Into the Blackbook this week are Allshookup, Code Black, The Summer Cat and Kraze, and out go Mass Destruction, Max Delight, Nancys Boy and Ostapenko.

Allshookup is in to race on Tuesday in a heat of the Alabar Vicbred Super Series, which he may find a bit tough, but he’s worth following moving forward.

Here’s my summary from this week’s trials:

SHEPPARTON 06/06/19

Trial 1: - SURFSUP (Somebeachsomewhere – Thisiswhoiam 1.56.1, $36,384) began well enough to be second before working to the front going around the first corner. He then took cover behind WESTERN SONADOR (Western Terror – Refresh Me 2.0.7, $34,605) at the 1600m and was just able to get up and defeat that pacer via the sprint lane. DIESEL DON (Major Bronski – Hoppyjoe 1.56.6, $19,815) was last of the seven before moving away from the markers at the 1100m to race without cover. He continuously worked forward up to third and held his own in the latter stages. YARRAWONGA LASSIE (Heston Blue Chip – Leading Lady Lombo 2.1.2, $22,198) was the first to the markers before taking cover and ended up being three back on the markers from the 1600m. She finished fourth in front of ENCRYPTION (Rock N Roll Heaven – Still In Denial 1.56.3, $21,570), which settled four back on the markers. AMERICAN TRILOGY (American Ideal – Loving You 1.55.7, $97,229) was six back on the inside and beat home HESTY (Heston Blue Chip – Four Zoe 1.58.0, $18,440), which moved into the one out and one back trail from fifth in the back straight on the final occasion.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.9             Final Half: - 59.0               Margins: - Neck, 5m

Trial 2: - The outstanding trotter BIG JACK HAMMER has improved with every trial at his current preparation and appeared to be very sharp in his victory over the maiden pacers. He settled down sixth (1-2) and sprinted fast out three horses wide from the 500m. WESTERN CRISIS (Western Ideal – Christa 1.58.3, $28,897) trailed the leader AMERICAN SWEETHART (American Ideal – Crystal Reign 2.3.3, $33,714) and got through into second just in front of JANG PEL, which raced keenly in the one out and one back trail before making up some ground in the latter stages. AMERICAN SWEETHART finished fourth in front of CONCORDE DAWN, which raced without cover, COOLARAMA (3 back markers) and THREE ANDIES (Grinfromeartoear – Orphan Greek) was last on the markers throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.3             Final Half: - 58.0               Margins: - 8m, Neck

Trial 3: - It was a very slow beginning to this standing start trial but they all got away safely. DARK SECRET stepped to the lead and set up a slow tempo before getting away from his rivals in the final 400m. MYNAMESGRAHAM (Imperial Count – Strike Destroyer 2.5.3, $36,119) trailed the leader throughout and tried hard in the latter stages but was no match for the winner. VENKMAN (Wishing Stone – Shadows 2.6.8, $2,100) settled last of the four and even though defeated by a long margin in very slow time, he did extend nicely in the final 300m. DALTON (Bad Boy Truscott – Camp Fire Glow 2.11.2, $7,988) did everything right but finished a good distance away in fourth position.

Mile Rate: - 2.15.2           Final Half: - 60.4               Margins: - 12m, 16m

Trial 4: - MISSEDTHELASTRAIN trailed the leader and used the sprint lane to win the trial over ITSARAPT (Majestic Son – Rapt In A Rainbow 2.4.0, $24,650), which raced keenly in the death seat throughout.  BEEFOUR BACARDI (Bacardi Lindy – Beefour 2.9.5, $10,103) made an error at the 1700m and lost approximately 25m before tacking on. He finished strongly for third in front of DIZZYSJET, which enjoyed a nice trail throughout (1-1) and went to the line under a strong hold. VINDICATING (Tennotrump – Maori Sunshine 2.3.2, $45,075) finished fifth after setting up the tempo. DANCES was four back on the markers before being checked by the galloping BEEFOUR BACARDI, losing 20m. She tacked on and used inside runs throughout. DURANTEE (Majestic Son – Nirvana Castle) made a mistake in the score up and was tailed off throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.5             Final Half: - 61.1               Margins: - 4m, 6m

Trial 5: - MALCOLMS RHYTHM found the markers first then took cover behind SHELBY BROMAC shortly after the start with the unraced 5yo pacer NOMORELYING (Life Sign – Total Truth 2.0.2, $10,525) in third position. MALCOLMS RHYTHM peeled to the outside on the home turn and proved to be the superior sprinter in the dash up the straight. NOMORELYING held on really well to be beaten by 9m against horses of high quality.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.7             Final Half: - 57.1               Margins: - 1m, 8m

