LISTEN: Corey provides an update after serious Melton fall

Reinsman Corey O’Donoghue was a little worse for wear when he caught up with Toby McKinnon and Steve Cleave on SENTrack’s TrotsLife today.

Both O’Donoghue and Alannah Logie required medical attention after Logie’s horse, As She Says, broke gait and fell leading into the final turn of Friday night’s second race at Melton. This checked O’Donoghue’s pacer, Micton Mouse, who also took a tumble.

“It was just one of those things that just happened. It couldn’t be avoided,” O’Donoghue said.

The result of the fall has caused injury to the 26-year-old’s lower body.

“Broken femur and I had a rod put in that yesterday,” he said. “Apart from that, that’s the only damage I’ve got at the moment.”

Scans cleared Logie of serious injury.
