Check out Craig Rail's Weekly Trial File below, a comprehensive wrap of all Victorian trials over the past seven days. Black Book horses to follow at the bottom of the article.

SHEPPARTON 25/07/19

Trial 1: - HESTY (Heston Blue Chip – Four Zoe 1.58.0, $18,440) strolled to the lead from FEELING ENERJETIC, which was content to take cover. That pair started to get away from PLAYBOY SHADOW (Shadow Play – Lombo Portrait 1.59.9, $94,998) turning into the back straight on the final occasion so MANCHEGO (Betterthancheddar – Spice On Ice) went to make a move. As he came to the outside of PLAYBOY SHADOW, he broke stride and slightly inconvenienced STORM TIDE (Mach Three – Aquae Sulis 2.3.0, $5,319), which was trailing up from last. This left HESTY and FEELING ENERJETIC well clear with HESTY comfortably holding an advantage of three metres to the winning post. STORM TIDE ran into third and was never extended so he should have finished a lot closer. PLAYBOY SHADOW was fourth and MANCHEGO galloped his way out of contention.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.5             Final Half: - 59.3               Margins: - 3m, 20m

Trial 2: - REVOLT is a smart horse, which hasn’t raced since January but he could be in for a prosperous campaign. He led out, took cover then put his rivals away at the 400m to win easily and with something in hand. JIMMY COME HOLME was a game effort into second. He raced without cover for a lap and was racing a little too keenly to be restrained to the tail. He was able to slot onto the markers in fourth position at the bell then finished nicely. GALACTIC GAL ended up being three back on the markers and finished third in front of ALLVICTORY HANOVER, which was outpaced by REVOLT at the start before pushing forward to lead. OK SUNI was five back on the markers and started to yield ground with 800m remaining and LIVE WELL was last throughout.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.7           Final Half: - 59.30             Margins: - 12m, 2m

Trial 3: - PRETTYLILANGUS began best to lead then took cover behind CINKARI, which in turn took a trail behind WANDA. That trio battled out the finish with WANDA holding off PRETTYLILANGUS, which wasn’t really extended going to the post and CINKARI was three metres away in third after leaving the trailing position with 400m remaining. THE RED WARRIOR (Bacardi Lindy – Spring Fly 2.5.1, $25,456) settled one out and one back behind MYNAMESGRAHAM (Imperial Count – Strike Destroyer 2.5.3, $36,119) and had to manoeuvre out three horses wide when MYNAMESGRAHAM started to tire. He was able to gain cover behind CINKARI turning out of the back straight and ended up finishing in fourth position. STICK WITH ME was four back on the markers throughout from the pole position and finished fifth in front of MYNAMESGRAHAM and LUCKY SPEED (Lucky Chucky – Apache Speed 2.5.4, $15,063), which was last of the main group throughout.  DALTON (Bad Boy Truscott – Camp Fire Glow 2.11.2, $7,988) and TEQUILA BREE (Bacardi Lindy – Maori Sunshine 2.3.2, $45,075) were both tailed off after making mistakes at the start with TEQUILA BREE being retired from the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.2             Final Half: - 61.3               Margins: - Head, 3m

Trial 4: - LORNE BEACH showed good gate speed to lead and was untroubled to score by a comfortable margin. PLUKKA (If I Can Dream – Joy Styx) settled last and lost approximately 15m when OUR EDWARD LEWIS started to tire after pulling hard in the death seat took a toll on him. He picked up ground quickly and went back to the markers on the home turn. He appeared to be bolting with no clear run until the sprint lane arrived. He worked through for second under a strong grip and probably should have won the trial. WOTPLANETRUFROM trailed the leader and raced a little keenly but nowhere near as fierce as he has been at the races recently. He finished third in front of WENTHESTARZZZALINE (Four Starzzz Shark – Chelsea Hanover 2.1.5, $46,861), which raced one out and one back with JAMYAN BRONY (Denver Gift – Jamyan Minndon) (3 back markers) in fifth after yielding ground from the 600m. OUR EDWARD LEWIS dropped out to be last of the six runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.0             Final Half: - 59.5               Margins: - 7m, Head

Trial 5: - The former New Zealander BUSTER BRADY was brilliant last season and took out multiple Country Cups. He returned with an effortless trial victory where he pulled his way to the lead and strolled clear in the latter stages. HEREHECOMES settled last of the three runners and was able to outgun the trotter MAORI LAW in the run to the finish. Both horses performed soundly considering the quality of the winner.

