. She is a handy former New South Wales pacer and appears to be very promising. MOS LONDON settled five back on the markers, pulled hard and moved up without cover at the 600m. He battled on well in the run to the finish. NOBLE JULIA led out then took a trail behind the eventual winner and battled on fairly well to fill third spot. She galloped and was stood down to trial again when sixth at Shepparton on Wednesday. BET SHEZALADY (Betting Line – She’s Got It All 1.58.6, $13,841) began quickly and ended up being three back on the markers. She finished ahead of SHAKEN SANDS, which settled one position further back in the run. TEX GOES BANG settled seventh on the markers, moved away from the inside at the 600m and finished sixth. He followed with a sixth at Bendigo on Tuesday night and will race at Yarra Valley on Melbourne Cup Day where he is better drawn against a suitable field. CHANERO (Lombo Pocket Watch – Alcolism 1.58.0, $26,553) (6 markers) was second last and ANTIHERO was at the tail of the field for the entire journey.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.1            Last Half: - 57.6                Margins: - 12m, 4m

BLACKBOOKER: - Its A Sweet Life

Trial 5: - MALHANA MUSCLES stepped away well to find the lead and was always in control. His task was made a lot easier over the latter stages when CINKARI galloped and he ended up scoring by 50m. He competes against a stronger field at Cobram on Monday but has drawn favourably. CINKARI trailed the leader throughout, galloped on the home turn and remained in a gallop for the remainder of the journey. ALWAYS A DREAMER was slow away from her big handicap and gave away a big start. She was fourth early and moved around ABBIE (Majestic Son – Aldebaran Peggy) with 800m remaining. She was third for the rest of the trip. She is racing in a mobile start event at Maryborough on Sunday but faces a tougher task against the open class trotters. ABBIE was slow out and was a distant third on settling down. She was overtaken at the 800m and ended up finishing fourth. DIDN’T MIDGE broke stride at the start, went into a pace then galloped again so she was tailed off for the majority of the trip.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.5            Last Half: - 59.4                Margins: - 50m, 20m

Trial 6: - HI MANAMEISJEFF is a former New South Wales pacer, which recently joined trainer David Moran. He showed brilliant gate speed from barrier six to lead clearly, ran along at a genuine tempo and scored in a fast mile rate of 1.57.5. It was an impressive effort and he obviously has the ability to perform well in this State. BEACH MEMORIES settled in the running lane (1-3) and came out three horses wide from the 1200m. She finished gamely for second position and produced a very good performance. DIAMOND ECLIPSE began nicely and trailed the leader throughout. He battled on well for third in fast time and missed out narrowly at Bendigo on Tuesday night, which is a good indication that this trial is a strong form pointer. LET’S DIG IT settled sixth on the outside, came out three horses wide at the 1400m and moved into the death seat at the 1200m. He battled on well for fourth and he followed with a third at Bendigo on Tuesday night. HEADBANGER settled down last of the eight runners and finished on quite well for fifth. It was an eye-catching effort and a good form pointer for his effort at Cobram on Monday. COUNTRY MAJOR (Major Bronski – Mystic Bliss) was without cover early, progressed forward to find the lead at the 1700m and battled on well for third in a close finish. PADDINGTON CENTRAL was three back on the markers for the majority of the journey and pulled hard. He used the sprint lane and wasn’t far away in fourth position. He followed with a game second at Shepparton on Wednesday night and will compete again at Yarra Valley on Tuesday. UP THE ANTE gained a one out and one back trail, was left without cover momentarily, gained a one out and one back trail again at the 1300m and came out three horses wide at the 300m mark. He moved into the death seat at the 500m mark and finished off strongly to be beaten by a narrow margin. ANYWHERE HUGO settled third on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 300m and battled reasonably well for third. WISHINGNDREAMING settled three back on the markers, moved into the death seat at the 600m and battled on well for second position. She is an emergency for several races at Maryborough on Sunday. ABBRACCIAMI (Trixton – Another Starlet) showed plenty of ability and might be worth following. He led out then took a trail at the 900m then came to the outside with 150m remaining before hitting the line nicely. ALWAYS BELIEVE (Orlando Vici – Heavens Above USA) settled four back on the markers and finished fourth. STAIRWAYTOTHEMOON and RIGHT TURN CLYDE were second last and last throughout the entire journey.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.2            Last Half: - 60.13               Margins: - 3m, 3m

