WATCH: Sanderson and Leedham to fly Victorian flag

Ryan Sanderson and Jordan Leedham will represent Victoria in the Australasian Young Drivers Championship later this year.

The series returns to New Zealand for the first time in seven years and will see the next generation of harness racing talent from both sides of the Tasman go head-to-head across 10 heats at four venues, culminating with the big finale on NZ Trotting Cup Day at Addington on Tuesday, November 10.

The Championship will be held at:

  • Wednesday, November 4 – Cambridge Raceway – 2 races
  • Friday, November 6 – Alexandra Park, Auckland – 3 races
  • Sunday, November 8 – Ashburton Raceway – 4 races
  • Tuesday, November 10 – New Zealand Trotting Cup Day, Addington Raceway – 1 race

The championship will feature representatives from each Australian state and three New Zealand representatives.

All drivers must have been under 25 as of January 1, 2026.

James Herbertson won last year’s Australasian Young Drivers Championship, but is too old to defend his title in 2026.