Mile Rate: - 2.1.8             Final Half: - 57.3               Margins: - 12m, head

ARARAT 27/07/19

Trial 1: - Only two horses competed in the opening trial with HARRY MCKINNIS, a 2yo colt by Shadyshark Hanover, which raced once back in March, winning from the maiden performer ELIZABETHAN ERA.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.0             Final Half: - 60.10             Margin: - 5m

Trial 2: - GRACIE CULLEN is an honest little pacer and she comfortably defeated the unraced filly BEEKEACEE (Four Starzzz Shark – Carly Michelle), a relation to three winners including Glenora’s Bliss (1.56.1). AERODYNE TRUMPS, the trotter taking on the pacers, finished last of the three runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.8             Final Half: - 60.0               Margins: - 7m, 30m

Trial 3: - WITZEND is the winner of 12 races and almost $90,000 so he appeared to be beautifully placed against four trotters, two of which were juveniles. He started from the handicap of 30m but proved to be superior from the Tatlow Stakes winner DUBLIN CHUBB, which made an error at his latest third in the Maori Legend. LORD CHANCELLOR was a distance away in third and finished narrowly ahead of the four times winning trotter KEEPTHEDREAM. SHOW ME THE MOOLAH finished last of the five runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.12.6           Final Half: - 61.40             Margins: - 7m,20m

BACCHUS MARSH 27/07/19

Trial 1: - It was a slowly run trial for the trotters with ARU AND ME coming from the handicap of 30m and defeating FLOATING MOUNTAIN, which finished fourth in the Home Grown Classic back in May. ENTICING SMILE finished in third position after starting from the handicap of 30m.

Mile Rate: - 2.24.1           Final Half: - 66.4               Margins: - 2m, 1/2head

Trial 2: - BRONSKI MOMENT has had an extensive trial campaign and made his debut with a fourth at Cranbourne on July 21. He returned to the trials with a victory over SHEALDS (Sealed N Delivered – Seannarose) with BONA KHAN (Bonavista Bay – Rosie Khan) finishing a close up third.

Mile Rate: - 2.11.5           Final Half: - 61.50             Margins: - 2.5m, 2m

Trial 3: - YERINGBERG hasn’t started since March 2016 but he is the winner of three races to date and he defeated the unraced colt BOOTSANDALL (Cullens Legacy – A Beautiful Sound) in slow time.

Mile Rate: - 2.18.4           Final Half: - 65.1               Margin: - 2m

Trial 4: - CHRISSYS DIVINYL is a speedy mare and was a winner at Kilmore in May. She won the trial by a comfortable margin. The proven metropolitan pacers SOLARSONIC and PLATINUM POWER finished second and third respectively. The nicely bred pacer KELLYS IDEAL, which has done a lot of his racing in New South Wales, finished last of the four runners.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.3             Final Half: - 60.7               Margins: - 3m, Head

Trial 5: - SHADOW STYLE hasn’t raced for nearly a year but he took out the final trial over SUMO GRIN and ALDEBARAN JAZZI. The unraced filly WARP SENSA HUMA (The Warp Drive – Fancy Spurs 2.1.7, $5,885) finished fourth in front of the New Zealand bred pacer DEADLY MARK, which won four races in New South Wales before heading to Victoria.

Mile Rate: - 2.7.1             Final Half: - 61.7               Margins: - 3m, 3m

HAMILTON 28/07/19

Trial 1: - BIG TOM BART (Gotta Go Cullect – Karamea Dreamin 1.59.3, $37,226) is out of a handy race mare and was able to clear out for an easy trial victory over TIFFS PET ROCKS (Pet Rock – Tiffany Case 1.58.6, $21,905), which also comes from a race winning mare. FIRE OFFICIAL, the only horse in the trial to have raced previously finished third in front of CEEULATER (Safari – Regards 2.3.2, $6,175).

Mile Rate: - 2.0.1             Final Half: - 62.8               Margins: - 30m, 1m

Trial 2: - JUST CALL ME WALLY broke stride at the start and lost his chance on his debut. He took out the final trial from TOMMASO and the open class pacer BAD BILLY, which hasn’t raced since a fifth in the Hamilton Cup in January.

