There was little to be sorry about on a monster week of Victorian trials, with seven horses going into Craig Rail's Blackbook including a lightly-raced five-year-old who spaced the likes of Little Peanut and Out To Play.

Bettor Be Sorry's eye-catching trial at Kilmore was among the highlights of this week's Trial File. Scroll to the bottom for the master caller and form analyst's updated Blackbook.

He was held up for a run at a vital stage before using the sprint lane and extending nicely in the latter stages. Trial 3: - VERY CHEERFUL is a former New Zealander and produced a massive performance to win. She built up a good record in New Zealand and will obviously win races in Australia. COHEN ROAD KATE finished in second position after breaking stride at the start and losing approximately 25m early. She ended up being three back on the markers and moved away from the inside with 350m remaining. VINDICATING tried to lead throughout and faded into third late. The former New South Wales filly MISS LEMON was in third position after trailing the leader throughout. He is a National Ratings 100 assessed pacer so he is currently on a tough mark and he was the class runner of the trial. SANTA CASA BEACH settled seventh on the inside, moved into the running lane and was able to work into the one out and one back trail behind ROCKNROLL ICON. He finished second in front of JOONIOR BROWN, which trailed the leader throughout. RETURN SOLDIER settled three back on the inside and finished fourth ahead of SPUNKYOLA, which showed good gate speed to lead from a wide alley. CRESCO THREEPEAT began quickly to lead, took a trail and was able to get close late but just failed on the line. HESTY settled third on the markers and was jogging in behind the leaders, having no clear run until the very end. He was unlucky then made his own fortune at Shepparton on Wednesday where he blasted away from his rivals to win by a big space. MA KATIE was four back on the markers and finished fourth ahead of MISTER ZHIVAGO, which didn’t have a great deal of luck early considering he was without cover and had to be restrained to be last of the seven runners. He made a move from the 900m and landed a one out and one back trail for the final 600m. SOEXTRA was five back on the markers throughout and was never seriously tested. BRING THE FLAVE settled six back on the inside, moved into the running lane and came out three horses wide with 500m remaining but failed to beat a runner to the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.5            Final Half: - 59.6               Margins: - Head, Neck

Trial 7: - BIG JACK HAMMER began quickly from out wide on the track to find the lead, rolled along at a reasonable tempo and scored comfortably enough. He did shift off the track in the home straight but he won by two lengths on the line, seemingly with something in hand. POWDERKEG began quickly to trail the leader and pulled hard for the entire journey. He wasn’t asked for the supreme effort in the home straight and held his ground at the end. ENFORCE THE LAW settled fourth on the markers, moved away from the inside at the 600m and finished in third position ahead of BULLION LADY, which was fifth on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 400m before coming out three horses wide on the home turn. She did want to hang in over the concluding stages. SO AWESOME settled three back on the inside and finished last of the five runners in what was a quality trial of trotters.

FOLLOW OUR DREAMS (Art Major – Smyrna Duruisseau USA 1.56.0, $20,321) began very quickly to be the first to the markers, took a trail behind MISTER JOE MAJOR and came away from the inside on the home turn. He tried hard in the straight and beat the remainder of the field by a good margin. SPORTY BEN finished third after settling three back on the outside and running home quite well. PLAYBOY SHADOW settled fifth on the inside and finished in fourth spot ahead of CROWBAR JOHNSON, which pulled very hard in ninth position and did well to make up ground late. APHRODISIAC was seventh on the markers early, moved into the running lane (1-4) behind CROWBAR JOHNSON and came out very wide on the home turn. She finished sixth in front of ARRAPS (Rock N Roll Heaven – Soho Joplin) (4 back markers), WONGA LAKE (3 wide, without cover 1500m, hung in) and SPORTY FRANK (without cover, 1-1, 3 wide 600m).

