The drivers have their say ahead of the First 4 jackpot at Melton

A $10,000 jackpot has been added to the First 4 pool for Saturday night’s TAB Lazarus Free For All at Melton and the drivers have had a say on the chances of their horses ahead of the 1720m event.

1: Curly James ($2.70)

Trainer: Courtney Laker / Driver: David Moran

Driver’s thoughts: Our bloke is going to have to improve. If he can’t hold the front – I would have thought from barrier one, he would be pretty hard to beat.

2: Supreme Dominator ($51)

Trainer: Joe Pace / Driver: Adrian Pace

Driver’s thoughts: It looks like Curly James will lead and hold the front. I hope something comes across and gives us some cover.

3: Sew What ($26)

Trainer: Dianne Giles / Driver: Jackie Barker

Driver’s thoughts: The draw is a bit tricky, I am probably going to have to go forward at the start to get a spot. I don’t think she is quite as good when you do use her early, even though she has got good gate speed. I will try and get a good spot doing as little work as possible.

4: Triple Eight ($5)

Trainer: Jess Tubbs / Driver: Greg Sugars

Driver’s thoughts: I’m not sure where he is going to land. We will try and have a forward spot if we can. He is racing well and hopefully he can get a good run.

5: Kosimo ($34)

Trainer: Julie Douglas / Driver: Jack Laugher

Driver’s thoughts: He can’t do much work early and there is a bit of speed drawn inside of him. He will probably just be driven for luck. He is going really well, but it is a strong race.

6: Tango Tara ($6.50)

Trainer: Andy Gath / Driver: Kate Gath

Driver’s thoughts: He’s going terrific but won’t be able to find the fence which makes it tough. He’ll run a good race.

7: Bulletproof Boy ($41)

Trainer: Scott Ewen / Driver: Scott Ewen

Driver’s thoughts: He hasn’t got the best draw, but he has got plenty of gate speed. He is first-up, so I will just go back and try and get in somewhere and hope he gets home soundly.

9: Heza Son Of Agun ($4.60)

Trainer: Matthew Craven / Driver: Matthew Craven

Driver’s thoughts: Hopefully he can go behind Curly James from eight if the emergency doesn’t get a run. If not, hopefully we can be three fence.

10: Helluva ($16)

Trainer: John Justice / Driver: Ewa Justice

Driver’s thoughts: I don’t think it is the worst draw – he could be three fence at worst, which would be a good spot for him at Melton.

11: Mach Dan ($4.60)

Trainer: Clayton Tonkin / Driver: Mark Pitt

Driver’s thoughts:  Unavailable for comment.
