Pacing For Pink: Big fundraiser ready for showcase Sunday

It’s gotten bigger and better every year and it all comes to a head this Sunday.

Pacing for Pink has splashed colour across Victoria’s tracks throughout May as reinswomen and men don their commemorative silks to raise awarness and cash to help the McGrath Foundation take the fight to breast cancer.

“There are so many people out there that we don’t know that have it, or they don’t even know they have it until they get diagnosed,” co-ordinator and reinswoman Donna Castles said. “The way the industry can get behind it is to wear our pink pants and create some exposure.”

And they’ve done that more than ever this year.

“The first year we created a raffle, the second year we got a sulky and raffled a sulky off, the third year we thought what could we do different, so we got a car,” Castles said. “We don’t go small, we’ve just gotten bigger every year, and that’s what’s happened this year.

“We got the boys involved. Everyone went out and got themselves a sponsor, got a pair of pink pants made with their sponsor’s name and it’s great, so they’re driving in them for the month of May.”

Sunday will be a great day’s racing with special rugs awarded to race winners and many giveaways and fundraising activities.

It will all be captured live and free on Trots Vision at thetrots.com.au, with Toby McKinnon and Nikkita Ross to host all the activities and be joined by caller Lachie McIntosh.