Mile Rate: - Not given    Final Half: - Not given     Margins: - Not given.

MILDURA 28/07/19

Trial 1: - MISTER JIMARINGLE (Modern Art – Caro Ella 2.3.1, $6,430) trailed the leader STEALTH MODE and produced a good finish to get over the top of her in the latter stages. GOLDEN SCRIBE raced without cover throughout and finished in third position ahead of THE DORSAL FIN, which settled three back on the inside. MACHNIFICENTSTELLA galloped at the start and lost approximately 30m. She was able to tack onto the group but the early effort took a toll and she tired late.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.9             Final Half: - 59.9               Margins: - 1m, 20m

Trial 2: - ANTAEUS BLUE CHIP settled four back on the markers and took advantage of a fast tempo in the early stages to run over the top of his rivals in the run to the finish. PUOPOLO was a brave second. He tried to keep the inside advantage but eventually relented to the pressure being applied by OPAL CROWN, which rolled to the top with a mile remaining. PUOPOLO stayed in the trail for a lap before circling into the lead at the bell and battled on well at the finish. SPRINGFIELD SHADOW settled three back on the markers and moved up without cover at the bell. He finished third ahead of OPAL CROWN, which tired after using plenty of energy in the early stages. KILLER DRAGON galloped at the start and was retired from the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.8             Final Half: - 62.7               Margins: - 3m, 10m

Trial 3: - MURRANJI TRACK settled four back on the markers and sprinted sharply from the quarter pole to win impressively. He was clearly the class runner of the trial but he did win in style. SMYNIC pushed forward to work to the front from URELLA FELLA after 300m. He set up a slow tempo and couldn’t match the proven open class pacer in MURRANJI TRACK late. KILLER DRAGON began better than he did in trial two but still settled last of the five. He sprinted home nicely in the final 100m to run an eye-catching third. THELONGHAUL settled three back on the markers and finished fourth ahead of URELLA FELLA, which paced very roughly at the 700m mark when in the trail.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.2             Final Half: - 58.8               Margins: - 10m, 8m

MARYBOROUGH 28/07/19

Trial 1: - ANIMATED began very quickly from a wide gate to find the lead from HASHTAG with METRO MAN being third. The two trotters contesting the trial, JERICHOS TRUMPET and DELTASUN settled fourth and fifth respectively. ANIMATED set up a genuine tempo and HASHTAG, which recently returned to Victoria from a stint in New South Wales and Queensland, had the perfect run throughout. HASHTAG came to the outside at the right time and proved too good for ANIMATED in the latter stages. METRO MAN just held down third in front of DELTASUN, which did well to make up ground from last in slick time. JERICHOS TRUMPET ended up finishing last of the five runners.

Mile Rate: - 1.57.9           Final Half: - 59.3               Margins: - Short Head, 15m

Trial 2: - ROCKIN PRIDDY showed brilliant early pace to lead from the outside alley then took cover behind RAPTOVER A RAINBOW with a mile remaining. He came to the outside turning for home and won softly in the end. SURBITON HARTBREAK settled four back on the markers and quickly dashed up behind the leader approaching the home turn. He continued his momentum in the straight to finish second. RAPTOVER A RAINBOW began in fourth but strolled to the front in the back straight on the first occasion. He finished third in front of the New Zealander AZZA, which settled sixth on the markers and picked up ground in the latter stages. MISSUS MATILDA (Live or Die – Andrea Hayley 2.2.3, $4,875) was fifth on the markers throughout and finished in front of IT’S A BORG (3 back markers), MICHAELS MENAME (last the markers) and CREDON BOY (Four Starzzz Shark – Cullen Time 1.58.4, $19,308) (7 back markers).