BENDIGO 09/06/19

Trial 1: - Abandoned

Trial 2: - PORTLY MACH settled four back on the markers before moving up without cover from the 700m. He moved up to join the leader CHOOZ REACTOR on the home turn and proved superior in the run to the finish. CHOOZ REACTOR finished a close second in front of LOLA MONTEZ (American Ideal – Shes Norma Jeane 1.58.8, $34,267), which dropped out to be five back on the markers early and followed PORTLY MACH all of the way. LIBERLAND (Pet Rock – Live Your Life) finished fourth after being three back on the markers throughout in front of DINO BELLINO (Pet Rock – The Perfect Mona 2.0.3, $4,620), which trailed the leader and RAANI (Changeover – Baracks Angel 1.57.4, $17,258) was tailed off after galloping 100m after the start.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.2             Final Half: - 58.2               Margins: - Neck, 5m

Trial 3: - LION HEART trailed the leader LAWMANS LOVE before angling to the outside at the 500m. He got the better of LAWMANS LOVE in the home straight and went on to win the trial. FLAMING FIVES dropped out to be last of the four and was doing good work late out wide on the track to finish a close up second. LAWMANS LOVE ended up in third from FETCH IT, which was three back on the markers before trailing the leader when LION HEART made his move.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.9             Final Half: - 61.4               Margins: - 3m, Neck (approximately).

Trial 4: - It was only a field of four and they settled in single file with OUR DOREEN DAYS leading from PLAYING THE ACE, JOEZAC and AMERICAN TIGER, which was given plenty of time to balance up. PLAYING THE ACE was the first horse to make a move with 500m remaining and quickly got the better of OUR DOREEN DAYS. JOEZAC followed and pounced on PLAYING THE ACE in the home straight to win drawing away. AMERICAN TIGER was doing his best work at the end and got into third position without being pushed.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.2             Final Half: - 58.5               Margins: 3m,5m

Trial 5: - KRAZE (Crazed – Karamboo 2.3.1, $78,197) is creating a good impression at the trials and is worth following. He has been running home stylishly from off the speed but in this event, he led and was completely dominant, running home in a fast quarter of 28.7 seconds. That is a good effort for a juvenile trotter. VINCENT KAI (Bacardi Lindy – Subitize 2.9.7, $6,106) angled in behind KRAZE just after the start and lost ground in the straight but remained in second a long way clear of JEDSTAR (Imperial Count – Tangalan Jack 2.5.6, $43,090), which settled three back on the inside.  DYNAMIC DIESEL (I’m Stately – Hilltown Ashley) lost ground when SELF EXCLUSION (Orlando Vici – The Sun Goddess) galloped in front of him in the early stages but he continued to lose ground in the final half of the event. SELF EXCLUSION was tailed off throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.7             Final Half: - 60.9               Margins: - 15m, 30m

BLACKBOOKER: Kraze

AMUNET (Majestic Son – Melpark Sunrise 1.59.0, $121,390) has had a few trial performances recently. She is out of the fine race mare in Melpark Sunrise and finished second behind a smart one in this trial performance. QUEEN OF EURASIA (Bacardi Lindy – Maori Missile 2.4.6, $1,203) has also had a few trial efforts over the past month and she finished last of the three.

Trial 3: - ASHINCHARGE won at Bathurst at her debut but finished unplaced at her first three Victorian attempts. She has now joined trainer Denis Grieve and she was able to win her trial over TREMBITA, a sister to the winner of the first trial in Miss Twinkle. NELLIESLITTLEANGEL (B G’s Folly – Kialla Mist) was the only horse in the trial that is yet to go to the races and she finished last of the three.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.5             Final Half: - 60.3               Margins: - 1m, 30m

Trial 4: - The Final trial only boasted two runners, the C4 assessed pacer SPIC AND SPARKLED, which has won 5 of her 17 starts and the C2 assessed THE LONE DANCER, a winner in an impressive mile rate of 1.56.3 in July 2018. SPIC AND SPARKLED won the trial narrowly and the time for the final half was sound.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.4             Final Half: - 58.7               Margin: - Head

Mooroopna 09/09/19

Trial 1: - HIGH FLUX (Auckand Reactor – Yokas 1.58.7, $53,096) won the opening trial. Mile Rate: - Not Given  Final Half: Not Given     Margins: - Not Given

