OVERVIEW: BINALONG MATE (9) is a progressive horse from the Chris Svanosio stable. He hit the line well last start when second at Melton, first up after a freshen-up, and will have improved from that run. Despite his short career, he already has the best sectional times in this event. BETATHANABOUGHTONE (6) has been eye-catching since joining the Mick Carbone stable. Forget last start where she was checked, her prior runs were very strong. WAZOWSKI (10) is ultra-consistent, finishing in the top four in nine of his past 10 starts. He will need luck from the barrier but is good enough to be very competitive. BELLA LOUISE (11) is a smart, well-bred mare from the Jayne Davies stable. She raced roughly last start at Ballarat, something she has done previously, but she has ability and will be better with time.

OVERVIEW: The experienced and consistent REGAL ROCK (9) gets the ideal barrier to follow through and settle into a forward position. He has the best sectional times here and has options to make his own luck. ZU HOFFEN (4) returned to the winner’s circle last start at Melton and will take confidence into this. The way he hit the line was impressive and if he can land in a striking position, he will be strong late. MISS PIGGY WIGGY (8) has been in career best form this campaign and is worth sticking with while racing well. She has a sharp sprint and if she gets a clear gap late, she will be flashing home. ARE WEASLEY (7) has the second-best sectional times in this event. He was good first up last start and will improve from that run, but will need luck from the draw.

OVERVIEW: ALDEBARAN BUDDY (5) has been racing well and looks close to returning to the winner’s circle. Two starts back at Bendigo he finished second and couldn’t quite reel in the experienced Black And Gold late. Last start he was stuck on the fence and raced keenly. James Herbertson takes the drive and he looks ready to win. MACHO MAORI (1) has been racing solidly and has the barrier to take advantage of here, with enough gate speed to hold a forward position. KENNYWOULD (8) hasn’t won for some time but is racing better than his form suggests and with luck can be competitive. KYVALLEY MISTY (10) has ability but her manners are often the issue. She trotted throughout last start which was encouraging, and if she stays trotting she’s a winning chance, though still a risk.

OVERVIEW: KEAYANG ALABAMA (2) is a well-bred first starter from the Lee stable. She won a recent Terang trial and has an ideal barrier to use to her advantage. STEEL MIKI (6) was eye-catching in a recent trial when second behind talented runner I Sea Red, coming home with a solid final quarter. He clearly has ability but is still learning and should continue to improve. LIBERTY STAR DUST (8) is another first starter who has impressed in trials, winning at Geelong before finishing a strong third at Melton behind Eyeneedthat and Out To Stay. He has ability but will need luck from the barrier. TRYX VIXEN (4) is the most experienced runner in the field, stepping out for the 20th time. She has placed in her past five starts and is getting very close to breaking through for her maiden win.

OVERVIEW: SPIRIT OF SAHARA (6) is a good performer with the clear best recent sectional times in this event. He was eye-catching two starts back at Charlton when sustaining a long run without cover and still finishing strongly into second, despite racing an extra 25 metres and being beaten just 1.1 metres. The barrier is tricky, but with luck he’s the one to beat. MONSIEUR FLAMEL (5) is a last-start winner at Charlton and is well experienced in concession driver races. He was in strong form late last year and appears to be getting back to that level. FEEL THE REIGN (9) is in flying form having won his past two starts. Despite being an 11-year-old, he continues to flash home strongly and should again be in a striking position. PISTOL PEARCE (7) was a good winner at Melton three starts back and has ability when at his best. He has stable respect from the Andy Gath camp.

OVERVIEW: WHATS THE TEA (8) is an experienced trotter at this grade who always tries his best and races well for James Herbertson. He has the best sectional times in this event but will need luck from the awkward barrier. GUNSEN ROSIE (2) was improved last start when finishing second at Maryborough. She has gate speed and if she can get forward, he will be hard to catch. ALDEBARAN MAVERICK (7) raced well without cover last start and still finished solidly into fourth. He is racing better than his form suggests but will need luck here. LITTLE TEDDY (5) hasn’t had the best of luck recently and has been racing in stronger company. This is a drop in class and he can be competitive in a more suitable race.

OVERVIEW: CRUSHER CLYDE (6) has been outstanding in his short career, with four starts for a win in New Zealand and two unbeaten runs in Australia for the Lee stable. He has the 30-metre handicap, but so do his main rivals, and all his runs have been from the stand, so he is confident in this scenario. He looks a quality type. EL CONQUEROR (5) has won two Country Trotting Cups since arriving in Australia last October and is proven at this level. KYVALLEY MICHAEL (2) is a high-quality trotter who has raced consistently at a strong level throughout his career. He is third up and nearing peak fitness, with James Herbertson taking the drive for the first time. KEAYANG GUCCI (7) has often been overshadowed by her superstar stablemates, but she’s a quality mare in her own right and with the right run can be a threat.

OVERVIEW: NOBLE COUNT (13) has the best recent form in this event, but also the most challenging barrier. Happy to stick with him regardless. He has the best sectional times and will need to take advantage of that form to make his own luck here. DESERT ASSASSIN (5) has gate speed and the potential to use that to his advantage. If he can get forward, he will be hard to catch. MONTY MONTE (12) is a former New South Wales trotter making his debut for Andy Gath, who has a strong record with new trotters. He will need to navigate the tricky barrier but is one not to leave out. BUSLIN BRODY (1) will need to be at his best, but when he is, he can run along well and has the ace draw to use to his advantage.
