The impact of Art Major on age group racing in this country knows no bounds. The results of the APG Vicbred Super Series for two, three and four-year-olds at Melton over the last fortnight emphasizes this.
The Alabar Bloodstock flagship stallion left the very impressive winners of both Group 2 $100,000 Finals for four-year-olds on Saturday night in Fox Dan and The Art Of Success.
Art Major also sired the winners of the Vicbred Silver for the two-year-old boys and the Vicbred Bronze for three-year-old colts with the siblings Bay Style and Zanda Man respectively one night earlier.
The pair were bred by Mount Gambier couple Des and Heather Glynn out of the Big Jim mare Miss Atlanta.
The champion Australian juvenile sire on a record eight occasions and the six-time leading three-year-old sire, Art Major has sired a phenomenal 83 individual Group 1 winners and 246 individual Stakes winners in the southern hemisphere.
The haul includes no fewer than 16 individual Vicbred Super Series champions who have notched 19 victories between them.
The list comprises the winners of the two-year-old boys in Major Secret (2013) and Heza Son Of Agun (2021), the two-year-old fillies Our Femme Fatale (2012), Nostra Villa (2017), Kualoa (2018) and Amore Vita (2021), the three-year-old colts Philadelphia Man (2012), Messini (2014) and Out To Play (2019), the three-year-old fillies My Bella Starr (2014), Kualoa (2019), Amore Vita (2022) and Shoesomejoy (2024), the four-year-old males Messini (2015), Tam Major (2019) and Fox Dan (2026) and the four-year-old mares namely Princess Tiffany (2020), Amore Vita (2023) and The Art Of Success (2026).
- Perth breeder-owner Robert Watson landed a treble at Melton on Friday with the Vicbred 3YO Silver winner Soho Trump and the 3YO Bronze victors Soho Piastri and Soho Amaryllis. The latter pair were sired by Soho Tribeca, who won the Vicbred Super Series himself as a four-year-old in 2017
- Volstead was represented by his third individual Vicbred champion in the longshot winner of the four-year-old males’ division, Sam Nien. The gelding was bred by Pat Driscoll’s Yabby Dam Farms
- Gunforhire, who won a supporting race on Vicbred Finals night, was bred by Sydney businessman Glenn Holland out of a very close relative to the mighty Leap To Fame