Mile Rate: - 2.2.5             Final Half: - 58.4               Margins: - 8m, 5m

Trial 3: - CHAMPAGNE SISTERS (Roll With Joe – Trebla Trebla 1.58.5, $84,728) is nicely bred and continues to trial nicely. She pushed forward to lead and copped plenty of pressure from CANTSEEME (Auckland Reactor – Dalmont Jo 2.0.6, $117,603) in the final circuit but she showed a tenacity to get to the line when challenged late. FINAL PEACE settled four back on the markers and moved into the one out and one back trail at the 1100m when CANTSEEME extricated from the inside to park without cover. She loomed as the winner at the 100m but CHAMPAGNE SISTERS kicked on too well. CANTSEEME started to tire from the home turn but still performed soundly. KIDWITHAGRIN trailed the leader but started to yield ground from the 700m. ASH PARK galloped away and was retired from the trial.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.3             Final Half: - 58.2               Margins: - Short Head, 10m

Trial 4: - ASH PARK got away cleanly the second time around and was able to angle in behind the leader on the first corner. She used the sprint lane and accelerated nicely in the straight to win comfortably in preparation for her Breeders Crown heat performance at Bendigo. PREMONITION was the best to begin and tried to lead throughout. He hung out on the home turn and couldn’t withstand the late challenge of ASH PARK. CROCROCK (Pet Rock – Shes A Killer 1.59.6, $45,880) settled three back on the inside and moved into the death seat at the 600m. He finished third in front of PACIFIC ROCK (Pet Rock – Shesasign), which was fourth throughout. LA GIOCONDA (Tiz A Masterpiece – Mumsthaword Lombo 2.0.9, $17,758) was fifth for the entire journey and WHATA ROLLER (Roll With Joe – Whata Avenue 1.53.3, $92,536) was very slow to begin and finished at the tail of the field.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.5             Final Half: - 58.8               Margins: - 4m, 8m

Trial 5: - RULES DON’T APPLY (Muscle Hill – Abandoned Annie 2.10.5, $5,388) only scored by a narrow margin but he is showing some potential. He settled down a clear last, moved out three horses wide from the 1100m and got up on the outside of the leader COMMANDANTE half way down the back straight. He proved too strong for COMMANDANTE in the run to the post and had plenty in reserve. SER PATRICK (Bacardi Lindy – Duchess Pat 2.2.8, $28,453) settled one out and one back and was shuffled back to sixth with 600m remaining. He was doing his best work late to finish a nice third. SELF EXCLUSION finished fourth after being three back on the inside from the first turn. FAIRFIELD FLYER (Skyvalley – Princess Marauder 2.8.8, $8,650) trailed the leader and broke stride in the final 30m but was fifth across the line. DIAMOND REACTOR (Auckland Reactor – Superbarby 2.0.2, $15,421) raced without cover and beat REIGNING LILLIES (Majestic Son – Four Lillies 1.59.6, $61,863) to the post.

Mile Rate: - 2.9.7             Final Half: - 59.9               Margins: - Short Head, 10m

BLACKBOOKER: - Rules Don’t Apply

Trial 6: - ME PAT MELONE showed brilliant gate speed to lead before taking cover with 1400m remaining. He came away from the inside half way down the back straight on the final occasion and dashed to a clear lead before holding off the late challenge of ANGELS BREATH. ANGELS BREATH was three back on the markers but was shuffled back a place further when IMA ZIABEE circled around the field from fifth to find the lead at the 1400m. She picked up ground approaching the home turn to trail the leader into the straight before using the sprint lane and missing out narrowly. DO YA WANNA DONNA showed good gate speed to trail the leader early. She moved away from the inside to follow ME PAT MELONE at the 600m mark and tried hard for third. RED RUSTLER angled for the one out and one back trail when IMA ZIABEE made her move in the early stages but was left stranded without cover for the remainder of the trial. He finished fourth in front of KIMMYWHO, which was last for the majority of the trial and IMA ZIABEE broke stride momentarily on the home turn but was a beaten horse at the time.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.1             Final Half: - 61.7               Margins: - Neck, 6m

Trial 7: - CHU CHITS did plenty wrong in the trial but was able to secure victory by a narrow margin. She galloped wildly at the start but only lost approximately 25m then took advantage of a very slow tempo to tack on and zip to the lead. She then hung out badly from the bell with ABILINE, which led out before taking cover, eventually using the inside run to join CHU CHITS at the 500m mark. CHARLIE WALKER (Louey Louey Louey – Telern Tilly 2.6.3, $40,791) trailed the field for the majority of the journey and swung out three horses wide on the home turn. He made a lunge late but CHU CHITS held on in a close finish with ABILINE (Shoobees Place – Don’t Mess With Luv 1.58.8, $12,376) only a head away in third position.

