Having swept in with big reputations the Lazarus Victoria Oaks raiders not only got the job done in the heats but their camps warned they will only get better come Saturday night's $150,000 final.

The fillies showdown is advantage Barry Purdon's Belle Of Montana after the winner of six of her eight starts drew gate one, providing a suite of options for reinsman Zach Butcher, who had to do plenty to overcome his back row heat draw.

"It was a pretty outstanding effort," Butcher told TrotsVision in the wake of Saturday night's half-neck heat win over Miss Streisand. "She was three wide going into that bend and having to cover a bit of extra ground and to pick that leader up I thought was a pretty good effort.

"It always felt like I was going to get her. She's a pretty gutsy filly and she really dug in that last bit."

And, Butcher said, she should "get better with the run". "Just blew out that last bit, which is understandable, but I think she will be bigger and stronger next week," he said.

Similair sentiments came from Kylie Rasmussen's Queensland camp after her smart filly, Smart As Camm Be, won Saturday night's second heat by 1.5m.

"She was having a good look around and she desperately needed the run," Rasmussen told TrotsVision. "We had to factor in the big trip down and new surroundings, so I fully expect she will be much much better next week.

"Just the trip itself is a big learning curve for her and to her credit she's been very calm and has handled it well. It's just a bit of work that she's missed and we'll definitely pick that up this week."