Trial 5: - COBBER was caught out three horses wide in the early stages and progressed forward to race without cover. He scored by a narrow margin but it was a very soft victory and he could have won by further. STORM STRIDE began quickly to find the lead, ran along at a genuine tempo and was headed by COBBER with 150m remaining. He found the winner to be too strong but to his credit, he kicked on very strongly in the run to the finish. He is racing at Cobram on Monday afternoon and he looks to be a strong winning chance. ARGH ME HEARTY settled fifth on the inside, moved into the running lane (1-2) at the 600m and came out wide on the turn. He ran home well for a distant third and it was a nice performance leading into his first up run at Yarra Valley on Tuesday. CAPTAIN COACH settled four back on the inside and finished fourth. BILLY JACK (Major In Art – Jilliby Jamila 1.59.8, $52,947) trailed the leader and finished fifth with FEISTY JANE (Pet Rock – Satimer Sunset) (3 back markers) being the last one to cross the line.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.2          Last Half: - 58.07               Margins: - Neck, 16m

Trial 6: - HARRY OVENS settled three back on the markers and moved to the outside at the 300m mark. He sprinted quickly over the final stages and scored nicely. He is meeting a handy field at Melton on Saturday night but he has claims based on that performance. DADNDAVE trailed the leader and used the sprint lane. It took him some time to hit top gear but he was matching the winner on the line. CRUZ began fast to lead and set up a good tempo but was collared when turning for home and finished last of the three runners.

Mile Rate: - 1.56.2          Last Half: - 56.93               Margins: - 3m, 7.5m

Trial 7: - CHILLER BAY began quickly to find the lead and ran along at a strong tempo. He has had four starts since coming from New Zealand but has already competed in two different States (New South Wales, Queensland) and when he next steps out onto the track, it will be three. He did show a lot of toughness across Tasman and he was very impressive in leading all of the way so he is worth following. IM EUGENE settled four back on the inside, moved into the running lane with 500m remaining and finished off solidly. CHOOZ REACTOR trailed the leader and tried hard over the latter stages, finishing a distant third. FRANCO REBEL settled three back on the inside and was under pressure from the 500m before yielding ground for fourth. SYMPHONY STRIDE locked wheels at the start and lost 30m before ending up being fifth on the markers. She finished fifth with GIGLIO being tailed off throughout after locking wheels early and almost coming to grief shortly after the start. SYMPHONY STRIDE will be looking for better luck at Yarra Valley on Tuesday.

BLACKBOOKER: - Chiller Bay

Trial 8: - HOPEFUL BEAUTY was out four horses wide early then three carts wide, moved up without cover and found the markers in third position at the 1100m. She angled to the outside with 500m remaining and produced a big finish to score nicely. She will be strongly fancied in the Matchmaker Mile at Maryborough on Sunday. BROMWICH was without cover early before running to the lead at the 1300m. He kicked on well in the run to the finish and missed out by a narrow margin. ANDOVER SUN led out then took a trail before switching back to the sprint lane. He was third across the line and finished well clear of the remainder of the field. NORMANDY BELLE was six back on the inside and gained a one out and one back trail at the 500m mark. She finished in fourth position with BUILDER BOB being in fifth after settling four back on the inside. He went to the line without being extended and he appears to be hard to beat at Maryborough this afternoon. PROSTHESIS settled down last of the seven runners and was able to run down VICTREE HILL (5 back markers, 1-2 at 500m) over the latter stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.3            Last Half: - 59.17               Margins: - 1/2Neck, 6m