Mile Rate: - 2.11.7           Final Half: - 63.2               Margins: - Head, Head

ECHUCA 28/07/19

Trial 1: - The trials were run in thick fog so it was difficult to see what transpired but in the first lap, the field were in single file with I ITS ME leading from SASSYFEET, WILMA and CATCHME IF YOUCAN settled last of the four. At the bell, CATCHME IF YOUCAN was the new leader from I ITS ME with the field back in single file order. As the field emerged out of the fog in the final circuit, WILMA had momentum through the middle and got up to defeat I ITS ME with SASSYFEET third and CATCHME IF YOUCAN dropping back to fourth.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.9             Final Half: - 61.0               Margins: - 2m, 2m

Trial 2: - ESTERNA (Art Major – Marissima 1.55.1, $80,166) is out of a very good race mare and showed a nice turn of speed at the finish to win drawing away. She settled three back on the inside before coming out wide from the 300m. MAGGIES MISSILE attempted to lead throughout after showing good gate speed to find the front running role shortly after the start. MAJESTIC TIME settled last of the five before coming to the outside to death seat with a lap remaining. He finished third in front of the 2yo pacer APHRODISIAC (Shadow Play – Soho Winslet 1.57.6, $27,819), which trailed the leader throughout.  The unraced trotter BELLA LUCY (Majestic Son – Hold That Grin 2.3.0, $27,813) finished fifth but she did everything right and was still with the pack on the home turn.

Mile Rate: - 2.8.6             Final Half: - 62.0               Margins: - 10m, 5m

TABCORP PARK, MELTON 30/07/19

Trial 1: - IS THAT A BID trailed the leader throughout before coming to the outside on the home turn and sprinting home too well to win seemingly with something in reserve. ANDOVER SUN wasn’t fully extended either and his run was excellent. He stepped away reasonably well from the standing start but galloped shortly afterwards losing approximately 30m. He was then checked by the galloping FLOATING MOUNTAIN turning into the front straight on the first occasion and lost another 10m. THEYALLENDINY set the pace and was overtaken on the home turn. He held down third from FLOATING MOUNTAIN, which broke stride twice, at the 1300m and again at the 300m. BOOTSANDALL (Cullens Legacy – A Beautiful Sound) was slow to begin and was always at the tail of the field.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.8             Final Half: - 59.13             Margins: - 2.5m, 19m

Trial 2: - LUCKY PATS SON showed great acceleration from the standing start to lead by a good margin early. He continued to build on that lead and scored impressively by 33m. NEXT THRU settled four back on the markers and came to the outside when turning for home. He finished off strongly without being pushed at any stage. JANNYS DREAM settled three back on the markers behind ARU AND ME, which won a trial at Bacchus Marsh several days earlier, and was able to get the better of that trotter on the line. LEFT RIGHT ANDCENTRE stepped away safely but trotted roughly shortly afterwards and eventually rolled into a gallop, losing all chance.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.6             Final Half: - 59.23             Margins: - 33m, 3.5m

Trial 3: - FOCUS STRIDE made it through to the Super Series Final so he appeared to be well placed in the trial. He was on the back of APOLOGIZE (Renaissance Man – Bovalai 1.57.5, $18,663) early but was left stranded without cover from the 1100m when APOLOGIZE worked to the front. He loomed up alongside the leader in the home straight and proved a little too strong. APOLOGIZE kicked on very well considering the credentials of the winner and showed enough ability to be able to win a race in the near future. RADICAL MAJOR was slow to begin and missed the start by approximately 15m. He worked up into the one out and one back trail at the bell and lost ground on the leading duo in the straight. PEANDAVASDELIGHT (Pet Rock – Libbys First) settled three back on the markers behind SOMEGLITZSOMEWHERE (Somebeachsomewhere – Glitterazzi), which led out then took cover, and worked passed that colt in the latter stages of the event.

Mile Rate: - 1.57.2           Final Half: - 59.61             Margins: - 1.5m, 13m

BLACKBOOKER: - Apologize

Trial 4: - SPRINGFIELD DESIRE was slowly away and settled at the tail of the field. He raced keenly in the middle stages but when he made his move out four horses wide from the quarter pole, he let down strongly and was able to snare victory. EXTORTION battled on bravely after racing without cover throughout and finished second. FALCONS RIZING trailed the leader BO YANG throughout and got up along the sprint lane to finish third. BO YANG was fourth in front of the luckless MAGICAL MOVER, which appeared to be bolting in the straight but had no clear run until the final 20m. CREDON STAR raced on the outside of MAGICAL MOVER in the one out and one back trail but started to yield ground with 300m remaining. FOUR LONELY NIGHTS raced out three horses wide in the early stages before being restrained to last then manoeuvred wide on the track again at the 900m mark. He dropped out to be last of the seven runners.

