The short quote didn’t stop some big TAB punters unleashing on Queensland champ Leap to Fame before his Cranbourne Gold Cup victory on Saturday night.
Bets of $10,000 to place at $1.04, $10,000 to win at $1.18 and $5000 to win at $1.08 all landed when Grant Dixon’s star pacer dominated the Group 2 feature in track record time.
Among the big losing bets on Victorian harness racing last week was a $5000 wager on Im Ready Jet, who was beaten narrowly by Mufasa Metro in the Bruce Skeggs Memorial Cranbourne Trotters Cup.
