SHEPPARTON 20/08/20

TREASURE RAINBOW trailed the leader throughout and held his ground over the latter stages to finish in second position. NIGHT SCHOOL (Blissfull Hall – The Charm School) was four back on the markers, came to the outside on the home turn and ran home well without being fully extended. COVERED KYLIE settled 5 back on the markers and was able to finish fourth ahead of TERROR OF LOCKSLEY (Western Terror – Loves To Rock 1.58.2, $69,810), which was sixth on the markers before moving up without cover at the 900m. He switched back to the sprint lane in the straight and jogged home to win. He backed up to win nicely at Bendigo on Wednesday. OUR AMERICAN PRINCESS was one out and one back for the majority of the trial and was left without cover for the final 600m. She boxed on well in the straight but was no match for the winner. CAUSENFRICTION started off the second line and pushed through hard shortly after the start. She charged to the front at the 1800m mark and set up a reasonable tempo thereafter. She battled on reasonably well for third in front of BOPPER JET, which settled down last and picked up some ground in the final circuit. BRING THE FLAVE was ninth on the markers before moving into the running lane at the 800m (1-4). He finished in fifth position ahead of NOTORIOUS JOE (7th the markers), MURANO (1-1, 1-3), MANGOCHILILIME (last the markers), FLEETING GRIN (led, behind the leader) and ROLLING ALONG saw them all safely home after racing without cover and yielding ground from the 600m mark.

He finished second ahead of ENFORCE THE LAW, which was third on the markers and ducked back into the sprint lane over the final stages. VERRY CHEERFUL was racing outside of his class range and finished fourth after settling four back on the markers in the early stages. LORD LOHKI was slow into stride and missed the start by approximately 30m then settled down second last. H was able to beat home SO AWESOME, which broke stride at the start and lost approximately 70m. QUAKERS ROYALE (Quaker Jet – Queens Rhapsody 2.4.7, $87,392) was the last horse to greet the judge after settling down in fifth but breaking stride and losing 50m on the first corner.

CROWBAR JOHNSON moved up without cover and raced keenly throughout. He boxed on gamely for second with FARAGALIONI (Grinfromeartoear – Foxy Capri 2.0.9, $18,173) being in third position after he led out, took a trail and used the sprint lane. BEAU STEELE (He’s Watching – Beau Ciel 1.56.2, $44,454) settled in seventh on the markers and made up late ground for fourth with REALITY WRITER in fifth after settling in the one wide lane (1-2) and coming out three horses wide on the turn. He came out four horses wide on the home turn and sprinted home strongly to score. HIGHCLERE was without cover early, trailed the leader from the mile marker and came away from the inside on the home corner. She loomed up to win but TOPHUT JOHNY was able to get up on the line. AUNTY MILLIE settled three back on the outside, gained a one out and one back trail then was left without cover at the 600m. She battled on well for a close up third ahead of APHRODISIAC, which began slowly, missed the start by 15m and worked up into a trailing position (1-2 then 1-1). LIBERLAND settled three back on the inside and finished in fifth with JUSTBLING IT CRESCO fading into sixth after setting the speed. THE BUTCHER (1-3) was seventh and beat home SPORTY FRANK, which broke stride in the score up and OUR TRIPLE ASSET (1-1, without cover 1600m) was the last of the herd to go past the winning post.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.3            Final Half: - 61.2               Margins: - Head, Head

Trial 8: - WESTERN SONADOR raced without cover early before pushing to the lead at the 1700m. He remained strong at the finish and was untouched in going to the line as a convincing winner. THE CRIMSON PRINCE settled three back on the markers and tried hard for third in front of BLINGITTOTHEMAX, which settled down last and came out three horses wide on the home turn. BUSTER BRADY pulled hard from five back on the markers, raced a little roughly with 600m remaining and ended up finishing in fourth but was never extended at any stage. ULTIMATE WON took a trail behind WESTERN SONADOR in the early stages and came away from the markers on the turn but failed to run on. Mile Rate: - 2.21.8          Final Half: - 66.6               Margin: 2m

Trial 2: - TREACHERY hasn’t raced since a big win in the Allwood Final at Globe Derby in March. GONE AND FORGOTTEN is now with trainer Amanda Grieve and finished fourth ahead of ANDREW SWAGGER.