Mile Rate: - 1.58.9           Final Half: - 57.82             Margins: - 1.5m, 2m

BLACKBOOKER: - Springfield Desire

Trial 5: - FEAR THE YANKEE was on his worst behaviour at the start when he was resuming but still ran an almighty race to finish as close as he did. He led throughout in his trial victory over EMERALD STRIDE, which settled last of the three runners and moved up without cover from the 700m. BEEFOUR BACARDI trailed the leader and finished third but wasn’t fully extended in the latter stages.

Mile Rate: - 2.0.1             Final Half: - 57.86             Margins: - 1.5m, 3.5m

BLACKBOOKER: - Fear The Yankee

Trial 6: - ROCKINGWITHSIERRA was runner up in the Super Series Silver event and finished fifth in the Tatlow Stakes at her latest attempt so she is quite classy. She took on three unraced qualifiers and led throughout to win comfortably. SASSYS A TERROR (Western Terror – Born Again Sassy 1.55.0, $128,811) is a beautifully bred filly and looked good in her trial second. She came from last of the four and finished off stylishly in fast final sectionals. NIKKI JO (Art Major – Celibacy) came away from the back of the leader to pursue at the 600m but peaked in the final 100m. She finished third in front of POPNPENNIES (Village Jolt – Object Model), which raced three back on the markers throughout.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.7           Final Half: - 57.64             Margins: - 13.5m, Sh1/2head

BLACKBOOKER: - Sassy’s A Terror

Trial 7: - TZU NIEN has ability when he puts it altogether and he was able to lead throughout to win the trial in good time and without really being pushed. ZOOMAS LEGEND settled three back on the markers and chased valiantly. He might pick up a race at odds in the near future. BILL DISPUTE trailed the leader throughout and tired in the latter stages. HES THEMIGHTYSPIN was third early but galloped 100m after the start and was tailed off thereafter.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.0           Final Half: - 57.72             Margins: - 3m, 32.5m

Trial 8: - MY KIWI MATE backed up his impressive trial victory a week earlier with another good performance. He was taken back at the start and settled four back on the markers before moving to the death seat at the 600m. He worked passed the early leader TOP THE ACE in the home straight and scored softly. TOP THE ACE finished second in front of JAKARRAS ACE, which ended up being three back on the markers after being restrained at the start. HES GODS GIFT trialled well despite finishing fourth. He was left without cover in the early stages before being snagged back to last then he was the widest runner approaching the home turn. DELIGHTFUL SYSTEM finished last of the five runners after trailing the leader throughout.

Mile Rate: - 1.57.7           Final Half: - 56.94             Margins: - 4m, 5.5m

SHEPPARTON 30/07/19

Trial 1: - WESTERN SONADOR (Western Terror – Refresh Me 2.0.7, $34,605) settled midfield and progressed forward to find the lead from DEALMAKER (Rock N Roll Heaven – Miss Elvira 1.59.5, $23,938), which showed very good gate speed from a wide alley, with a mile remaining. ALL VICTORY HANOVER settled in third from LILBITAHENRYTEE (Grinfromeartoear – Lilbitabrownsugar 1.58.0, $25,763) and STORMTIDE (Mach Three – Aquae Sulis 2.3.0, $5,319). HESTY (Heston Blue Chip – Four Zoe 1.58.0, $18,440) was sixth in the single file order from PREACHERS DAUGHTER and SASSCILIAN (Maffioso – Sass and Bling), which was slow to begin. MANCHEGO (Betterthancheddar – Spice On Ice) galloped at the start and tacked on with 900m remaining. The field was strung out and HESTY was the first to make a move at the 700m mark with PREACHERS DAUGHTER following. WESTERN SONADOR let down brilliantly from the home turn however and raced well clear to win the trial impressively. DEALMAKER held down second from ALLVICTORY HANOVER. The horses at the back failed to make any ground with HESTY coming in fourth ahead of STORMTIDE, PREACHERS DAUGHTER, LILBITAHENRYTEE, SASSILIAN and MANCHEGO finished at the rear of the field.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.5             Final Half: - 58.4               Margins: - 25m, 1m

