Close relations to classics and cups winners, in particular, those that have won at the top tier level, are always a highlight of a yearling sale.

The trotting contingent at this year’s Nutrien Equine Melbourne Yearling Sale, which will held at the Oaklands Junction sales complex on Sunday, boasts plenty of siblings of Group 1 winners.

There are brothers to the Breeders Crown champion Cover Of Darkness and Alpha Male (Need For Speed) and half-brothers to the Vicbred champion and Maori Mile winner Arcee Phoenix, the triple Breeders Crown champion Im Ready Jet, the Breeders Crown winner Just A Bit Touchy, the Breeders Crown and Vicbred winner Cruisin Around, the Vicbred champions Kyvalley Clichy, Needabacardi and Banglez and the Vicbred Platinum Classic winners Aldebaran Misty and Hes A Hammer.

The sale also features half-sisters to the triple Vicbred champions and dual Oaks winners Claudy’s Princess and Spidergirl, the dual Vicbred champion Always Ready, the Derby and Oaks winner Une Belle Allure, the Trotters Oaks winner Pretty Majestic, the Vicbred champions Kinvara Sue and Valtino and the Vicbred Platinum Classic winners Illawong Armstrong and Keayang Ignite.

The trotting catalogue boasts the progeny of numerous top flight racemares. They include the dual Oaks winner She’s An Image, the Derby and cups winner Illawong Helios, the dual Vicbred champions Kinvara Sue and Aldebaran Eve, the Breeders Crown champion Aldebaran Ay M, the Oaks winners Monaro Mia and Pizza Queen, the cups winners Heavenly Sister and Regal Pepperell, and other top trotting mares in Aleppo Midas, Beautiful River Fra and My Valerie.

They are also eligible for the Vicbred, Breeders Crown and Need For Speed Series.