BLACKBOOKER: - Amelia Rose

Trial 6: - JACKS HAWK (Art Major – Rotkara Stella 1.57.0, $41,709) is an Emma Stewart trained colt, which is out of a handy race mare and he was able to defeat the Alison Alford prepared CAPTAIN MAASTRICT  with the unraced New Zealand bred mare ROCKAROUND THE CLOCK (A Rocknroll Dance – Spred It Round) filling third. FIGHTNFURY has made a few errors at the trials recently and came in last of the four runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.9            Final Half: - 58.7               Margins: - 5m, 2m

Trial 7: - MAAJIDA hasn’t raced since March but she boasts an exceptional record of ten wins from just fourteen starts including a victory in the Breeders Crown last season. ARARAT 22/08/20

Trial 1: - IM LADY MADELEINE won a heat of the Leeton Breeders Plate at the beginning of the season and was placed in the Premiere Stakes at Melton. She hasn’t raced since April but she is a handy filly and took out her trial comfortably. Trial 2: - SOHO SENNA was placed in two of his five Victorian starts prior to heading to Tasmania, where he excelled in winning at four of his seven appearances. He recently returned to the O’Brien training combination and dashed well clear of his rivals to win the trial in fast time. Mile Rate: - 1.59.9          Final Half: - 59.1               Margins: - 25m, 10m

MARYBOROUGH 23/08/20

Trial 1: - IM SIR BLAKE was able to show early brilliance to lead easily. He enjoyed a nice run in front and was able to hold off his rivals to score. Admittedly, he did appear to be more impressive in his second behind Sicario a week earlier where he sprinted home from off the speed, but he did get the job done in handy time. A FAIR OL DANCE trailed the leader throughout and only peeled away from the markers with 50m remaining. He did pick up a metre or two quickly in the latter stages. IOLANTA was an eye-catching third. She settled fifth on the markers, was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off strongly late. RAANI finished fourth after being three back on the markers and MAJESTIC MAJOR finished at the tail of the field after moving into the death seat with 600m remaining from four back on the inside.

She appeared to be travelling well on the home turn but couldn’t repel the challenge of SELF EXCLUSION in the latter stages. PARIS FAITH (Majestic Son – Aldebaran Etta 2.6.1, $7,760) was four back on the markers early then three back when the early leader BUSLIN BRODY broke stride with 800m remaining. She finished third with BUSLIN BRODY in fourth after losing 30m with his misdemeanour in the back straight. COLUMBIAS DEECEE (Bacardi Lindy – Columbias Gindin 2.6.3, $41,475) broke stride at the start and missed away by 50m so he was last of the five runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.2            Final Half: - 61.3               Margins: - 4m, 30m

Trial 3: - INAUGURATE trailed the leader VAN GOGH, came away from the markers on the home turn and finished on too well to score. VAN GOGH held down second with FIFTYSHADESOFHAY being last of the three runners throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.6            Final Half: - 58.2               Margins: - 2m, 5m

Trial 4: - DOWNTOWN MISS began very quickly and was able to head off HADES SKY at the start to find the lead. She rolled along at a genuine tempo and even through she was getting very leg weary in the final 100m, she never really looked like being beaten at any stage. HADES SKY finished in second position after trailing the leader throughout and coming away from the inside on the home turn. BACARDI CHARDY broke stride at the start and lost approximately 30m early. She came from last to finish third ahead of ORLANDOS GIFT, which started off in third but galloped twice (1600m, 700m) and lost his opportunity to finish closer. MY HIGH PEAK (Peak DNK – Yankee Poem 2.4.2, $5,300) was fourth on the first turn but broke stride and was tailed off for the remainder of the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.9            Final Half: - 63.0               Margins: - 10m, 20m

Trial 5: - UPRIGHT began very quickly to lead, hung out on the first turn but steered a straighter course thereafter and held off his rivals to win the trial over his stable mate LET IT LINGA (Captaintreacherous – Delightful Lana 1.54.5, $148,269), which trailed the leader and used the sprint lane. TELEMACHUS (Somebeachsomewhere – Our Narissa Franco 2.2.3, $13,928) settled last of the four runners and was able to work past MATACEY MAC (Live or Die – Ricks Girl 2.2.3, $4,975) (3 back markers, without cover at 500m) over the concluding stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.5            Final Half: - 58.4               Margins: - Head, 10m