Trial 2: - ALDEBARAN WILLO progressed forward at the start to find the lead. He put in one or two rough strides on the first bend but he rolled along at a genuine tempo thereafter. It appeared he would win the trial by over 30m on the home turn but he started to get a little tired in the final 100m. PRETTYLILANGUS made up a lot of ground in the last 200m from his position of being three back on the markers and he seemingly coasted to the line. He is yet to be placed in his career but he might be a big improver next season. SUPER ANGUS (Angus Hall – Senita) trailed the leader and finished third and was well clear of CINKARI, which made up a lot of ground after making an early error. HIGHLAND HILL (Muscle Hill - Whitney Grace 2.5.6, $44,155) is a nicely bred type and finished fifth after beginning slowly. TEQUILA BREE (Bacardi Lindy – Maori Sunshine 2.3.2, $45,075) settled a distant fourth and ended up dropping back to sixth late with the THE RED WARRIOR (Bacardi Lindy – Spring Fly 2.5.1, $25,456) being tailed off throughout after galloping in the score up.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.6             Final Half: - 61.5               Margins: - 16m, 20m

Trial 3: - WAYONBYE pushed forward from the middle of the line and was able to work to the front passed ROYAL BENGAL with a mile remaining. CATCH A MOMENT was three back on the markers in front of FIRESTORM RED, LETSROCKLETSROLL, SPUNKYOLA and the open class trotter MAORI LAW dropped back to be last of the seven runners. FIRESTORM RED was the first to leave the single file formation with 700m remaining and LETSROCKLETSROLL followed. FIRESTORM RED moved up to the wheel of the leader on the home turn but WAYONBYE was travelling too well and went to the line under a strong grip to win easily. FIRESTORM RED held second from the fast finishing CATCH A MOMENT, which was held up for a run at a vital stage. ROYAL BENGAL was fourth ahead of SPUNKYOLA and LETSROCKLETSROLL. MAORI LAW lost a few lengths when the field accelerated out of the back straight but he held his own in the latter stages in a slick half of 56.6 seconds so under the circumstances, he performed soundly.

Trial 4: - STARSBYTHEBEACH settled four back on the markers and appreciated a genuine tempo throughout when he moved up into the one out and one back trail from the 700m and had a good kick left at the finish. CRESCO GOLDIGGER (Sportswriter – Twenty-Four Carat Gold) is an unraced gelding for trainer Gary Pekin and followed the eventual winner in the last circuit from his position of being six back on the markers. He finished off well for second in reasonable time. WENTHESTARZZZALINE (Four Starzzz Shark – Chelsea Hanover 2.1.5, $46,861) led and kept that position when GALACTIC GAL came to the outside and challenged with 1500m remaining. The pair set up a genuine tempo mid-race and they tired late but were still able to finish third and fourth respectively. MISSEDTHELASTRAIN pulled his way into third position at the start and angled onto the markers. He continued to race fiercely until the 700m where he started to tire. He finished fifth in front of THE DIAMOND KING (5 back markers), FATOUCHE (7 back markers) and ARTISTIC HEAT was last throughout after missing the start by approximately 25m.

Mile Rate: - 2.2.0             Final Half: - 59.3               Margins: - 4m, 16m

Trial 5: - JIMMY COME HOLME began quickly and was the first to the markers but took cover behind TWEET ABOUT IT after kicking through briefly. He enjoyed the perfect run on the leaders back and pounced in the straight. TWEET ABOUT IT kicked on well when challenged and finished second well clear of JULIACA, which remained three back on the markers throughout. DAYSEEDEE settled sixth on the markers and lobbed the one out and one back trail at the 800m when CRACKED PEPPER moved up without cover from seventh. She finished fourth ahead of MISTER JOE MAJOR, which joined the one wide line from last, and KISSING GAME was probably hitting the line better than any of the beaten brigade despite finishing seventh. CRACKED PEPPER made ground in the back straight but the effort took a toll and she dropped out to finish last of the eight runners.

