Flojos to bring her Best in the midday sun at Melton Entertainment Park

With the sun beaming down on Melton this Friday afternoon, Mark Watson will be hoping Flojos Best can continue her progressive rise as a juvenile.

The daughter out of Flojos Gold will head into Friday’s Alabar Vicbred Platinum Homegrown Classic for two-year-old fillies fresh off a win at Mildura under the care of Mark’s dad, Ian.

“I have only had her for a couple of weeks – she is my dad’s (Ian Watson) horse in Mildura,” Mark Watson said.

“She had a trial last week and has worked well this week.”

Watson, 54, believes the filly by Betting Line has continued to progress and will need some time to mature.

“She will be a much better horse in six-months” Watson said.

“My father went overseas back in May and I had her then and she has improved between now and then.”

“She will be with me for this series and then maybe one more run and then she will head to the paddock for a few months.”

Ellen Tormey is set to pilot the filly who has drawn six for Friday afternoon’s $8,000 event.

“It is only a small (six horse) field and she has drawn bad but she will go well,” Watson said.

The first heat of the  Alabar Vicbred Platinum Homegrown Classic for two-year-old fillies will see the Emma Stewart-trained Ill Be Gone start a hot favourite.

The first and second heat of the Alabar Vicbred Platinum Homegrown Classic are set to go at 1.13pm and 1.48pm respectively.

The $25,000 final will be held at Melton on Saturday, December 21.
