OVERVIEW: Newly-crowned Victorian 2YO Pacing Filly of the Year ARRHYTHMIA (1) returns here and she might be able to start her campaign with victory from the good draw. She has had a couple of nice enough trials ahead of this assignment – including a narrow defeat by champion trotter Keayang Zahara at Terang – and if she can hold out the challengers early, she will be awfully hard to run down. This is a good race with some quality, including NEW SHUFFLE (4) who has won both his runs back in the care of Phil Chircop in commanding fashion. ALWAYS BE BLAKEY (9) was a stunning winner from last at Melton on April 4 and all his form this time is great, DAY TWO (8) maps for a nice trip on the pegs and FOLLOWTHEACE (6) put in a shocker last time, but was a good winner before that from the front and does have gate speed.

OVERVIEW: WILLOWS GIRL (7) heads to this assignment on the back of a brilliant victory in the Group 2 Gold Bracelet Final at Bathurst, and despite the tricky draw she goes on top. She looks to have come back as a handy three-year-old and while it won’t be easy from outside the front row, she might just have too much class for this field. The unbeaten IM DOWNBYTHEBEACH (6) worked forward and won on Australian debut last week at Melton. If he can find the top here, he will be hard to beat. LOU WILL (4) took a trail on IM DOWNBYTHEBEACH (6) last time and wasn’t far away in fourth, and chased home the in-form Cardigan Dan with the same trip before that. His chances rest in getting to the fence at the start. KIA ORA BEAUTY (9), BLACKJACK WHACKO (11) and IN AN IDEAL WORLD (12) look best of the rest.

OVERVIEW: Intriguing contest between the trotters that have not yet won a $15k race before, with THE PRIESTESS (1) marginally favoured from her good draw. She bounced back from a couple of poor runs with a dominant display from the top at Melton last Friday and a faultless performance should see her hard to beat again. QUEEN KIZEN (8) was first-up from a break in that race and closed off really nicely from back in the field for fourth. MAC FLICK (4) was a long-odds winner from four fence last time and badly held up prior to that, while RUN FOREST RUN (2) made a blunder at Maryborough last week but was only narrowly beaten by the smart Kyvalley Judge before that and could be hard to run down in he gets to the top. SIX NATIONS (3) and ROMANTIC NINA (10) are other hopes with the right trip.

OVERVIEW: KEAYANG RENEGADE (6) looks one of the most exciting young pacers in Victoria and he produced another super performance in his heat of this series when sitting parked and powering clear of his rivals to win in a sizzling 1:52.9 mile rate. He’s unbeaten from four career starts and is expected to go on his merry way here in this final that brings together a good field following qualifiers at Echuca, Bendigo and Ballarat. MAAS BETTING AGAIN (3) won the Echuca race and has the gate speed to roll to the top again here, the smart SANCHEZ (12) sat parked and prevailed at Ballarat, as did LOUGLE (13) in the second of the heats at Bendigo when he was first-up back in the care of trainer Gerard Jamieson.

OVERVIEW: Good gate, uncontested lead, slick last half and big win. That has been the story for CARDIGAN DAN (1) in his two starts back from a spell and it looks like something similar might eventuate on Saturday night. He’s got the pole draw, looks like controlling the race and we can expect another victory here. The other class runners and key dangers appear on the back row, with SOAP AND BUBBLES (9) closing off really well for second behind Repelling a fortnight ago and having the point-to-point speed to charge into second. The beautiful grey FRUGAL FARE (10) was very brave when third in a frantic race last Friday and BIZZNESS CLASS (11) awfully unlucky after an early mistake at Mildura. The pegs, as it has been in CARDIGAN DAN’s (1) last two wins, might be the place to be, however, so MAXNJAX (8) is a must for trifectas and First 4s.

OVERVIEW: Great to see the return of last-start Breeders Crown champ KEAYANG KURKI (2) here, and she gets a great chance to make it a winning start to the campaign. She has good gate speed and might be able to lead and control this contest. She has trialled up okay for this without doing anything special and looks hard to beat. That said, this is a step-up into open-age grade and it won’t be easy. I’ll give QUIRKY CHARACTER (7) another chance given the small field and likely better trip than he’s received his past two. He’s been caught parked in slick races behind Pinnie and Lovemeto, but this shapes as more suitable. He’s a classy horse with a good finale and he could charge over the top late. BENNIE AND THE JETS (5) is flying and was a huge winner last time out, while OUR MARVELLA (3) hit the line hard for third at Maryborough latest and wouldn’t be a complete shock.

OVERVIEW: OLIVER DAN (7) hasn’t won since August 2025, but has been running in so many of the state’s big features this campaign and looks to get his chance for a long-awaited triumph here. Last week he was caught parked in a 1200m race at Melton and was only beaten 2.8m into fourth, but this appears much more suitable and he should be able to bully his way to victory. CALEXICO (5) is a smart type from the Laura Wilson stable who returns for his first run since mid-January, HES NO ROMEO (2) looks the early leader and heads here on the back of a tough win against lesser opposition at Bendigo on April 1, while the handy OUR LUCIANO (6) is first-up without a trial but did race some top-end rivals last campaign and is certainly capable in this grade.

OVERVIEW: The Lunar Lass 3YO Trot looks a great battle between two of last season’s standout juveniles in JILLIBY AURA (4) and HOWDY MATE (6). JILLIBY AURA (4) hasn’t raced since running third to Adelaide Red in the Group 1 Breeders Crown Final in December, but heads to this assignment following a very good trial win at Terang. If she leads, which I think is likely, she will be hard to run down. HOWDY MATE (6) has had two runs back and might just be a little more forward heading into this assignment. He was a great winner first-up at Melton and was perhaps a shade disappointing last time out, but did have to make a wide, sustained run three wide. IM HAVINTOTROT (3) ran home well for third in the $60,000 Gold Coronet Final at Bathurst latest, while stablemate ALDEBARAN ADA (1) matched it in the good races last campaign, but hasn’t shone at the trials ahead of her return.

OVERVIEW: Looks speed aplenty here to start the metropolitan meeting at Bendigo, where we see a quality field of trotters over the 1650m trip. While it’s not certain, EL RESAMO (3) looks the most likely early leader, but he will probably cop some pressure given so many fast beginners around him. He was great sitting parked when third in the Terang Trotters Cup last time out and should run well if he finds the top, but I’m gravitating towards the back row runners. LOVEMETO (10) worked forward and found the front last start at Melton, then powered clear to beat five rivals that reoppose here. He is going really well and I’ll side with him given the likely hot tempo. Reigning Victorian 3YO Trotting Filly of the Year TRACY THE JET (9) is back following a New Zealand campaign that reaped victory in The Ascent slot race during November and she looks one of the country’s more exciting trotters, GOTFEELINGSYOUKNOW (5) broke through for a much-deserved victory at Menangle last weekend and is right in this, while most others wouldn’t surprise, including the first-up KEAYANG STUKA (4) and REMUS PHOENIX (7), who is flying but has a bad gate.
BACK: LOVEMETO (10) – 1.5 units (each-way)