TERANG 15/08/20

Trial 1: - KEAYANG MAJESTIC hasn’t started since making an error at Terang in January but was able to defeat the Home Grown Classic winner KEAYANG IGNITE in the opening trial. Both horses are quality trotters and are worth following in the oncoming weeks. KAYLASISTER finished a distant third ahead of the unraced gelding THE BONT (Armbro Variable – Smokey Robyn). QUEEN OF CRIME made her trotting debut last week when she was confidently supported and was running a good race before breaking stride in the latter stages. She finished last of the five runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.13.8          Final Half: - 58.8               Margins: - 4m, 50m

Trial 2: - IDYLLIC has already done well this season having finished second in the Sapling Stakes and finished third in the Bathurst Gold Crown. He sprinted away from his rivals to win by a large margin and posted a final quarter of 27.2 seconds so he is obviously ready for a big first up performance. FIGHTNFURY finished in second position just in front of MISTER UPTOWN, which was stood down to trial after breaking stride at Terang on August 05. The unraced juvenile pacers WHATABOYJACK (Pet Rock – Jolaurella 2.4.1, $8,615) and CRACKER MISS (Cracker Black – Nine Mile Maiden 1.59.0, $37,310) were fourth and fifth respectively.

MILDURA 16/08/20

Trial 1: - CAMNAT has always shown a bit of ability and is now being prepared by trainer Luke Watson. She settled in the running lane (1-2 then 1-1) before hooking out three horses wide at the 500m mark and produced a strong finish to score. THE KNIGHT STAR did a bit wrong at his Mildura debut but produced a much better performance for a trial second. He showed gate speed to lead, took a trail at the 1200m and finished off well once he worked into the clear. DEAKIN AVENUE (Shadow Play – Wyndham Street) settled fifth on the markers, worked into the clear at the 300m mark and came out three horses wide on the home turn. He worked home well for third in front of the early leader OLLIES MOLLY with AUSSIE CASH finishing fifth after racing without cover for the final 1200m. Trial 2: - COCO BEACH was four back on the markers early, came out three horses wide approaching the home turn and finished off too well to score comfortably. MUSTANG MAX (Village Jolt – Highview Hanover 2.3.3, $20,285) did well for a horse that is yet to make his debut. He was three wide early before moving up without cover and pulled hard mid-race. He battled on well for second with the early leader THE VERGINIAN filling third position. The former South Australian pacer MODS is now with trainer Andrew Vozlic and showed some promise. He showed gate speed but settled third on the markers, eased off the pace when PARTYWITHMACH choked down at the 1000m mark then picked up a lot of ground in the last lap. CELEBRITA began well then angled in behind the leader and finished fifth. PARTYWITHMACH was fifth on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail but pulled extremely hard in the middle stages and failed to complete the course.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.9            Final Half: - 63.0               Margins: - 6m, 2m

Trial 3: - SHELDON disappointed as favourite at his Mildura debut but showed he is capable of better when he blitzed his rivals in the third trial. He settled down in last position, moved up without cover with 1000m remaining and ran away at the finish to score by twenty metres. OPAL CROWN finished second after trying to lead throughout and SYSTAMATIC filled third spot after trailing the leader and coming to the outside at the quarter pole. LIVINGINTHESHADOW was three back on the markers throughout and finished fourth ahead of HAPPYASLARRY (5 back markers, obtained an inside run) and SHADOW TERROR (4 back markers, 1-1 at 700m).

Mile Rate: - 2.0.2            Final Half: - 61.7               Margins: - 20m, 2m

BLACKBOOKER: - Sheldon

Trial 4: - OUTA CONTROL was third on the markers, moved away from the inside at the 700m mark and proved too good in the run to the judge, rolling away in the straight to win comfortably. SOME STONE began very quickly to lead and set up a moderate tempo before being run down in the latter stages. KEAYANG SANDY trailed the leader and was a distant third with HIS A DREAMER being last of the four runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.1            Final Half: - 60.6               Margins: - 7m, 18m

Trial 5: - VELOX EQUUS settled last of the five runners, moved into the one out and one back trail momentarily, eased back onto the markers, pulled hard and extricated into the one out and one back trail again at the 700m so it was a tidy display to run home strongly and win. CASHWRANGS SMOKER was fourth on the markers early, moved into the death seat at the 1900m then progressed forward to find the lead at the mile marker. He ran along at a fairly genuine tempo but shifted out under pressure in the home straight and ended up in second position. SMYNANNA MICKEY was third after leading out, taking a trail and obtaining an inside run in the home straight. BARNEY FELLA finished in fourth position after being three back on the markers and moving into the trail (1-2) behind the winner VELOX EQUUS. SMYNIC was three and four back on the inside before moving up without cover at the 700m mark and was the last one to greet the judge.

