The most favoured horses on Sulky.App are calculated by utilising information such as horse-specific sectional data, race and driver statistics and a variety of likely speed maps.
Below is the most favoured horses on Sulky.App for each race Saturday night at Melton.
These horses may not be the best rated sectionally, but the speed map likely works in their favour and against the better rated horses.
RACE 1: JILLIBYJACKSPARROW (3)
Jillibyjacksparrow (3) has the gate speed to lead this field and he also has been racing well sectionally. He loves the 1720m trip and this race looks to be his to lose. Captain Hammerhead (5) is a class runner and can’t be dismissed in this field. However, he doesn’t look to find the fence where he is suited. Curly James' (10) numerical form doesn’t look overly impressive, but his sectional times have been strong. Fiamma (4) is a top mare, but she will need to make her own luck which could leave her vulnerable late.
SELECTIONS: JILLIBYJACKSPARROW (3), CAPTAIN HAMMERHEAD (5), CURLY JAMES (10), FIAMMA (4)
RACE 2: ONE OVER ALL (9)
One Over All (9) is a classy horse who is racing well. His recent sectionals are great and as he has behaviour concerns at the start of races, his barrier of nine is best for him as he has space and time to get into a trot. Ebonys Avenger (1) and Aldebaran Vera (2) are in-form mares who have found suitable barriers to be competitive. Aldebaran Zeus (8) is having his third start this preparation and should be better from his first two starts since arriving back from America. Mufasa Metro (10) is first-up and contests a difficult barrier, but he is good enough to win at his best.
SELECTIONS: ONE OVER ALL (9), EBONYS AVENGER (1), ALDEBARAN VERA (2), ALDEBARAN ZEUS (8)
RACE 3: FIRST DANCE (9)
First Dance (9) has been mixing her form of late, but she looks to find an easier race here. Dukes Choice (1) and Smart And Mighty (2) are racing well and have suitable barriers where they shouldn’t have to cover significant extra distance. Ghost Of Time (7) and Roryville (10) have good recent sectional times but will need to overcome poor barriers here.
SELECTIONS: FIRST DANCE (9), DUKES CHOICE (1), SMART AND MIGHTY (2), GHOST OF TIME (7)
RACE 4: SHANLOU (10)
Shanlou (10) has the best recent sectionals in this field and comes out of barrier nine. She is likely to find a good position near the front of the field as she follows through Nakula (2) who has great gate speed. Miss Idaho (7) and Perfect In Pink (8) are both racing very well sectionally and have a lot of ability, however the speed map does not work in their favour. Look Like Diamonds (4) may find a forward position with her great gate speed and could be a threat if she finds a better race position than her talented rivals.
SELECTIONS: SHANLOU (10), MISS IDAHO (7), PERFECT IN PINK (8), LOOK LIKE DIAMONDS (4)
RACE 5: SURFINGMAKESCENTS (4)
Surfingmakescents' (4) recent best sectional performances are significantly faster than the rest of this field. She is now third-up this preparation and should be getting close to her best. Le Belle Bijoux (11), Ideal Assassin (7) and Joelita (10) are great mares who have found poor barriers in this race. The race map does not suit them, but they may still be too good.
SELECTIONS: SURFINGMAKESCENTS (4), LE BELLE BIJOUX (11), IDEAL ASSASSIN (7), JOELITA (10)
RACE 6: SEQUENCE (5)
Sequence (5) has won her last two starts where she has worked forward and found the front. She’s likely to find the front eventually here as well and might be too hard to run down. Picket Wire (3) could be the first to find the fence here, she is racing well and with a good trip she could be flashing home late. Rapid Return (9) and Exalted (11) are top mares, but the race map has them needing to cover significant extra distance wider on the track to win.
SELECTIONS: SEQUENCE (5), PICKET WIRE (3), RAPID RETURN (9), EXALTED (11)
RACE 7: SURFSUP TIGERPIE (4)
This race looks to be one of the most competitive on the card. Surfsup Tigerpie (4) is an in-form mare who is also a great sprinter. She is unlikely to find the front initially with the horses inside her having faster gate speed, but looks to be dangerous even if needing to wait for one run late. Imagination Oro (5), Ruby Wingate (3) and Aliza Hill (2) are great chances if they find good positions.
SELECTIONS: SURFSUP TIGERPIE (4), IMAGINATION ORO (5), RUBY WINGATE (3), ALIZA HILL (2)
RACE 8: KYVALLEY MAVEN (8)
Although he’s first-up after a long break, Kyvalley Maven (8) has significantly better sectionals than the rest of this field. If he can overcome the awkward barrier and stay in a trot, he should be hard to beat. Preferred Love (2), Ewing (6) and Rocky Valley (3) are all great chances if they can find a good position in running.
SELECTIONS: KYVALLEY MAVEN (8), PREFERRED LOVE (2), EWING (6), ROCKY VALLEY (3)
RACE 9: BELLE NEIGE (9)
Belle Neige (9) and Aldebaran Brooke (11) have the best recent sectionals in this field and look to be the classiest runners. The Girls Gotflair (10) is in career-best form having won her last four starts. This looks to be her toughest test. Oopzee Daizee (4) is a progressive type and may be able to utilise her barrier to get a head start on the top mares drawn on the back line.
SELECTIONS: BELLE NEIGE (9), ALDEBARAN BROOKE (11), THE GIRLS GOTFLAIR (10), OOPZEE DAIZEE (4)
