The Victorian standardbred breeding industry will be on show next weekend when more than 190 Vicbred-eligible yearlings go under the hammer at Oaklands Junction for the Nutrien Equine sale.

Of the 190 youngsters, 37 are Vicbred Pure eligible providing owners with the opportunity of a $12,000 bonus for their horse’s first win as a two, three or four-year-old. They are also eligible to contest Vicbred races including the Vicbred Platinum series.

Vicbred Pure bred horses will earn prizemoney of $14,251 for their initial success as part of a range of initiatives announced  by Harness Racing Victoria on Wednesday.

Among the sires with multiple Vicbred Pure entries are Ride High (6 lots), Poster Boy (5), Elite Stride (5), Soho Tribeca (3), Vincent (3), American Ideal (2), Always B Miki (2) and Always Ready (2).

There’s siblings to the ‘black type’ performers Pectacular, Tam Major, Out To Play, Fly Like An Eagle, Idyllic, Askmeilltellya, Delightfull Tammy, Mach Doro, Beach Garden, Sophie’s Ideal and Soho Angel.

Smart racemares with Vicbred Pure yearlings at the sale include Village Witch, Red Hot Roxy, Garden Gate Tina Ca, Come Dance With Me and the trotters Spidergirl, Illawong Helios, Heavenly Sister, Illawong Armstrong, Miss Blissful and Regal Pepperell.

As well, five colts and a filly entered for the sale are eligible for the New Zealand Sires Stakes series.