Mildura 09/09/19

Trial 1: - CARAGGIO ESCAPEE led from the pole position and extended nicely in the latter stages to win by a large margin. POPNPENNIES (Village Jolt – Object Model) trailed the leader throughout and was being reigned up from the bell to hold her position but was able to hold down second. MALLEE JET (Dawn Ofa New Day – Forget The Frills 2.3.8, $6,060) settled three back on the markers and finished in third position. CHEDDARS TREASURE raced keenly without cover before yielding ground from the 700m. EBONY WALTZ (Union Guy – Sally Dark Moon) made a slight error in the latter stages of the score up and was last throughout. She was retired from the trial in the back straight on the final occasion.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.4             Final Half: - 61.9               Margins: - 25m, 5m

Trial 2: - THE BLUE WREN progressed forward to take the lead away from MISSENCHANTED after 300m and always appeared to be in control. She drifted out a little in the latter stages but she was able to hold off her rivals in the run to the judge. FRANKNTANK settled four back on the markers and was doing his best work at the end, grabbing second on the line. ELPINE SALLY gained the perfect passage through from three back on the markers as MISSENCHANTED angled to the outside approaching the final bend then lost ground. IAMTHEFIRECRACKER (Betterthancheddar – Elixir 1.55.1, $231,180) finished last of the five but he showed ability. He galloped approaching the first turn and was a distant last before tacking on and moving up without cover. He broke stride again with 600m remaining.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.9             Final Half: - 60.0               Margins: - 2m, 1.5m

Trial 3: - PRETTYPUD angled in behind the leader LOCHSTER around the first corner and enjoyed a great run in transit. He angled out three horses wide on the home corner and finished off best to win nicely. LOCHSTER held down second in front of LIVINGINTHESHADOW, which settled three back on the markers before moving into the death seat at the bell. CAMS VICTORIES and ROMAN SPIRIT were fourth and fifth throughout and finished in that order.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.0             Final Half: - 60.8               Margins: - 3m, 2m

Trial 4: - COOLNCALM produced a handy performance to win the trial. She led early but copped pressure from MISS SUGARANSPICE before taking cover at the bell. She was shuffled back to third shortly afterwards and came out wide from the 400m to sustain a winning run. GOLDEN SCRIBE settled third before moving onto the back of MISS SUGARANSPICE momentarily approaching the bell lap. Once MISS SUGARANSPICE found the lead, GOLDEN SCRIBE quickly progressed to take over. He kicked on strongly when challenged in the straight. MISS SUGARANSPICE was left stranded without cover and raced fiercely throughout. She eventually found the markers then took cover but the early effort took a toll and she tired late. CLEVER THINKER galloped away and lost valuable ground. He did a good job to tack onto the group but he started to feel the pinch from the 500m mark.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.0             Final Half: - 61.4               Margins: - 1m, 35m

Trial 5: - GOODTIME JEZZ settled last of the five runners before steadily progressing forward in the death seat over the final lap. He hit the lead before the home turn and drew away in the straight to win easily. MISSUS APPLEBEE was three back on the markers and angled into the trail behind GOODTIME JEZZ at the 600m. She couldn’t hold the back of GOODTIME JEZZ in the latter stages but she defeated the others comfortably. RHYFLECTIVE led out then took cover behind VE RAPIDO approximately 300m after the start. He ended up in third position in front of SWEARENGEN, which settled fourth and followed the markers until turning for home. VE RAPIDO tired after setting the pace and finished at the tail of the field.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.3             Final Half: - 61.2               Margins: - 15m, 10m

Trial 6: - PENNY SNATCHER rolled along in the lead over the 2190m and even though she paced roughly turning for home, she remained strong at the finish. She is better known as a short course performer so it was a very good trial victory. TIPPITINYA restrained to be last of the four runners and gave away 20m start to PENNY SNATCHER when he angled out to make his run at the 600m mark. He picked up a lot of ground to run a nice second. URELLA FELLA finished third after trailing the leader and JUST SAYING started to yield ground from three back on the markers at the quarter pole.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.9             Final Half: - 59.7               Margins: - 1.5m, 25m

Maryborough 09/09/19

Trial 1: - IMPRINCESSGEMMA began very quickly from a wide draw to find the front and was always in control, winning with something in reserve. A KERRY MAN also showed gate speed and trailed the leader throughout. He finished second in front of JILLIBY DYSON, which settled fifth and moved up without cover from the bell. INAUGURATE was three back on the markers throughout and finished fourth in front of TOUCH OF ARMBRO, which settled last and moved into the one out and one back trail from the bell. LETS JAZZ IT UP finished at the tail of the field after racing four back on the markers throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.1             Final Half: - 57.6               Margins: - 4m, 4m

