Track talk: Annual HRV conference a success

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) hosted the annual Track Managers Conference at Tabcorp Park Melton yesterday, with over 60 people in attendance from all over Victoria, Tasmania and New Zealand.

The informative and interactive conference was designed by HRV’s Manager of Development and Infrastructure, Rob Pongho, with topics covered including track maintenance and design, track materials, track preparation, track machinery and animal welfare.

“Track managers are often the forgotten heroes in our sport with the continuous pressure to provide an even and safe surface for our participants,” HRV Racing General Manager Stephen Bell said.

“I want to congratulate Rob on an outstanding job in organising and conducting the conference, ensuring we are continually informing our track managers of best practice.”

One of the special guests on the day was high-profile meteorologist and weather presenter Jane Bunn, whose presentation proved incredibly educational.

It was a day to remember for Aaron Dunn. Not only did he go back-to-back from last year to this year in the Matthews Petroleum Hamilton Pacing Cup, he also trained the quinella, with Forty Love taking the honours and last year’s winner Dee Roe finishing second, driven by Jackie Barker.
