GOODFORM – Bronte’s best at Bendigo Wednesday

Bronte Nieuwenburg has done the form for Wednesday at Bendigo.

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: This looks like a fantastic, competitive trot to open the card at Bendigo. TICTOK (12) is a smart trotter with high speed. She won her last start over this track and distance, sustaining a strong run and proving far too good. It is an awkward barrier here, but she is full of confidence and has the best sectional times in this event. KARBINE (9) has been in great form, winning three of his past five starts. He was racing very well until last start, where he appeared to go a little amiss. The stable reported that was due to backing up quickly to race twice in the week, and he has since had more than a week between runs. He should be back to his best and has a good barrier to follow through into a forward position. A TRUE STORY (10) is yet to win in 13 starts since arriving in Australia from New Zealand. However, he has not had the best luck and has shown ability when he trots throughout. Last start he had no clear running late, but looked like he was going to smash the line. BULLAPARK BENO (5) is a competitive horse who is always thereabouts when he has some luck. With some of the main rivals drawn on the back row, he could get a head start here. Also respecting the smart and progressive THE ITALIAN DREAM (4) and KYVALLEY JUDGE (13).

BACK: TICTOK (12) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: TICTOK (12), KARBINE (9), A TRUE STORY (10), BULLAPARK BENO (5)

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: GOZO MAJOR (6) has been racing well and has the best sectional times in this event. He hit the line well for third last start and won when leading at Ararat the start prior. He will just need to overcome the awkward barrier here. SALSBOY (5) is an experienced performer who can perform well with some luck. He has good gate speed and should be able to find a suitable position. SHEZABLUECHIP (3) is second up here. In her first-up run she was beaten 11.5 metres after having a tough trip. She should improve from that performance. DREAMTIME NALA (4) is a Sweet Lou-sired mare who is first up in Victoria for Bendigo local trainer Mick Carbone, who currently has a strong 19 per cent winning strike rate this season. Star reinsman James Herbertson takes the drive. She may appreciate the change in scenery.

BACK: GOZO MAJOR (6) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: GOZO MAJOR (6), SALSBOY (5), SHEZABLUECHIP (3), DREAMTIME NALA (4)

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: This trot features a few runners that have shown promise but can often gallop in running, so manners will be important. MISS KOMMUNICATION (3) has had five starts for three seconds, with her other two runs ending in gallops. Last start she galloped but still managed to hit the line well for fourth. If she trots throughout, she will be right in this. EL UNO (4) is having his fourth start back after nearly two years on the sidelines. He has ability and should not remain a maiden much longer. He has the gate speed to map forward here. MI BOW (1) is one of the safest and most reliable trotters in this field, and has enough gate speed to hold a forward position on the fence. ALDEBARAN SARIAH (9) is more experienced than some of these rivals. She will need luck, but has a suitable barrier to follow through from. Also respecting the lightly raced SEBS GAL (8) and ISTANBUL (10), who were both much improved at their last starts when doing everything right.

SELECTIONS: MISS KOMMUNICATION (3), EL UNO (4), MI BOW (1), ALDEBARAN SARIAH (9)

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: TIVOLI (8) is a smart, progressive mare. She had no clear running late last start but looked like she would have hit the line strongly if the gaps had come. The start prior she smashed the line to win. She has been a bit unlucky recently, which explains her up-and-down numerical form, but she is racing well. KYRGIOS (3) won well to get back into the winners’ circle last start. This is a step up in class, but he has been racing well. SHAQ (2) has been racing a bit better than his form suggests on paper. He had a tough run from barrier 12 last start. Here he has barrier two and should not get as far back in the run. LORIMER MAJOR (1) is also racing on Tuesday at Shepparton, so will need to back up well. However, he is an experienced horse with gate speed and should map well here. Also respecting OUTBACK QUEENIE (6), who has strong winning form but will need to step up in class from an awkward barrier.

BACK: TIVOLI (8) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: TIVOLI (8), KYRGIOS (3), SHAQ (2), LORIMER MAJOR (1)

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: ROBERT JOHN (7) has been racing well and has brilliant gate speed to be able to get forward here. It is not the toughest field, but he will need a bit of luck. JOE LOU (4) has the best sectional times in this event, so if he maps well, he is a chance. His manners are also a query. RASENGAN (2) may be able to cross to the fence with his gate speed and, if the race is run to suit, he is a first four chance. BETSY ANNE (1) has a good barrier here. James Herbertson takes the drive and has a good record aboard the Nick Youngson-trained runners.

SELECTIONS: ROBERT JOHN (7), JOE LOU (4), RASENGAN (2), BETSY ANNE (1)

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: WHERE IS WOODY (2) is always hitting the line strongly. Two starts back, he made a run from near last on the fence at Melton to finish second. He will be flashing home again here and should not get as far back from barrier two. TO THE NINES (4) is a competitive horse who is always thereabouts. He has not finished outside the top five in any of his starts this year. He often races at Mildura, but gets his second look at Bendigo here and may appreciate the change in scenery. SHAZZA LOVE (1) has won two of her last three starts when leading. She finds a suitable race here to continue with her favourable racing pattern. GUNFORHIRE (7) has an outstanding turn of foot when saved for one run. He showed that last start on a Saturday night at Melton when he produced a brilliant finishing burst to win. DRESSED IN GOLD (6) is a horse to keep an eye on early, as he can show brilliant gate speed.

BACK: WHERE IS WOODY (2) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: WHERE IS WOODY (2), TO THE NINES (4), SHAZZA LOVE (1), GUNFORHIRE (7)

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: JILLIBY ILLUSION (9) on national ratings, is significantly the highest-rated horse in this field and gets into the race with a concession driver’s claim. Although she is a little out of form, she has ability and a suitable barrier to follow through early. Her personal times are notably the best in this field. TRYX VIXEN (4) is first up here, but she was in flying form before going for a freshen-up, finishing in the top three at her last seven starts. She has a great turn of foot and Glenn Bull’s team is racing really well. COLORADO GIRL (3) has brilliant gate speed and should be able to take advantage of mapping well from her draw. BETTORSWEETVICTORY (6) has been racing in career-best form this year. Her barrier is awkward, but if she can slot into a good position she will be flashing home. Also noting SHE REALLY MATTERS (8), who is first up here for new trainer Michael Laugher and may show a change in form.

BACK: JILLIBY ILLUSION (9) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: JILLIBY ILLUSION (9), TRYX VIXEN (4), COLORADO GIRL (3), BETTORSWEETVICTORY (6)

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: MISTER JIMARINGLE (1) was checked and broke two starts ago when finishing 11th. Outside of that run, he has been racing well. Barrier one suits and gives him options early. MICHEN ROY (2) is a versatile horse who can do some work in his races. He is unlikely to have enough gate speed to cross to the front, but should be able to map forward. OH SWEET CREATURE (5) is a 13-time winner who has the best sectional times in this field. He has an awkward barrier, but is a winning chance here. ASSIGNED (3) is a lightly raced gelding who is second up this year. He will improve from his solid first-up performance when fourth. His two career wins have both come with James Herbertson in the sulky, and he reunites with him here.

SELECTIONS: MISTER JIMARINGLE (1), MICHEN ROY (2), OH SWEET CREATURE (5), ASSIGNED (3)
