All Victorian trial fields will be prepared and published by Harness Racing Victoria’s Racing Office from September 1 to deliver a consistent statewide approach to trials administration.
The transition from club-based preparation will ensure all trials are published on harness.org.au and incorporated into each horse’s form, providing greater transparency and more information for punters, owners and participants.
Should participants have specific requests or input to be considered, they should note that in the comments section when nominating on HarnessWeb or to the Racing Office via phone (8378 0291) or email (racing@hrv.org.au).
Participants are encouraged to nominate their intended drivers where possible to assist the Racing Office to allocate horses to trials, in particular to advise whether stablemates of the same classification need to be separated or can go in together with different drivers.
HRV’s Racing Office will endeavour to liaise with participants when compiling fields to get the most suitable outcomes. Once fields have been finalised, no changes will be permitted between trials without the Racing Office’s approval. Participants should not approach club staff or volunteers to move their horses to different trials.
Unless stated otherwise, trial closing times will be:
- Trials at race meetings – 12:00 pm business day prior
- Day trials – 12:00 pm business day prior
- Night trials – 8:30 am the morning of
Participants are reminded to check the meeting calendar for closing times for each set of trials.
Participants should continue to submit trial scratchings and driver changes through HarnessWeb once fields are published.

The Vicbred Vouchers ownership and breeding incentive awards $5000 vouchers on select races, thanks to the State Government’s Victorian Racing Industry Fund. The $5000 vouchers can be used towards:
- Purchasing a Vicbred Pure or Vicbred Platinum nominated yearling at the Nutrien or Australian Pacing Gold Victorian standardbred yearling sales;
- Or compensating a service by a Victorian registered sire, subject to the mare being inseminated and foaled down in Victoria.
Breeders also get a direct boost, with the Vicbred Super Series heats, semi-finals, finals, and consolations awarding $5000 vouchers to the winning breeder as well as $5000 vouchers to the winning owner.