MARYBOROUGH 16/08/20

Trial 1: - SICARIO went back to fifth early then progressed forward without cover from the 1800m and worked to the front at the 1500m mark. He dashed home in slick final sectionals and scored with something in reserve. IM SIR BLAKE was an eye-catching second. He was fifth on the markers, moved out three horses wide at the quarter pole and was giving SICARIO a healthy start but was roaring home at the finish. MISS MCGONAGALL trailed the leader early and ended up being three back on the markers, finishing third in front of AZZA, which trailed her for the majority of the trip before popping to the outside with 400m remaining. PERSPECTIVE led out, took a trail behind SICARIO and was the last to cross the line.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.1          Final Half: - 56.9               Margins: - 6m, 8m

Trial 2: - BACARDY CHARDY led and set up a slow tempo before dashing home in a quick last quarter to win the trial. She raced roughly over the final stages and she returned to the races at Ballarat on Wednesday where she made several errors to finish at the tail. BRANDLO PRINCE was a game run in second. He settled down last, gave BACARDI CHARDY a big start and made his run from the 500m mark. He dashed home late for an eye-catching second. He would have made the list of horses to follow if he wasn’t so tightly assessed. TARARA JILL trailed the leader and finished third with DOWNTOWN MISS (3 back markers) finishing last of the four after contacting the sulky of TARARA JILL and galloping in the final circuit.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.3            Final Half: - 57.5               Margins: - 2m, 20m

Trial 3: - I CAST NO SHADOW is a former New Zealander, which is now with trainer Brent Lilley. He settled down last, moved around the field at the 1600m and found the lead at the three quarters pole. He then dashed home in a handy final half to win the trial from SHE WILL ROCK, which showed gate speed to lead then took a trail behind the winner. Considering she is a National Ratings 59 assessed pacer and I CAST NO SHADOW is a NR 72, it was a good performance. MACHANICAL ended up being four back on the markers and ran into a distant third in front of VAN GOGH, which led early before being shuffled to three back on the markers and moving to the outside with 400m remaining. SOHO SENNA ending up being six back on the markers trailing MAJOR BANKS throughout but got the better of that pacer in the run to the judge.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.4            Final Half: - 57.5               Margins: - 2m, 20m

BLACKBOOKER: - She Will Rock

Trial 4: - QUALITY SUNSET is a smart filly and led throughout to win well. She rolled along at a good tempo despite racing greenly and established a big lead mid-race. She remained strong at the finish and scored easily. PINEVALE VICTORIA was beaten by forty metres but she could have finished a lot closer. She remained last of the three behind RAGNA THOR until coming to the outside at the quarter pole. She was at least sixty metres behind QUALITY SUNSET when she commenced her run so she did make up ground in the run to the finish.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.1            Final Half: - 60.4               Margins: - 40m, 150m

Trial 5: - HOWS THE SERENITY (Barna Straide – Blissfull Bird 1.57.3, $20,038) settled down fifth on the markers, moved up without cover from the 700m and was able to sustain a long run to win comfortably. ANNALISE showed gate speed and worked to the front. She ran along at a genuine tempo but wasn’t able to repel the challenge of HOWS THE SERENITY over the concluding stages. LOVEN LAUGHTER finished in third after settling down last of the six horses and picking up a few late. GOZO COURAGE led out then took a trail before racing roughly at the 800m and then again at the 400m hence losing valuable ground. He finished fourth ahead of CREDON STAR (3 back markers, hung in) and JOLTED JOURNEY (4 back markers).

Mile Rate: - 2.2.6            Final Half: - 62.4               Margins: - 15m, 10m

Trial 6: - MAJOR MOTH (Art Major – Macy Lila 1.58.6, $38,375) is yet to make her debut and was able to gun down the dual winner and Bathurst Gold Crown Finalist IDEAL DAN so it was a very promising start to her career. She trailed the leader and got up on the line. IDEAL DAN beat the remainder of the field by a large margin so there was nothing wrong with the performance. TELL A TALL STORY was fifth early, popped off the markers and made an unsuccessful bid for the lead, dropped back to be fourth on the markers and made another move at the 300m so it wasn’t a bad performance, despite being beaten by twenty-five metres. IM LADY MADELEINE was four and five back on the markers and finished fourth ahead of KURRACA TAMMY (3 back markers).

