Regardless of what transpires on the racetrack at Solvalla on Sunday, Greg Sugars will never forget his travels across the globe to compete in one of the world’s greatest races with star Victorian trotter Just Believe.
And the entire journey to Elitloppet 2023 will be documented across a series of feature stories by respected Harness Racing Victoria broadcaster Ryan Phelan, who has followed the pair to Sweden.
In the first of these videos, Phelan visits Sugars and Just Believe at the Upplands Väsby property of Hall of Fame trainer Stig H Johansson and chats about the trek from Melbourne to their new home in Europe.
Sugars talks about the condition of the horse, his Elitloppet expectations and what lies ahead this week and beyond.
Johansson, Elitloppet’s winningest driver, makes a brief appearance and is expected to feature in Thursday’s video with Just Believe’s trainer Jess Tubbs, who arrives in Sweden the day prior.
