A new-look TrotsVision launches Saturday night at Tabcorp Park Melton as ‘feature racing season’ in Victoria bursts into top gear with TAB Smoken Up Sprint night.

Powerful fresh opening titles will herald a new era for TrotsVision, featuring some of Victoria’s top drivers, produced by Harness Racing Victoria’s (HRV) broadcast technical production partner, Creative Technology (CT).

“Huge thanks to the drivers that took time out of their busy schedules to make their way into Melbourne to take part in this exciting and colourful shoot,” HRV General Manager – Media and Communications Cody Winnell said.

“We’re thrilled with the finished product. It will set the tone each Saturday night as fans settle in to watch the extended coverage that only TrotsVision provides.

“The project brief was to be contemporary, powerful, colourful and to showcase our product. A shout out to Rohan Wilson, Peter McIntosh and their team at CT for the way in which they have overseen this project.”

HRV announced this morning that its three biggest feature meetings, Pryde’s EasiFeed Victoria Cup night (October 8), Inter Dominion Finals (December 10) and Del-Re National A.G. Hunter Cup (February 4), would feature on Sky Racing and free-to-air television Channel 78 (68 in regional areas) via Racing.com.

Interim CEO Fiona Mellor also welcomed renowned media man Ryan Phelan to the HRV stable as a consultant to work with the existing team to guide TrotsVision to a new level.

“These next six months are so vitally important for us and we have such a wonderful opportunity to really showcase one of the greatest groups of harness stars we’ve seen in modern times,” Mellor said.

Citing research from Gemba produced this year, Mellor said harness racing stood to benefit significantly from further engaging fans in other racing codes through extended broadcasts.

“A significant number of thoroughbred racing and ‘non-racing’ fans engage with harness racing each month, meaning there is a substantial group of people engaging regularly with our sport that we can connect with further through extended broadcasts,” she said.

A new broadcast set has been installed this week at the Melton studio, protests will now be beamed live on TrotsVision, coverage will feature more interviews, feature stories, engaging discussion and the best form analysis in the land.

Jason Bonnington, Rob Auber, Shannon O’Sullivan and Dan Mielicki will drive Saturday night’s showcased coverage, getting under way at 5.45pm.
