A horse that screams cult following will now at least have the support of Trial File watchers, with Craig Rail including skewbald Holstein in his Blackbook after an impressive Shepparton trial.

The October 7 workout was an eye-catcher in more ways than one, with Holstein "dashing away" for an impressive win.

He was among four to slide into the Blackbook this week, which can be seen if you scroll to the bottom of this page.

She settled three back on the markers and remained hard on the back of the two leaders without being extended in the run to the finish. The former New South Wales pacer EXPERIA (4 back markers) also finished off nicely in fast final sectionals to be in fourth position. He started as the favourite and finished seventh at Shepparton on Thursday night. THINK ABOUT ME was last throughout in a quality trial to commence the program.

He was run down over the final stages and finished in fourth. ABBIE (Majestic Son – Aldebaran Peggy) was slow out, raced roughly and wanted to hang in just after the start. He finished second as a lead up to his performance at Geelong on Tuesday night. IMAMAORIJET finished unplaced at her only start for trainer Paddy Lee but her overall form is strong and she has the ability to perform well during her current campaign. She finished third in front of the juvenile trotter FREDRHYS (Used To Me – Verbier 1.59.6, $50,785) with ENLIGHTENED GIFT being in fifth. The John Meade prepared 3yo trotter FIRE ALERT (Great Success – Fire Chase 2.7.5, $12,025) was last of the six runners across the line but was taking on a smart field.

The order from start to finish was ITS BEAUJOLAIS from EUREKA, OUR ROAD TO MECCA, THE PANTHEIST and ENCHANTED STRIDE with no horse peeling to outside at any stage, even in the home straight! At least EUREKA used the sprint lane but with a last quarter of 26.64 seconds, it was impossible to make any ground.

She appears to be one of the leading chances in her event at Maryborough on Sunday. DOUBTLESS BAY pushed forward at the start and raced without cover for the entire journey. It was a big performance in fast time and he should take beating at Geelong on Tuesday night, despite competing against a strong field first up. CELESTIAL GOSSIP trailed the leader, used the sprint lane and did well to finish a close up third, even though he enjoyed the perfect trip. He is racing against a strong field at Warragul on Monday. PRIVATE EYE settled down last of the seven runners (1-2), came out three horses wide at the 400m mark and finished off quite well for fourth position. The pair staged a good battle in the home straight when STORM STRIDE getting the prize on the line. PRINCE SAHARA performed nicely from off the speed at the trials a week earlier and he didn’t seem to be concentrating in the front running role but he only went down narrowly. He appears to be a big winning chance at Warragul on Monday. MIRAMANEE settled last of the five runners, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 300m mark and picked up ground for third. LETSDANCETILLDAWN (A Rocknroll Dance – La Belle Aurore 2.1.6, $18,425) finished fourth after trailing the leader throughout and SHOOBEE GOTCHA settled in fourth before coming wide but couldn’t make up ground in the home straight.