Trial 9: - ALIENS EXIST settled four back on the markers, moved out three horses wide from the 300m and finished swiftly to win in fast time. TAY TAY trailed ALIENS EXIST every step of the way and finished second without peeling to the outside at the stage. She did appear to have a good kick left in the run to the finish and will be extremely hard to beat in the final event at Terang on Monday night. FIRST AND ERST attempted to lead all of the way and set up a reasonable tempo before being run down by the two classy fillies over the latter stages. MARMITTA settled three back on the inside, moved through to trail the leader at the 400m and came away from the inside on the home turn. She finished third in front of LETHERHAIRDOWN, which was trailing the leader before coming to the outside at the quarter pole. The trotter IM READY JET settled down sixth on the outside and finished ahead of MESSERATI, which was last of the seven runners throughout. IM READY JET is awkwardly drawn and will be competing against a strong field in the Peter Egan Free For All at Maryborough on Sunday but she boasts very strong form.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.4          Last Half: - 57.02               Margins: - 4m, 6m

MILDURA  25/10/21

Trial 1: - JAY MILLER began very fast to lead clearly in the early stages. He ran along at an even tempo and appeared to be strong at the finish, winning softly at the end by just under a length. SHALLOW POCKETS began well and trailed the leader, broke stride momentarily with 1000m remaining but was able to maintain the back of the leader and came to the outside at the quarter pole. He tried hard over the latter stages and beat the remainder of the field by a large margin but he was no match for the winner. MAJOR ZONE was without cover in the early stages, restrained to be last on the markers and worked into third again in the run to the finish. He is widely drawn against a reasonable field at Swan Hill this evening. LITTLE BELIEVER was four back on the inside, moved into the one out and one back trail but had to swing out wider on the track when TWO IN TENTS (Artspeak – The Whitney 2.3.2, $11,135) (3 back markers, without cover at 900m) broke stride ahead of him with 400m remaining.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.0            Last Half: - 61.8                Margins: - 2.5m, 15m

Trial 2: - SHADOW TERROR settled three then four back on the markers, came to the outside with 400m remaining and produced a big finish to score over the former New South Wales trained pacer THE MACH ARMY, which trailed the leader before angling to the outside approaching the home turn. Both horses are competing in the same race at Swan Hill tonight but will be meeting stronger opposition. ELIZABETHAN ERA was in the one out and one back trail early, switched onto the markers in last position and rolled into a distant third. She is competing in Race 11 at Mildura on Tuesday night. AGENT CALLAN began extremely fast and led clearly going around the first turn. He was racing very fiercely and started to tire when leaving the back straight on the final occasion. ARTISTICBUTNAUGHTY was without cover early and angled onto the markers to be three back at the 1400m mark. He was the last one to complete the course.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.0            Last Half: - 62.5                Margins: - 3m, 10m

Trial 3: - ITS NICHOLAS began well and enjoyed a nice run behind the leader. He came to the outside on the home turn and finished off best to win by a narrow margin. ALWAYS A CELEBRITY settled three back on the markers and moved into the one wide lane at the bell (1-2). He went through the middle in the home straight and finished off well to go down by a narrow margin. THOMAS HEIGHTS dropped back to third after setting the speed and copping some pressure mid-race. KATE KANARDLY gained a one out and one back trail before coming to the outside with 500m remaining. She beat home MEXICAN STANDOFF, which pushed forward to race without cover, pressured the leader and was placed under pressure from the 500m mark. All of the five runners that competed in this trial at competing on the huge program at Mildura on Tuesday night.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.9            Last Half: - 61.4                Margins: - Head, 2m

Trial 4: - METRO IMAGE began very quickly to find the lead and was running along at such a genuine tempo early that he had the field very strung out. He was never in danger of defeat, despite getting a little weary over the latter stages and was able to win by a large margin. It was a nice victory and he is ideally drawn at Mildura on Tuesday night but he is taking on a handy field first up. DAYSIE BROWN settled three back on the markers and finished off reasonably well for second with WHITE STAR VILLAGE filling third spot after coming out three horses wide from fifth on the home turn. DAYSIE BROWN returns from a spell in the opening event at Mildura on Tuesday and WHITE STAR VILLAGE is poorly drawn in Race 5. WOODY NIGHTSHADE settled four back on the markers, moved to the outside at the 600m mark and finished in fourth. OLLIE AND BROCK trailed the leader but broke stride with 500m remaining and finished at the tail of the field. Both horses will be competing in the Des Tobin Sound Pace at Mildura on Tuesday night.
