GOODFORM – Bronte’s best for Vicbred heats at Bendigo

Victoria’s premier breeding and racing showcase is back, with the first heats of the Vicbred Super Series, proudly sponsored by Australian Pacing Gold, commencing tonight. The two-year-olds will battle it out at Bendigo. Bronte Nieuwenburg has done the form, and here are her tips and selections for the meeting.

R1 – 6.30pm – APG Yearling Sales Vicbred Super Series (2yo Colts & Geldings) (1st Heat) – 2150m

4 – Le Cardinal

1 – Major Blitz

5 – Usyk

8 – Sols Me Name

Le Cardinal was eye-catching on debut on October 28. The well-bred Captaintreacherous colt chased down the talented Most Exciting late, covering an extra 23 metres. His sectionals were outstanding, especially considering it was his first start. He’ll only improve from the run and looks to be an exciting horse for the future.

BACK: 4 Le Cardinal – 3 units (win)

R2 – 7.00pm – APG Yearling Sales Vicbred Super Series (2yo Fillies) (1st Heat) – 2150m

4 – Ride The Rhythm

8 – Hilltop Blossom

3 – Captain Molly

2 – Sweet Irish Loch

R3 – 7.30pm – APG Yearling Sales Vicbred Super Series (2yo Colts & Geldings) (2nd Heat) – 2150m

5 – Soho Park Avenue

7 – Cardigan Dan

6 – Eyeneedthat

2 – Out To Stay

This is a standout field of two-year-olds, so it’s hard to pick just one, but Soho Park Avenue is fit and in form. He was the last-start winner of the IRT Shakamaker Classic on Victoria Cup Night and looks a talented type. If he gets a good trip, he’ll be the one to beat.

BACK: 5 Soho Park Avenue – 2 units (win)

R4 – 8.00pm – APG Yearling Sales Vicbred Super Series (2yo Colts & Geldings) (3rd Heat) – 2150m

10 – Moonlight Moth

3 – Soho Trump

1 – Soho Washington

9 – Not Guilty

R5 – 8.30pm – APG Yearling Sales Vicbred Super Series (2yo Fillies) (2nd Heat) – 2150m

7 – Arrhythmia

2 – Myras Mint

6 – Conciliate

10 – Eyesealittle

Arrhythmia is first-up in 116 days, but she’s an unbeaten filly rejoining the Emma Stewart stable after a Tasmanian campaign. She’s looking to make it five wins in a row, and her personal times are the best in this field. Despite a tricky barrier, she looks the one to beat.

BACK: 7 Arrhythmia – 3 units (win)

R6 – 9.08pm – APG Yearling Sales Vicbred Super Series (2yo Fillies) (3rd Heat) – 2150m

10 – Pre Eminant

9 – My Bettor Half

1 – Believeitor Not

6 – Fiction File

R7 – 9.44pm – APG Yearling Sales Vicbred Super Series (2yo Colts & Geldings) (4th Heat) – 2150m

5 – Seaside Boy

3 – Most Exciting

1 – Soho Charmer

6 – Snippet

R8 – 10.19pm – Prydes Easifeed 71st Anniversary Cup – 2150m

1 – Platinum Jive

4 – Can Be A Ruebe

3 – Cee Cee Lou

6 – Triple Rock Saint

R9 – 10.46pm – Bendigo Locksmiths Maiden Trot – 1650m

9 – Frikshyn

7 – Illuminance

1 – In High Places

12 – Perpetual

This is a trot race full of talent but also poor manners. Many of the best-performed trotters in this field can do things wrong, including Frikshyn. He was impressive first-up last start for top trotting trainer Chris Svanosio, galloping at the start but still hitting the line well. He’ll take improvement from that run, and if he trots throughout, he’ll be a top chance.

BACK: 9 Frikshyn – 2 units (win)

** A betting unit is typically a percentage of the total bankroll or the amount of money you are willing to risk on a particular bet – for example 1 unit is 10% of your bankroll, therefore with a $100 bankroll 1 unit equals $10.
