LET IT RIDE – Multi plays with Tim O’Connor

Tim O’Connor has jumped in this week to replace Ryan Phelan, who every Saturday hunts for the most reliable locks to strengthen your multi bets.

By analysing race maps, sectional times, and key trainer/driver combinations to add confidence and a touch of excitement to your harness racing, thoroughbred, or sports multis.

Each selection is rated with low, medium, or high confidence and includes a suggested place or win price. The goal? Minimise risk, maximise consistency, and stack the odds in your favour for a strong overall return.

R1 – 6.05pm – IRT FREE FOR ALL – 1720m

1/3 Bettor Isolate – Matthew Craven/Amy Day

Confident Bettor Isolate finds the pegs and probably ends up leader’s back behind Keayang Tokyo. He’s flying of late and has a great turn of foot, so I think he should be running top three despite the hot field.

Confidence: Medium       Rated place price: $1.50

R2 – 6.39pm – CNC ROUTER BITS PACE – 1720m

2/5 Operative Line – Rebecca East/James Herbertson

Not sure this bloke is flying, but think he will find the front and be able to get a good trip on the pegs. Should be able to run a drum.

Confidence: Low              Rated place price: $1.50

R3 – 7.06pm – MELTON FIRE BRIGADE 90 YEARS TROT – 2240m

3/4 A True Story – David Harris/Kerryn Manning

Declaring a small ownership share in Imperial Command here, but tipping A True Story. He chased home nicely for third behind the very handy Lady Vici last time out and looked like fighting out the finish prior to that but struck trouble and galloped on the corner. Tough race, but happily on top.

Confidence: Low              Rated place price: $2.50

R4 – 7.43pm – RENOWN SILVERWARE PACE – 2240m

4/11 Ruff Nutt – Aaron Dunn/Aaron Dunn

Super win last time and in a race of a few chances, this guy looks the safest of plays to run a place.

Confidence: Medium       Rated place price: $1.30

R5 – 8.13pm – SHARPS BAKERY TROTTERS FREE FOR ALL – 1720m

5/5 Im Bobby – Eddie Tappe/James Herbertson

Just airborne this bloke and can lay claim to being the most improved horse in Victoria. Looks to have the speed to lead and it’s hard to see how they beat him on current form.

Confidence: Medium       Rated win price: $1.75

R6 – 8.41pm – BENSTUD STANDARDBREDS YOUTHFUL STAKES (2YO COLTS & GELDINGS) – 1720m

6/2 Usyk – Russell Jack/Nathan Jack

I’m tipping Island Yankee on top, but stablemate Usyk does look likely to find the fence here and should be good enough to run first or second.

Confidence: Low              Rated place price $1.50

R7 – 9.15pm – BENSTUD STANDARDBREDS YOUTHFUL STAKES (2YO FILLIES) – 1720m

7/6 Cyclone Jenni – Gary and Debbie Quinlan/Chris Alford

Heads to her debut on the back of a super trial at Melton and I think she’ll be too good for this lot.

Confidence: High              Rated win price: $1.40

R8 – 9.43pm – PRYDES EASIFEED PACE – 2240m

8/9 Stormryder – Emma Stewart/Ryan Sanderson

Stormryder was disappointing first-up at Melton a couple of weeks ago, but he can improve sharply here and should be running first or second in this contest.

Confidence: Medium       Rated place price: $1.10

R9 – 10.10pm – LOGICAL STAFFING SOLUTIONS PACE – 2240m

9/5 Go Miki – Emma Stewart/Ryan Sanderson

Go Miki is a powerhouse three-year-old who has been ultra-impressive in all three runs this campaign. Staggered if he got beat.

Confidence: High              Rated win price: $1.10

** A betting unit is typically a percentage of the total bankroll or the amount of money you are willing to risk on a particular bet – for example 1 unit is 10% of your bankroll, therefore with a $100 bankroll 1 unit equals $10.