Trial 2: - CAUSING STRIFE settled down in sixth position (1-2) before coming out three horses wide from the 1100m and sustaining a long run. She was strong at the finish and easily held out the challenge of GRACIE CULLEN. GRACIE CULLEN led out then took cover behind IT’S A BORG at the 1800m. She came to the outside on the home turn and chased hard in the straight. Both the winner and the second horse seemingly had more left to give at the finish. SHARK LUCK (Four Starzzz Shark – Delwyns Daughter 1.58.2, $11,650) settled four back on the markers and was last of the seven. He finished off stylishly for an eye-catching third. IT’S A BORG finished fourth, well in front of GOTONEBETTOR (3 back markers), ROUGH CUT (1-1) and last week’s long shot winner SEEMEPEARLYWHITES tired back to the tail after being left in the death seat from the 1800m.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.7             Final Half: - 58.9               Margins: - 3m, 6m

Trial 3: -

AERODYNE GUY went forward and tried to find the lead from TRIPLE ZED (Four Starzzz Shark – Spirit of Smooch) but had to be content to race without cover. He sat in the death seat throughout and was still able to win the trial so he took the honours. MAJOR BANKS (Major Bronski – Bed and Bank 2.3.2, $2,250) was one out and one back behind AERODYNE GUY before moving around to find the lead from TRIPLE ZED at the 1400m. He tried to hold out AERODYNE GUY in the run to the post but was denied at the finish. CARRAMAR CEE SMITH (Well Said – Choctaw Annie 2.0.8, $7,394) galloped momentarily around the first bend but didn’t lose much ground. He was three back on the markers for the majority of the trial and ran into a distant third ahead of TRIPLE ZED.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.8             Final Half: - 61.0               Margins: - Nose, 10m

Trial 4: - SPEEDWAY QUEEN trailed the leader in the early stages before working to the lead at the 1400m. She had a good lead turning for home and held her advantage in the straight. CEEJAY SUCCESS settled four back on the markers and was still last on the home turn before powering home at the finish. She could have finished much closer. INSATIABLE GEM (Tennotrump – Jewel Of The Night 2.6.0, $72.065) led out then took cover in the back straight on the first occasion. She finished third in front of PIESRIDINGSHOTGUN (Danny Bouchea – Biggies 2.7.1, $28,806), which raced three back on the markers for most of the journey.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.8             Final Half: - 63.9               Margins: - 8m, 3m

Trial 5: - MAJESTIC PRIDE rolled along at a genuine tempo in the lead and never looked like being defeated. PEREGRINE PHOENIX trailed MAJESTIC PRIDE throughout and held her own in the latter stages to finish second.  THE SUMMER CAT settled three back on the inside and finished third. The nicely bred gelding galloped at all of his four starts last preparation and is now with trainer Michael Gadsden. He chased home two proven winners in handy time so he might be worth following.  WHIRILY ROLLS (Roll With Joe – Formalize) is out of a daughter to the top mare Sabilize USA (1.55.7, $355,056), which finished second to Chokin in the 1993 Miracle Mile and third to Iraklis in the 1996 version of the great sprint race. She settled four back on the markers and lost ground before the home turn, eventually galloping at the 250m mark. JUST STELLA MAGIC (Goodboytruscott – Sharendoo Lass 2.6.8, $70,887) galloped shortly after the start and was tailed off throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.9             Final Half: - 60.0               Margins: - 6m,4m

BLACKBOOKER: - The Summer Cat

Ballarat 11/06/19

Trial 1: - Abandoned

Trial 2: - It was a small but quality field for the 2yo pacers with the Home Grown Classic winner MAAJIDA and the runner up ARTEMEDE filling the Quinella positions again. MAAJIDA led out, took cover behind YEJELE HAMMER then circled around to find the lead again at the 1400m. She won with something in reserve. ARTEMEDE was three back on the markers for the majority of the trip and came out three horses wide on the home turn. She finished quickly for second in front of YEJEE HAMMER, which worked to the front then took cover, although he wasn’t quite following the markers for most of the trip. The unraced filly SAPPHO (Sportswriter – Custom Franco) was last of the four throughout but considering the quality of the field, she did a good job to finish as close as she did.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.8           Final Half: - 56.6               Margins: - 2m, 3m

Trial 3: - It was another quality trial with the in-form pacer WATCH LIST securing the victory. He trailed the leader and stable mate SINGLE TREE ROAD and gained an inside run when she shifted out in the home straight. He did show very good acceleration in the run to the finish. SINGLE TREE ROAD held on for second from KUALOA, which settled three back on the markers and came to the outside at the 400m. NOSTRA BEACH raced last of the four runners throughout. The final half was run in quick time and it didn’t seem that any of the horses competing were fully extended.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.4           Final Half: - 55.9               Margins: - 1m, head

