Group 1-winning mare Treachery has undergone surgery to repair a hairline fracture in a rear pastern bone, and there’s a high level of confidence about her making a return to the track next year.
The Emma Stewart-trained pacer was scratched from Saturday night’s Queen Of The Pacific following the discovery of her injury, which presented after a third-placing in the Angelique Club Pace on October 21.
Owner-breeder Bruce Cameron told thetrots.com.au that Treachery had screws inserted into her leg on Wednesday last week.
“She will have a four-month rest with a really good prognosis of a return to racing around July next year,” Cameron said.
Treachery won the Group 1 The Allwood in South Australia at her second career start back in March 2020 and has gone on to build a wonderful career record of 14 victories from 29 runs.
She has really emerged as a top-line performer this year, winning seven straight races before third placings in The Make Mine Cullen and Angelique Club Pace during the Elizabeth Clarke Mares Triple Crown series.