Mile Rate: - 2.3.4            Final Half: - 57.9               Margins: - Short Head, 25m

BLACKBOOKER: - Major Moth

Trial 7: - PARIS FAITH (Majestic Son – Aldebaran Etta 2.6.1, $7,760) trailed the leader, moved away from the inside at the 600m and trotted strongly over the concluding stages to win well. LUVAFLAIR (Love You – All Flair 2.3.5, $116,842) jumped to the front and tried hard but found the winner to be too quick at the end. MY HIGH PEAK (Peak – Yankee Poem 2.4.2, $5,300) was third on the pegs in the early stages but broke stride at the mile marker and lost approximately 100m. He finished in third position with THAT’S MY ARMBRO (Armbro Variable – Hickory Trick) being tailed off throughout after galloping away.

Mile Rate: - 2.11.1          Final Half: - 64.6               Margins: - 10m, 150m

Trial 8: - IMAGE OF COURAGE has recently joined trainer David Murphy and impressed with his all of the way victory, where he ran along at a genuine tempo and scored by a large margin. Being a National Ratings 47 assessed runner, he can be well placed when he next steps out onto the track. THE BIG YIN is a former New Zealand pacer, which recently joined trainer Brent Lilley. He settled five back on the markers, moved up without cover at the 700m and continued to make up ground over the concluding stages. OUR PONTIAC settled three back on the markers and finished in third position with FOUR LONELY NIGHTS being fourth after trailing the leader. YES MAATE (Daroobalgie – Clean The Scene) was four back on the markers and finished fifth in front of LEOTARDANDLACE (Down Under Muscles – Estee Poppy), which dropped back to last after being without cover in the early stages with AMELIA ROCKS (Rock N Roll Heaven – Onedin Spur) (6 back markers) being the last one to complete the course.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.6            Final Half: - 60.1               Margins: - 15m, 10m

BLACKBOOKER: - Image Of Courage

Trial 9: - BIRTHDAY SUIT was in various positions in the run (4 back markers, 1-1, without cover at 700m, trailed leader 250m) but came to the outside and launched a winning claim in the straight to win with seemingly something in reserve. RIGONDEAUX was last on the markers, moved to the outside at the 1200m and worked to the front at the half mile marker. He gave a good sight but was beaten narrowly on the line. ROBLEN DANCER was three back on the markers, moved into a one out and one back trail at the 700m and tried hard for third. KYVALLEY CATWALK led out, took a trail and finished fourth with the juvenile trotter WAIKARE COLLEEN (Tennotrump – Waikare Patricia 1.59.9, $149,071) trailing the leader early and dropping out late to be last of the five to greet the judge. She did have a task considering she was competing against the winners of multiple races.

Mile Rate: - 2.12.0          Final Half: - 60.3               Margins: - Short Head, 6m

TABCORP PARK, MELTON 17/08/20

Trial 1: - CAPTAIN BELLASARIO trailed the leader, moved into the death seat at the 600m and sprinted home in handy final sectionals to win over RENDEZVOUS (He’s Watching – Libra Jaccka 1.59.7, $65,700), which was three back on the markers before moving through to trail the leader on the home turn and using the sprint lane. IONTHEBULLION set up the speed but was overtaken on the home turn and came in last of the three runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.7            Final Half: - 57.83    Margins: - 7m, 3m

Trial 2: - PANTZUP has joined trainer Maree Caldow and produced a good performance to defeat her new stable mate MADEEBA . She trailed the leader and came to the outside at the 400m, finishing off strongly in fast final sectionals. MADEEBA tried to lead throughout but couldn’t repel the challenge of the classy trotting mare late. PROSTHESIS settled third on the markers but broke stride with 600m remaining and failed to complete the course.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.8            Final Half: - 57.6               Margin: - 1.5m

Trial 3: - ITS EBONIVORY is a smart filly, which finished fourth in the Victoria Oaks and hasn’t raced since being unplaced in a heat of the New South Wales Oaks. She settled last of the four runners, moved up without cover at the 600m and jogged to victory. STEELE was no match for the winner but he found the line strongly from behind the leader in fast final sectionals so his effort was good. He is awkwardly drawn at Cranbourne on Sunday but he will be very competitive on that trial performance. FIREINTHEHOLE set up the speed and finished in third position ahead of ESCAVADOR (Rock N Roll Heaven – Sascha Fearce), which was three back on the markers but broke stride at the quarter pole.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.9            Final Half: - 57.84    Margins: - 2m, 4.5m