Trial 4: - LIFTNTORQUE began quickly to lead and raced keenly throughout. He showed good acceleration to establish a clear margin on the home turn and held that advantage in the straight to win easily. NOSTRA VILLA was last of the three behind PIN STRIPES until coming away from the markers turning for home. He finished off nicely in a slick final half to grab second.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.0           Final Half: - 55.2               Margins: - 6m, 3m

Trial 5: - CODE BLACK has clocked up a lot of frequent flyer points throughout his career and is now with leading trainer Emma Stewart. He hasn’t started since a second in the Sydney Cup at Bankstown in April 2018 and he was very impressive in winning his trial. He was caught without cover early before slotting in behind the leader ROCKNROLL ICON at the 1600m. He circled into the lead with 600m remaining and appeared to beat a strong field with something in reserve. SOHO TRIBECA ended up being three back on the inside and moved away from the markers in the back straight on the final occasion. He held down second without being fully extended. FORM ANALYST followed SOHO TRIBECA for the majority of the journey and almost wore him down late. AMERICAN ZEST came from last and finished off boldly out wide on the track for fourth, which was a very good effort for a C6 assessed pacer against top opposition. ROCKNROLL ICON showed good gate speed to lead but raced fiercely and set up a hectic tempo before yielding ground with 600m remaining.

Mile Rate: - 1.56.1           Final Half: - 58.0               Margins: - 3m, head

BLACKBOOKER: - Code Black

Trial 6: - READY TO SHINE was able to comfortably work across RAVE ON HALL to find the lead and was untroubled in scoring. RAVE ON HALL lost ground at various stages in behind the leader before picking up again. He did lose the back of READY TO SHINE in the latter stages however and finished a distant second. NORQUAY galloped at the start and lost 30m. She appeared to be a chance of finishing ahead of RAVE ON HALL on the home turn but she broke stride again in the latter stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.10.4           Final Half: - 61.7               Margins: - 15m, 12m

Trial 7: - This trial changed complexion with 400m remaining. EGEE MONEY led and was going to win the trial by a large margin but broke stride, losing valuable ground. She motored to the line once she recommenced trotting and picked up about 30m on the eventual winner HALLABOUTME in the home straight. It appeared as though HALLABOUTME, which trailed the leader, was going to finish last of the three but READYFORACTION galloped when it was about to roll into second position at the quarter pole.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.0             Final Half: - 64.7               Margins: - 15m, 50m (approximately)

SHEPPARTON 11/06/19

Trial 1: - ILIKEMEBETTOR competed in the Australian Pacing Gold Final at his latest attempt so he is a horse with plenty of ability. He settled down in eighth position (1-2) before making a quick dash around the field to find the lead at the 1500m. He established a big lead before the home turn and was untroubled in winning. ALLSHOOKUP (A Rocknroll Dance – Ballandella Baby 1.57.7, $84,000) produced an eye-catching trial performance and is worth following. He settled four back on the markers and finished off boldly to make up many lengths on ILIKEMEBETTOR in the home straight. JULIACA was six back on the markers and picked up ground via the sprint lane to run into a distant third. SURFSUP (Somebeachsomewhere – Thisiswhoiam 1.56.1, $46,384) finished fourth after being five back on the markers throughout in front of CONCORDE DAWN (1-1) and ASHER ABBEY (3 back markers). IMNOPUMPKIN (Art Major – Miss Madoff 1.56.9, $118,308) led out then took cover at the 1600m and finished seventh in front of DALLAS CHARLIE (Heston Blue Chip – The Irish Princess), which raced in the death seat. VINIANA (All Speed Hanover – Fijian Smile) galloped at the start and was retired from the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.5             Final Half: - 58.5               Margins: - 8m, 30m

BLACKBOOKER: - All Shook Up

Trial 2: - There were only three horses contesting the standing start trotting trial and DALTON (Bad Boy Truscott – Camp Fire Glow 2.11.2, $7,988) galloped away, losing all chance. MISSEDTHELASTRAIN led and set up a slow tempo with DARK SECRET trailing. DARK SECRET was able to win in the dash up the straight, getting up in the last stride.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.6             Final Half: - 60.6               Margins: - Nose, Dist

