Six-figure Belle proving a APTS bargain buy for Fred Spiteri

Bought for $6000 at the 2018 Australasian Premier Trotting Sale and now a winner of $109,460, Majestic Belle became the latest sale graduate to join the hundred-grand club.

The five-year-old daughter of Majestic Son posted her third success from her last five outings when she led throughout at Ballarat last Friday, beating a handy field including Mufasa Metro, Namoscar, Little Yankee and others.

She reeled off her last 800 metres in 57.9 seconds.

“She’s run quarters in 28 seconds before but she’s probably more dour than she’s fast,” part-owner and trainer Fred Spiteri said.

Majestic Belle has not done a great deal of racing, having averaged 10 starts a season. In three seasons of racing, she has won seven races, been placed 12 times from 32 starts and has worked her way down to an NR83 mark.

As a three-year-old she put an exclamation mark on her career when she took out the Group 1 $100,000 Vicbred Super Series Final at Melton.

“I don’t want to knock her around because we plan to breed from her later,” Spiteri said. “She’ll have one more start and then I’ll let her down and bring her back in the warmer weather.”

Spiteri races Majestical Belle in partnership with friends Dave Edwards and Graeme Revell.

He and partner Mandy Payne have nine horses in work at Rockbank including Megeve, a winner of three of her last five starts, Normandy Belle and the Breed For Speed Silver winner Electrojet.
