OVERVIEW: SEASIDE BOY (1) gets the inside gate and maps to lead or be leader’s back on a track that really suits those on the fence. His first-up win at Maryborough last week wasn’t anything amazing, but he showed good speed to lead and was soft on the line. His debut victory, however, was brilliant. There, he sat parked and won powering clear in a 1:52.8 mile rate. For that, he goes on top. There’s plenty of others to consider, though. HEATSEEKER (7) won twice impressively from the front at Charlton and Ballarat before going down narrowly in good time at Bendigo recently. The draw hurts, but the right trip would have him in this. LAMBRO MACH (4) ran another good race for third behind Im Downbythebeach last Friday and he’s crying out to win one, while WILD CARD (8) should be thereabouts with a nice trailing draw behind the top pick and likely favourite.

OVERVIEW: BAR TAB (6) was sent back to the trials after a disappointing display at Maryborough, but her prior performance when beating STEADY DREAM (4) at Melton was very good. She’s a horse with some ability and her best might be too good for this grade despite a tricky draw. SCAR (6) is a very risky trotter but also very capable in this grade. Last week as an odds-on favourite he made a break down the back straight and did a huge job to finish sixth, beaten 17.4m. Before that, he was run down late by Paris Kay at Cranbourne. If he trots the whole way, he will be right in this. NIGHT FLIGHT (1) was hemmed away on the fence last time, but is going well and gets the nice draw, while MAGIC LAW (2) has gate speed and would be a place chance along with all of the others if he got to the fence.

OVERVIEW: Looks a race in two here where MIDNIGHT MOTH (4) will likely start a short-priced favourite on debut against the first-up MATRIARCH DAISY (7). MIDNIGHT MOTH (4) hails from the powerhouse Emma Stewart barn and warmed up for his debut with a dominant Terang trial victory on March 31. The time wasn’t overly slick, but the performance was good and we know how amazing this stable is with young horses. MATRIARCH DAISY (7) has been extremely impressive in two Bacchus Marsh trial wins and has the experience of one race start where she got home nicely from the back to finish fifth at Melton in September. The rest are all capable of filling the placings, but a win would surprise.

OVERVIEW: This looks a good assignment for BINALONG NIGHT (4) to land a third win since joining the Robert McCartney barn. He’s been in great form with two wins and a last-start second at Ballarat when he boxed on well after racing exposed in the chair for a good portion of that race. If he finds the top here, he looks very hard to run down on current form. REALLY REALLY (7) is a quirky customer who can make mistakes in his races but has ability and is worth keeping safe, ICANMOTOR (3) hasn’t done much this campaign but his form late last preparation was tip-top and CALEDONIAN TERRA (1) can improve from the peg-line draw.

| 7 | 120s12 | FIGHTER COMMAND Dr: Jason Lee | Jess Tubbs | Jason Lee | 3 | $2.2 |
OVERVIEW: Cracking edition of the Geelong Rocket where I’m siding with FIGHTER COMMAND (7). He’s come back a beast this campaign, with a brilliant first-up win over Bulletproof Boy followed by a super runner-up effort last time when he did well to finish so close to that aforementioned rival given the early sectionals. He’s flying, the small field suits and I think he can round up the field late to score. MY ULTIMATE BARNEY (5) is back from a NSW hit-and-run mission, looks the likely leader and from there will be hard to run down, top mare BEACH DIAMOND (6) returns from a ripping three-year-old season where she won a number of big features and JUSTALITTLESIP (4) is going well but is probably a place chance at best.

OVERVIEW: MOUNT BARKER BOY (6) has won both his starts this campaign and is favoured to complete the hat-trick despite the wide gate. He heads to Geelong after a heat and final victory at Bendigo and Melton where he won in dominant fashion. FICTION FILE (2) hasn’t set the world on fire at the trials ahead of her return, but she’s a nice filly who did compete well through the Vicbred Super Series as a two-year-old before a spell. She looks the key danger. GIDGETT KAY (3) was an impressive debut winner at Menangle before finishing well back behind MOUNT BARKER BOY (6) at Bendigo, while BAKERS BANDIT (4) is next best but victory would surprise.

OVERVIEW: COLTRANE (1) has his tricks, but looks to be a pretty progressive trotter for the Jess Tubbs stable. He broke his maiden in incredible style after galloping at Ballarat at March 19, then came from well back under little driving to win again at Terang. He looked to be travelling into the race nicely at Maryborough last time out, but copped some interference and then eventually broke. The pole draw is some concern given an apparent lack of gate speed, but if he trots the whole way he should give this a real shake. Local trotter LEANNE LEEANN (2) is racing really well for veteran horseman Bob Kuchenmeister and ran a great second to the handy The Priestess last Friday, JACK SPRAT (10) was sixth in that same race but was off the fence there and some prior form is good, while KARAKAJACK TOOTH (8) beat COLTRANE (1) last time out at Maryborough and is perhaps the next best of the chances along with TICTOK (9) and SHES SKY HIGH (6).
