90-year-old Josie Justice back in the winner’s circle

Almost three decades after her last success and at the amazing age of 90, Josie Justice is back training winners.

Justice, who is the mother of high-profile harness racing participants John and Lance, prepared High In The Sky for victory at Tabcorp Park Melton on Friday night.

John partnered the former New Zealander in the Woodlands Stud Trotters Handicap and produced a lovely drive to score by nearly 4m on the line.

The success was Josie Justice’s first since Grand Revival won at Globe Derby in July of 1995.

“It’s really very special,” she told TrotsVision post-race.

“It’s just a wonderful thing. To think that I’m 90 and I still love my horses and pacers today as much as I did years ago.

“Every minute that I’ve spent with them has been a very wonderful life.”

The horsewoman had only returned to training last year and had her first runner at the races since 2002 when Daisy Starzzz made her debut at Bendigo in August.