Trial 3: - GOLDEN SAND (Somebeachsomewhere – Fususi 1.59.2, $180,305) pushed forward and worked to the front passed the early leader AXINITE with THE TIGER ARMY being three back on the markers. AXINITE came to the outside as the field turned for home and THE TIGER ARMY used the sprint lane. They both closed in on the leader late but GOLDEN SAND was just able to hold on. AXINITE finished second ahead of the Leeton Breeders Plate winner THE TIGER ARMY. EXCITER settled three back in the running line and appeared to be a threat in the initial stages of the home straight before holding his own late. LOST FOR WORDS came from last of the nine and picked up ground for fifth. A quick search for his form line will show LOST FOR WORDS last raced at Harold Park in June 2003 and was the winner of seven races but of course the Wayne Lear trained 3yo in this trial is not the same horse. The open class trotter KHEIRON sat in the one out and one back trail and finished sixth in front of CLASSIC ARC (Art Major – Classic Life 1.58.1, $28,605), which raced five back on the markers. BEE GEE CEE made an error at the 500m mark when four back on the markers and he showed a bit of speed and ability in the final 100m when making up good ground. TWEET ABOUT IT was last of the nine runners after being left stranded in the death seat.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.9             Final Half: - 58.8               Margins: - Neck, 1m

Trial 4: - It was a quality trial and a strong tempo was set by various leaders. THREE SUMMAS charged out to lead JIMMY LOCKE early before SHE KEEPS COMING moved up to challenge. No sooner had SHE KEEPS COMING found the front than BETTERNBETTER extricated from the markers and had a crack for the lead, finding that position at the 1500m. At that stage of the event, the field of seven settled in single file with the order being BETTERNBETTER from SHEKEEPSCOMING, THREE SUMMAS, JIMMY LOCKE, CATCH A MOMENT, LETSTROCKLETSROLL and HEREHECOMES was last. JIMMY LOCKE was the first to make a move coming out of the back straight with CATCH A MOMENT following. JIMMY LOCKE quickly worked passed BETTERNBETTER on the home turn but CATCH A MOMENT pounced and drew away to win impressively. THREE SUMMAS worked into third with SHE KEEPS COMING using the sprint lane for fourth but her momentum was halted by BETTERNBETTER being overtaken just as the field turned for home. BETTERNBETTER held on to fifth in front of HEREHECOMES and LETSLOCKLETSROLL in a trial where several future winners may be produced.

Mile Rate: - 1.57.6           Final Half: - 58.3               Margins: - 4m, 8m

Trial 5: - ITSARAPT (Majestic Son – Rapt In A Rainbow 2.4.0, $24,650) began very quickly and pulled his way to the front. He raced a little keenly throughout but was able to hold off the late challenge of BEEFOUR BACARDI (Bacardi Lindy – Beefour 2.9.5, $10,103), which trailed him from the start. DARK CLOUD settled three back on the markers and lost ground late but he is a juvenile trotter whereas the leading duo are 3yo’s. DANCES galloped shortly after the start and made up some ground in the final circuit. COMANDANTE (Majestic Son – Castleton Command 2.7.3, $9,600) settled in fourth but he was never hard on the back of the horse in front and he broke stride with 900m remaining. BUILDER BOB galloped away and was last throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.4             Final Half: - 62.4               Margins: - 1m, 25m

Melton 12/06/19

Trial 1: - The four trotters all stepped away from the standing start safely. ABITOFADREAMER (Used To Me – My Dreamweaver $33,763) worked to the front and established a good lead in the back straight on the final occasion. ITSALLANDOVER (Andover Hall – Access To Success $9,402) trailed the leader and quickly closed the margin on the home turn but couldn’t get passed his stable mate in the latter stages. BULLION LADY settled last and was slightly inconvenienced when PRINCE OF LIGHT galloped at the 700m. She chased hard from that point but finished thirteen metres from the winner with PRINCE OF LIGHT being tailed off.

Mile Rate: - 2.10.0           Final Half: - 61.11             Margins: - 2.5m, 10.5m

Trial 2: - BIT OF A DREAM settled four back on the markers and moved into the one out and one back trail from the 1300m. She was left stranded without cover when HOMELAND galloped at the 900m but she was quickly able to get the better of the early leader IMPLODE on the home turn and scored comfortably. DIAMOND CULLEN trailed the leader for the majority of the trial and worked away from the inside on the home turn to follow BIT OF A DREAM, finishing on reasonably well for second. MOLLYWOOD settled down in sixth position before finding the one out and one back trail from the 900m. She finished third in front of IMPLODE, which pulled his way to the lead early but seemed to settle a little better once in front and following the markers. The trotter PHARISEE settled last on the markers and picked up some ground in the latter stages. HOMELAND shot out of the gate to lead then took cover behind IMPLODE. He proceeded to pull extremely hard so he extricated into the death seat. He was still going keenly before breaking stride at the 900m and dropping back to last (1-2). He was able to beat THE DORSAL FIN, which was the only maiden performer in the trial, to the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.9             Final Half: - 60.07             Margins: - 5.5m, 8m