Trial 6: - CONSTANTINA showed gate speed to lead, took a trail and pulled hard before moving away from the inside with 300m remaining. She sprinted home too well to get the prize. SUMMERHILL was without cover early before working to the front with 1800m remaining and battled on well for second position. NUART settled sixth on the outside, came out three horses wide from the 500m and worked home quite well for third. YES MAATE (Daroobalgie – Clean The Scene) was without cover throughout and finished a creditable fourth ahead of VALENTINA RAIA (Village Jolt – Miss Sands), which settled fifth on the markers. CARRAMAR KASIANO (7th the markers) and LEOTARDANDLACE (Down Under Muscles – Estee Poppy) (1-1) were sixth and seventh respectively.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.6            Final Half: - 61.3               Margins: - 2m, 5m

Trial 7: - SAYITAINTSO JOE trailed the leader PANTALOON, moved away from the markers at the 300m mark and was able to win with plenty left in reserve. He was showing plenty of ability at the trials before galloping on debut at Melton then was put away. His victory was a promising start to a new campaign. PANTALOON lost no admirers in second and the Michael Stanley prepared duo were well clear of KURRACA TAMMY in the run to the finish.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.7            Final Half: - 57.1               Margins: - 2m, 30m

BLACKBOOKER: - Sayitaintso Joe

Trial 8: - LOST FOUR WORDS settled fifth on the markers, moved away from the inside at the bell and was able to score after racing in the death seat for the last lap. TRIPLE ZED began quickly to lead and rolled along at an even tempo. He finished second and was nicely clear of JOLTED JOURNEY, which was behind the leader throughout. ALWAYS A DUCHESS pulled very hard in the score up and at the start, raced in third early and moved into the one out and one back trail behind LOST FOUR WORDS at the quarter pole. She finished in fourth position with SURREALIST (six back markers, 1-1 at bell) in fifth. MAGIC SMILE settled fourth on the markers and wanted to hang out in the last 600m. She dropped out to be the last of the six runners to complete the course.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.7            Final Half: - 58.7               Margins: - 4m, 10m

Trial 9: - RIGONDEAUX settled fifth on the markers, moved up without cover at the 700m and proved too strong in the run to the finish. DON’T CARE led early, broke stride at the 1600m and went to inside of the track. He was in fifth position when he got back onto the course proper, moved into the one out and one back trail at the 700m and never peeled away from the back of RIGONDEAUX. He went to the line hard held and was very impressive. BEAU GARCON settled last of the six runners, gained a trail in the running lane (1-2) and came out three horses wide on the home turn. He finished on quite well for third and considering he backed up to win easily at Horsham on Thursday, it adds a lot of merit to the performance of the juvenile trotter DON’T CARE. CALEDONIAN SPIRIT trailed the early leader DON’T CARE and was left in front from the mile marker. He finished fourth in front of WAIKARE COLLEEN (Tennotrump – Waikare Patricia 1.59.9, $149,071) (3 back markers, trailed leader at 1600m) and SHEZA CHOCOLATIER (4 back then 3 back markers) was last of the six runners to cross the line.

Mile Rate: - 2.13.4          Final Half: - 61.5               Margins: - 4m, Short Head

BLACKBOOKER: - Don’t Care

TABCORP PARK, MELTON 25/08/20

Trial 1: - ABITOFADREAMER was able to step to the front and was unchallenged from the start. He appeared to be in trouble have way down the front straight but was able kick on strongly in the final 100m. CLAUDY AN GUS trailed the leader, moved away from the markers at the 300m and loomed as a chance in the straight but peaked on his run late. GATESYS ALLEY was last of the four runners for the majority of the journey, came away from the markers at the 500m mark and worked into a distant third. HES THE MIGHTYSPIN settled three back on the markers but broke stride at the 300m and lost all chance.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.0            Final Half: - 58.56    Margins: - 3.5m, 12m

Trial 2: - ANDOVER SUN continued his excellent trial form with a victory over JUST BELIEVE. He settled third on the markers, moved away from the inside at the 600m and hit the lead on the turn. He wasn’t concentrating when he hit the front and wanted to switch off but he was able to land the prize. JUST BELIEVE wasn’t too keen early and was slow to begin, settling last of the four runners. She moved into the one out and one back trail at the 600m and chased valiantly after ANDOVER SUN, missing out narrowly on the line. GIUSEPPE MOON tried to lead all of the way and finished third with MEANDMYBIGMOUTH finishing last after trailing the leader throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.6            Final Half: - 58.46    Margins: - Neck, 5.5m

