Several big name stars come out to play at Melton on Saturday night and so Burning Questions rallied some of the biggest surnames in the game to break it down.
Andy Gath, Greg Sugars and John Justice joined Jason Bonnington to sort through the Melton card, which includes the Woodlands Stud Pace.
Sugars will pilot Group 1 star Better Eclipse from a tricky gate eight and said he’d likely look to free his topline pacer from the inside line as soon as possible.
“I think my best chance of winning this race is trying to get off the fence as quickly as I can, so whether that’s pushing through if there’s a gap or just being negative right from the word go to get off, I think that’s what I have to do – get him out in the clear,” Sugars said.
“I’m really happy with the horse. All his runs of late have been terrific, can’t fault the horse in himself. Always at this level you need a little ounce of good luck on your side, but if he gets it I’m sure he will be hard to beat.”
It was part of a big Burning Questions agenda, which also included:
- Does three-week break and tricky field leave the Queen at risk or is her lengthy, brilliant sprint simply too darn brisk?
- Have the draws ensured that Tilly simply has the edge she needs or will her mate named Treachery go wild with early speed?
- Can the fact they follow through behind the fastest starter make defeating Tango and DA just that bit harder?
- Who will lead from Lou and Sherlock in the second race and if they wage a war can Final blaze on by with pace?
