Girl power ‘reins’ supreme in Team Teal campaign

Female drivers are playing a starring role in the 2024 Team Teal campaign, reining in the winners as funds raised reached $70,000 at the end of the third week.

The campaign, which has raised more than the same time last year, continues to build momentum.

Last week, Teal drivers won 62 races nationally, taking the overall tally to over 170 wins.

An impressive seven Team Teal drivers notched up wins at the Echuca meeting last week, headlined by reinswoman Ewa Justice’s treble.

On Wednesday this week at Bendigo, female drivers kept driving the campaign home with five wins across the card.

On Saturday, attention turns to Melton for the features, the Lyn McPherson Memorial Breed For Speed Gold Final and Australian Trotting Grand Prix.

TAB trader Jason Cauchi said: “Girl power could continue for Team Teal this weekend with Kate Gath and Kerryn Manning both set for busy nights at Melton with six drives. Race three looks a great opportunity to raise more funds – Kerryn and Kate will likely drive the two favourites in the market”.

Karen Livingstone AM, Head of Fundraising and Development ANZGOG/WomenCan said: “We are thrilled with the third-week results of Team Teal. It is an outstanding number of wins and funds earned. Similar to women facing an ovarian cancer diagnosis, reinswomen dug deep to find extra determination. Every dollar raised will advance research and save lives and that is worth the extra grit.”

The campaign runs until March 15. You can donate to the campaign HERE