Trial 3: - GERRON (Used To Me – Pretty Peggy Sue) was the first to the markers before taking cover behind IMAMAORIJET (Quaker Jet - Sumthingaboutmaori 2.0.9, $461,499). He circled around to find the lead again at the 1700m and was a dominant winner. IMAMAORIJET held down second from the trail with IM READY JET (Quaker Jet – Im Ready Set 1.56.6, $69,031) finishing third from three back on the markers. NO BIGGIE (Wishing Stone – No Restraint 2.4.8, $12,756) was fifth in the single file order and came out three horses wide to get around RUM JUNCTION (Bacardi Lindy – Virginniaconnection 2.9.8, $4,770) (four back markers) approaching the home turn. AUNTY ETHAL (Pegasus Spur – Gordon Idol) was slowly into stride and remained last throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.8             Final Half: - 62.21             Margins: - 12.5m, 2.5m

Trial 4: - There were many changes throughout the trial but the winner WESTERN DEBT was given a glorious run by Zac Phillips. She speared out to lead early, took cover behind MAESTRO BELLINI, was shuffled back to fourth, gained the one out and one back trail at the 700m then switched to the sprint lane to save ground in the early stages of the straight. MAESTRO BELLINI pushed forward to find the lead before taking cover behind IRISH PLAYER at the 1600m. He ended up being three back on the markers when MAXINES DELIGHT took on the front running role before he moved into the death seat at the 700m. He boxed on well for second just in front of MAXINES DELIGHT. SAHARA TIGER settled midfield and trailed forward behind WESTERN DEBT in the final circuit. He appeared to be a winning chance on the home turn but held his ground in the straight. LOUIS SEDGWICK finished fifth when coming from second last on the markers in front of BE NOT AFRAID, which was behind the early leader WESTERN DEBT early before being shuffled right back. IRISH PLAYER tired into seventh after going very hard in the back straight on the first occasion and STAROFSAHARA was last throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.1             Final Half: - 58.12             Margins: - 1.5m, 1/2head

Trial 5: - BE MAJOR THREAT pushed forward to find the lead before taking cover behind FORTY THIEVES. JUST SAY GO was three back on the markers before making a move at the bell and found the front, which pushed BE MAJOR THREAT one position further back but he was able to sprint quickly from third at the 300m to win the trial. JUST SAY GO was just able to cling onto second in front of FORTY THIEVES. HEZA BROMAC settled last of the five and came out wide approaching the home turn. He was doing his best work at the end to finish ahead of GOZO LIGHTING (4 back markers).

Mile Rate: - 2.0.3             Final Half: - 57.89             Margins: - 5m, Nose

Trial 6: - GUN SLINGER (Muscle Hill – Shezoneoftheboyz 2.2.5, $91,849) wasn’t very fluent in his action on the wet track but he impressed again with an easy victory. He settled down third before circling into the front running role with 1600m remaining. KAUDO pushed passed WILCANNIA (Andover Hall – Wheels To Go) to find the lead before taking cover. He moved away from the markers at the 400m and got within a length of GUN SLINGER. He wasn’t going to win the trial but he would have finished closer had he not broken stride in the latter stages. WILCANNIA held down third in front of ELECTROJET (Quaker Jet – Sassy Pinevale 1.57.6, $176,195) despite galloping in the final 80m.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.3             Final Half: - 62.52             Margins: - 29.5m, 13.5m

Trial 7: - STAGGER LEE settled three back on the markers and sprinted sharply from the 500m to hit the lead on the home turn. He sustained the run and won the trial comfortably. MY GENERAL LEE trailed STAGGER LEE throughout and finished off well for second. CAPTAIN BRONZIE trailed the leader SOLARSONIC and got up for third with SOLARSONIC yielding ground from the home turn.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.1             Final Half: - 57.12             Margins: - 2.5m, 7m