ROCK NIEN trailed the leader, moved up on the outside with 300m remaining and hit the front but couldn’t repel the challenge of the winner in the straight. RENDEZVOUS (He’s Watching – Libra Jaccka 1.59.7, $65,700) was four back on the markers and picked up third at the end. SHALLOW BEACH (Somebeachsomewhere – Mollys Lucky Star USA $96,700) began quickly to lead, pulled hard and was going to finish third but started to pace very roughly in the straight, eventually breaking stride and almost coming to grief. He was last of the four competitors to cross the line.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.6          Final Half: - 57.0               Margins: - 3m, 14m

Trial 4: - HULI NIEN settled three back on the markers, gained a one out and one back trail at the 500m and came out three horses wide from the 300m when he swooped to victory. He extended beautifully in the latter stages and was very impressive but he is a National Ratings 82 assessed pacer so he is on a tough mark. MESSERATI trailed the leader, moved away from the inside at the 500m and hit the lead on the turn but found HULI NIEN to be too swift. OUR SEQUEL showed gate speed to lead and set up a genuine tempo but tired at the end and finished last of the three runners.

Mile Rate: - 1.56.0          Final Half: - 56.51    Margins: - 10.5m, 34m

Trial 5: - OCEANIQUE ran to the front, had a good look around and set up a very slow tempo. She raced greenly but was able to fight off her challengers in the straight. ESCAVADOR (Rock N Roll Heaven – Sascha Fearce) trailed the leader, moved up without cover at the 900m and tried hard in the straight. SHADOW STYLE came from last to pick up fourth with ROCK IN HEAVEN (Pet Rock – Immediate Choice) (3 back pegs) dropping out to last after hanging in and losing all momentum over the final 500m.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.0            Final Half: - 58.43    Margins: - 1.5m, 7.5m

BALLARAT 25/08/20

Trial 1: - ROHAAN trailed the leader ALDEBARAN LEROY throughout, came to the outside at the quarter pole and was able to edge past ALDEBARAN LEROY in the final 50m. Both horses seemingly had something in reserve at the finish. ABBEY WAY (Angus Hall – French Frolic) stood flat footed from the standing start, lost approximately 50m, was still 10m away from the second horse at the bell and dropped off again late hence finishing at the tail of the field.

Mile Rate: - 2.13.6          Final Half: - 60.5               Margins: - Neck, 40m

Trial 2: - ITSALLANDOVER showed gate speed to lead, was always in a dominant position and went to the line jogging with plenty in reserve so it was a nice trial performance. QUAKE PROOF trailed the leader throughout and finished in second position with LA SERENA being in third after settling three back on the markers and breaking stride at the 300m. EXOTIC BOUCHEA was slow away and settled last of the five. He finished fourth ahead of ARAIGNEE FLAIR, which moved away from the inside at the 400m mark to challenge but broke stride in the straight and lost her winning chance.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.3            Final Half: - 60.1               Margins: - 12m, 40m

Trial 3: - ALWAYS READY led throughout and defeated LITTLE YANKEE, which trailed. He is a smart horse and won at his final five starts of his last preparation but he was still extremely impressive at the end, dashing home his last quarter in 27.7 seconds. He appears to be ready for Metropolitan racing. LITTLE YANKEE was beaten by 25m but he met a very smart horse on the day.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.6            Final Half: - 57.2               Margin: - 25m

BLACKBOOKER: - Always Ready

Trial 4: - SOHO ALMASI settled last of the three runners, came to the outside with 700m remaining and sustained a strong run to defeat the smart juvenile and stable mate DRAIN THE SWAMP, which set the speed. SHAZZAM (A Rocknroll Dance – Embraced 1.59.7, $27,410) trailed the leader and finished last of the three runners but behind a classic winner and a classic place getter so he was taking on strong opposition.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.8            Final Half: - 57.1               Margins: - 1m, 25m

Trial 5: - The former New Zealander STINGRAY TARA trailed the leader, came away from the markers in the straight and finished on strongly to win. He is a National Ratings 57 assessed pacer and defeated a race winning juvenile but he was still impressive as the final half was run in 55.0 seconds and he really hit the line hard. His Southland form is strong and he should go well in Victoria. BAR ROOM BANTA hasn’t raced since winning the Shakamaker Classic early in the season. He was gunned down but with the final sectionals being extremely quick, he couldn’t have done much more than he did (55.0, 27.6). SOUNDSOFCASH was third on the markers and remained in the same position for the trip and NARUTAC PRINCE was last throughout.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.9          Final Half: - 55.0               Margins: - Head, 8m

BLACKBOOKER: - Stingray Tara

Trial 6: - Abandoned