KILMORE 31/07/19

Trial 1: - MIRAKURU showed ability at his last preparation and he should continue to improve with the benefit of racing. He was very keen at the start of his trial performance so he went forward and when he found the front, he wanted to drop the bit and switch off. He is still learning but he won by a large margin and recorded handy time in the process. ANOTHER MORTGAGE ended up being three back on the markers behind BET THE LIMIT when MIRAKURU crossed to the lead at the 1600m. She ran into a distant second with BET THE LIMIT in third and NISHABRO (Blissfull Hall – Yeronga Ecila 2.2.7, $12,580) was last throughout, eventually retiring from the trial on the home turn after yielding ground from the 500m mark.

Mile Rate: - 1.59.7           Final Half: - 58.3               Margins: - 15m, 15m

Trial 2: - The open class trial only had four runners engaged with two horses on the front line, BUSTER BRADY commencing from the inside of the second line and HIGHERTHANANEAGLE starting from about a third line back. SPINNERS BOY led from VINNY CHASE, BUSTER BRADY and HIGHERTHANANEAGLE around the first turn. It was a very slow tempo in the early stages and when BUSTER BRADY cut loose at the 700m, the other trio didn’t chase so the multiple Country Cups winner of last season ran a quick final half and won by a large margin. VINNY CHASE got to second from SPINNERS BOY and HIGHERTHANANEAGLE was close up in fourth but none of the beaten horses were extended at any stage.

Mile Rate: - 2.6.9             Final Half: - 55.5               Margins: - 30m, head

Trial 3: - HAVE NO CHOICE (Four Starzzz Shark – Rock Melody 2.2.6, $19,300) settled three back on the markers before coming to the outside at the 1300m. He had a decent crack for the lead in the front straight but couldn’t find the front until CREDON BOY (Four Starzzz Shark – Cullen Time 1.58.4, $19,308) pricked his ears up and lost concentration when he heard the bell. HAVE NO CHOICE was strong at the finish and won well despite having to work hard mid-race. DIESEL DON started off behind the leader then was shuffled back one position further when HAVE NO CHOICE crossed to the lead. He got around CREDON BOY in the back straight and held on to second placing. ISLAND ROCKNROLL was four back on the markers and paced very roughly when switching back to the sprint lane before recovering to finish third. BELLISSIMA settled last and was the widest runner into the straight. She wasn’t far away from the top three and CREDON BOY never travelled well after racing greenly at the winning post with a lap to run, dropping out to be a long last.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.8             Final Half: - 60.1               Margins: - 5, Head

Trial 4: - ITS BEAUJOLAIS began very quickly to find the lead and was unchallenged throughout. She skipped clear on the home turn and won by a large margin. IM THE MIGHTYGRAMPS settled three back on the markers behind OUTSIDE FIGHTER and was able to run into second placing with NIKKIS MACH (Mach Three – Nikkis Delight 1.59.4, $55,563) picking up third. OUTSIDE FIGHTER dropped back to fourth and ISLAND ROCKYROAD (Pet Rock – Lavra Cloe) was last throughout, dropping off in the back straight on the final occasion.

Mile Rate: - 2.3.4             Final Half: - 58.0               Margins: - 12m, 2m

Trial 5: - FEAR THE YANKEE ran to the lead shortly after the start before taking cover behind ERO CARPE DIEM. That pair were well clear of the remainder of the field with ERO CARPE DIEM getting the prize. FEAR THE YANKEE was never released from the back of the winner however and he did have plenty left in reserve. HOT ZIGGITY came out of the gate under a strong grip and was immediately 15m behind the leading duo. He was three back on the markers throughout and finished third in front of CHU CHITS, which missed the start by 25m. CALEDONIAN SPIRIT made an error just before the start and was tailed off throughout.

Mile Rate: - 2.5.6             Final Half: - 61.7               Margins: - 5m, 40m

Trial 6: - RIPPLE EFFECT showed brilliant gate speed to lead clearly then set up a slow tempo through the middle stages. TRE COOL trailed RIPPLE EFFECT until angling to the outside on the home turn. TRE COOL won in the sprint up the straight from RIPPLE EFFECT with LET’S GO BETTER in third position after being three horses wide into the home straight. The outstanding trotter BIG JACK HAMMER finished last of the four but after settling at the tail and not having much room in the straight, his effort was sound.

Mile Rate: - 2.4.0             Final Half: - 58.2               Margins: - 2m, 4m