Trial 4: - The classy 3yo trotter ANDOVER SUN was able to score comfortably for the second week in succession. He settled last of the three runners, moved away from the inside at the 700m and was able to get home best in a slick final quarter of 28.49 seconds. He didn’t appear to be concentrating in the final stages but he got the job done in good fashion. CAABELLO began swiftly from the standing start and was able to run to the lead. She had her chance after setting up a slow speed but she did meet a smart horse on the night. MARIACHI trailed the leader and finished last of the three runners but she wasn’t beaten by far and she was the most loosely assessed horse in the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.10.8          Final Half: - 57.53    Margins: - 2m, 2m

KILMORE 17/08/20

Trial 1: - EVAS IMAGE (Father Patrick – Shes An Image 1.57.4, $233,824) is a beautifully bred filly for trainer Chris Lang, which settled last of the three runners, moved into the death seat at the 600m and was able to snare victory on the line. LIFEINTHEBALANCE (Grinfromeartoear – Artistic Wings) trailed the leader and used the sprint lane to finish second with the early leader IMASOCIALBUTTERFLY in third position. All of the three runners went to the line without being fully extended.

Mile Rate: - 2.16.4          Final Half: - 64.4               Margins: - ½ head, 4m

Trial 2: - STRESS FACTOR was three back on the markers early, pushed around to find the lead at the 1600m and set up a slow tempo thereafter. His rivals were getting close to him near the line but he always seemed to have them covered and won with something in reserve. KYVALLEY BARNEY stepped in second position, moved to the front at the 1800m mark and took a trail behind STRESS FACTOR. He looked a chance via the sprint lane in the straight but he couldn’t get past STRESS FACTOR in the latter stages. ALDEBARAN DEEBEE led early, took a trail and ended up being three back on the inside. She was doing her best work late and was a close up third. MASS DESTRUCTION settled five back on the markers and finished off well without being extended. BULLION LADY was six back on the markers and moved away from the inside at the quarter pole. She beat WHATTALOTTAFRAY (4 back markers) to the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.8            Final Half: - 60.7               Margins: - ½ head, 2.5m

Trial 3: - HES DAN (He’s Watching – Pastels) settled three back on the markers, pushed forward at the 1700m to find the lead at the 300m and dominated the trial thereafter. He raced away to score by twenty metres. ORCHID STRIDE trailed the leader early and ended up being three back on the markers. She finished second ahead of NIKI NAH NAH, which was slow to begin and missed the start by approximately ten metres. She finished on fairly well from five back on the markers. FIGHTNFURY was four back on the inside, gained a one out and one back trail behind HES DAN and was left without cover when that pacer found the lead. He moved up to challenge at the bell but was stranded in the death seat. He was going to run a place but raced roughly and broke stride with 100m remaining. WATCHMEDAZZLE led out, raced keenly and eventually was able to be restrained enough to take cover at the 1400m but he dropped out late. He is a much better horse than that performance suggests and pulling hard mid-race obviously had an effect on him late. IMANGRY (Pet Rock – Etla 2.0.0, $28,861) showed explosive gate speed to lead clearly but broke stride 100m after the start and was tailed off for the remainder of the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.4            Final Half: - 60.9               Margins: - 20m, 10m

Trial 4: - SKREEMR began quickly from a wide draw and was able to push across the face of the field to race without cover. He found the front at the 1700m, was pressured by ACE MONTANA but remained strong at the finish, scoring by two metres. ACE MONTANA produced a game performance to finish second. He was sixth on the markers, moved into the death seat at the 1700m, pressured the leader and had an unsuccessful crack for the lead. He raced without cover before dropping in for a breather at the 600m then tried hard in the straight. He couldn’t peg back SKREEMR but he defeated the others by a large margin. JESSIES GIRL was three back on the markers before moving into the one out and one back trail at the bell. She finished third ahead of PEARLS FOR TASH, which was four back on the markers for the majority of the trial. VILLAGE FLING (Fling It – Bonnie Cheval) was five back on the markers and beat home SPUNKY THOUGHTZ (Four Starzzz Shark – Spare The Thought 1.58.0, $87,908), which began quickly to lead, took a trail at the 1700m and tired in the back straight on the final occasion. QUIETACHIEVER was last of the seven runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.3            Final Half: - 62.1               Margins: - 2m, 20m