Trial 8: - There were many moves in this trial with five of the seven horses all having some time in the front running role. The horses in the leading role in order from the start to the bell lap were SAFE JEWELS, IDEALLY AMERICAN, HIGHCLERE, LETHAL LOVER and ROCKIN THE TREND. From the bell ROCKIN THE TREND led, DIEGOS DIAMOND (Courage Under Fire – Diamondadywallorel 2.0.5, $17,355) raced in the death seat, LETHAL LOVER (Pet Rock – Lethal Kiss 2.4.3, $29,108) trailed the leader, NOTORIOUS JOE (Roll With Joe – Legal Art) was fourth on the outside, HIGHCLERE (Art Major – Rhodium Castle 1.57.7, $89,165) ended up in fifth and three back on the markers, IDEALLY AMERICAN (American Ideal – Snug Harbour) followed her and SAFE JEWELS (Safely Kept – Jewel Castle 1.57.2, $75,327) was last on the outside. ROCKIN THE TREND is out of a fine race mare and is a proven winner in Western Australia (at Narrogin). She went on to win the trial with something in reserve. DIEGOS DIAMOND boxed on really well for second well ahead of LETHAL LOVER and NOTORIOUS JOE.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.2             Final Half: - 58.83             Margins: - 4m, 17.5m

Trial 9: - In contrast to several of the earlier trials, there were no moves in this event and the field settled in single file. HECTOR MACRAY led and set up a slow speed before sprinting home in a quick final quarter. ABOUTAGIRL (Live or Die – Sentimental Charm) trailed the winner throughout and never peeled off his back, although she lost a little ground in the final 30m. YANKEE GOLD (American Ideal – Diamonds N Gold) settled four back on the markers and moved to the outside at the quarter pole. He got the better of BEST BACK BRUCE (3 back markers) to finish third. HIS DREAM LIVES ON (Four Starzzz Shark – Strawberry Field) and VILLAGE RHYTHM (Village Jolt – Girls Got Rhythm 2.0.9, $34,313) were fifth and sixth respectively throughout the entire trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.7             Final Half: - 58.04             Margins: - 6.5m, 2.5m

Trial 10: - PROMISE ME HEAVEN (Four Starzzz Shark – Donna Kelly 2.1.2, $26,416) is related to some very handy performers including Iron Outlaw (1.53.1) and was able to win the trial from the nicely bred MUSZTANG (Art Major – Mesmerizing 1.57.9, $179,221). RADICAL MAJOR (Art Major – Radical Storm 2.0.6, $32,155) has shown some ability at the trials and finished third in front of APOLOGIZE (Renaissance Man – Bovalai 1.57.5, $18,663) and A ROCKNROLL WALTZ (A Rocknroll Dance – Our Waltzing Mathilda 1.57.7, $12,131) was last of the five runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.3             Final Half: - 57.93             Margins: - 5.5m, 9.5m

Trial 11: - MALLEE REACTOR settled last of the five and followed up behind SUPREME DOMINATOR in the final 400m. He never looked like winning the trial until he made a big lunge on the line. Considering the quick final half of 56.92 seconds, he performed very well. MESSERATI set up the tempo and was only grabbed in the final stride. SUPREME DOMINATOR made the first move from four back on the markers and considering he was the most loosely assessed horse in the field, his effort was sound. BAO NIEN trailed the leader but galloped on the home turn inconveniencing TARZALI, which was situated behind him.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.6           Final Half: - 56.92             Margins: - 1/2head, nose

Trial 12: - ORLANDOS GIFT (Orlando Vici – Calder Luck) led and set up a slow speed. CAABELLO trailed the leader throughout and came to the outside on the turn. She got close with 50m remaining but she peaked late and ORLANDOS GIFT got clear again to win the trial by a comfortable margin. QUEEN OF EURASIA (Bacardi Lindy – Maori Missile 2.4.6, $1,203) was slow to move and settled down in third. She lost ground on the leading duo from about the 700m mark. MATADEROS was on his worst behaviour but he still shows the talent to win a lot of races if he can put it altogether. He galloped at the start, tacked on and quickly moved to third in the back straight on the final occasion before galloping again. He picked up a lot of ground again in the final 200m.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.8             Final Half: - 61.30             Margins: - 7m, 52.5m

Trial 13: - ASKMEILLTELLYA worked to the front and was unchallenged throughout the entire trial, winning comfortably. She did win the Diamond Classic at Gloucester Park at her latest attempt so she is a quality filly. AISHABEACH trailed the leader throughout and never peeled off her back at any stage, going to the line with plenty in reserve. THE PANTHEIST (Bettors Delight – Paintball 1.54.4, $100,508) was three back on the markers and like AISHABEACH, never hooked off the back of the horse in front. PLAYFUL MISS (Shadow Play – Indigo Smile 1.59.1, $28,550) was last of the four horses throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.8             Final Half: - 59.07             Margins: - 2.5m, 10.5
