TAB punter’s $50k collect foiled by barnstorming finish

A barnstorming finale from Community Art provided a horror moment for one TAB customer at Charlton on Thursday last week.

The punter’s $10,000 bet at $5 on Midnight Dancer looked home when the AJ and BJ Tindale-trained pacer shot well clear turning for home, but was foiled in the shadows of the post by Trevor Dawson’s six-year-old.

Community Art rocketed late and forged clear to beat Midnight Dancer by more than 2m on the line.

Below are some of the other big bets taken by the TAB on Victorian harness racing last week.

It was a day to remember for Aaron Dunn. Not only did he go back-to-back from last year to this year in the Matthews Petroleum Hamilton Pacing Cup, he also trained the quinella, with Forty Love taking the honours and last year’s winner Dee Roe finishing second, driven by Jackie Barker.

While the ink is far from dry on the $500,000 Summer Of Glory bonus cheque, superstar mare Keayang Zahara is on track to provide her connections with a windfall after her effortless win in the Group 1 $100,000 Aldebaran Park Maori Mile.