Trial 5: - SAMMY SHOWDOWN showed good gate speed to lead, ran along at an even tempo and got away in the straight to win impressively. RED HOT TOOTH trailed the leader, seemed to hit a flat spot coming up to the home turn but rallied in the straight to finish second. FULL NOISE is a National Ratings 58 assessed trotter and he was taking on the open class. He settled three back on the markers, moved into the death seat at the 700m and trotted boldly up within four metres of SAMMY SHOWDOWN at the quarter pole. He peaked a little in the latter stages but it was an excellent performance for a horse of his assessment. FIELDS OF KYVALLEY was last of the four trotters throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.7            Final Half: - 59.5               Margins: - 10m, 4m

Trial 6: - BETTOR BE SORRY is the winner of five of his seven starts to date and he has been trialling impressively for new trainer David Aiken. He is a National Ratings 69 assessed pacer and the next lowest rated pacers in the trial were OUT TO PLAY and MALCOLMS RHYTHM (Both are NR88 assessed!) so to blow his rivals away indicates he will be very well placed when he next steps out onto the track. He led throughout and recorded a slick final quarter of 27.9 seconds. OUT TO PLAY settled three back on the markers, came to the outside at the 300m and finished determinedly for second. LITTLE PEANUT came from last of the five runners and was picking up good ground late without being pushed. PICK UP LINE was four back on the markers and finished fourth with MALCOLMS RHYTHM finishing at the tail after trailing the leader throughout. The New South Wales Derby runner up and Breeders Crown place getter just hasn’t been able to fire as yet in several trials this campaign.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.6          Final Half: - 56.9               Margins: - 12m, 5m

BLACKBOOKER: - Bettor Be Sorry

Trial 7: - IMNOPUMPKIN began quickly to lead, rolled along at a reasonable tempo and never appeared to be in any danger of defeat. ORAMA trailed the leader and used the sprint lane. She tried hard in the straight but IMNOPUMPKIN was coasting to the line. SHES A HOVERCRAFT was four back on the markers, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 600m and finished third with ART OF SHENG LI (5 back markers) in fourth. RINGER RUSS was three back on the markers, moved into the death seat at the 600m and dropped back to finish last of the five runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.9            Final Half: - 60.2               Margins: - 2.5m, 5m

Trial 8: - ROGUE WAVE (Somebeachsomewhere – Perfect Life 1.58.0, $47,588) trailed the leader, popped off the pegs on the home turn and finished strongly to record an impressive win. There was nothing flash about the sectional times but he did appear to stride out very nicely in the run to the finish. EUROKING set up a slow speed in the lead and had a good look at the winning post when the bell was chiming with a lap to go. He looked good turning for home but couldn’t match the finishing sprint of ROGUE WAVE in the run to the finish. HOLI STARZZZ settled three back on the markers and was doing her best work at the end, nearly picking up EUROKING on the line. MARY KATHLEEN (Auckland Reactor – Art Bubble) galloped at the start, dipped badly but remained on all fours and was tailed off throughout the remainder of the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.8            Final Half: - 59.7               Margins: - 5m, 1m

Trial 9: - KYVALLEY HOTSPUR (Muscle Hill – Love Ya Doosie) was last of the three horses to begin but pushed into the death seat at the 600m and proved a little too strong at the finish. ALDEBARAN YAHTZEE (Sebastian K – Charming Yankee) led and set up a slow tempo. He finished ahead of SPOTLIGHT (Muscle Hill – Imitating 2.9.1, $4,955), which trailed the leader throughout. The trio finished in a group and none of them were seriously tested in the run to the finish.

Mile Rate: - 2.12.4          Final Half: - 65.1               Margins: - 2, head

Trial 10: - MONA MIA showed good gate speed to lead and ran along at a genuine tempo. She led clearly into the straight and kept on rolling to the line to record a good victory. TRYNA PORTRAY trailed the leader throughout and finished in second position ahead of PIRATE BAY. PIRATE BAY was slow away and missed the start by approximately 15m. He settled fifth on the markers and moved into the one out and one back trail at the bell. He came out three horses wide at the 400m and ran home fairly well without being extended at any stage. DANMAN raced without cover, moved onto the markers to be three back and extricated into the death seat again at the 1100m. He dropped off late but finished a distant fourth ahead of SPRINGFIELD TATTOO, which was four back on the markers throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.1            Final Half: - 59.3               Margins: - 5m, 6m
