Learning the ropes is The Answer Curran is looking for

Danny Curran will be in the hot seat with hopefully less questions and doubts when his filly, The Answer, goes around in the VHRC Caduceus 3YO Classic at Melton Entertainment Park on Saturday night.

The 70-year-old put the Caduceus on the radar for the three-year-old filly after a strong third at Shepparton earlier this month.

“I was very happy at Shepparton, if she doesn’t get the wobbles on the home turn she runs a clear second … there was only a pimple in it for second and third,” Curran said.

“I looked at the field and I late nominated her. The field was similar to what we raced against at Shepparton.”

From a short four-start career, the daughter of Sweet Lou broke through for a win in her third start at Melton on New Year’s Eve.

“In the previous two runs, she has got home very good. But they haven’t gone super quick as well,” he said.

“It’s just an education. The trip away and the float and all that business. It’s all a part of the education. It would be good to see her keep improving and she might progress to a nice race.”

The Answer, who’ll be piloted by Michelle Phillips, has drawn the back row for the race, which isn’t the worst-case scenario for Curran.

“We have drawn nine, we just hope to get a nice little trip behind them,” he said. “She is no good in front, she just star gazes, she’s a good follower.”

The Answer will go around at 9.41pm in the VHRC Caduceus 3YO Classic at Melton Entertainment Park. Watch the extended coverage live and free on www.TrotsVision.com.au
