A couple of fast finishers caught the eye and made their way into the Trial File Blackbook this week.

TERANG 07/03/20
Trial 1: - LAVAUGHN made a mistake at her debut but she has been going very nicely at the trials with a victory at Geelong followed by her victory in this event. She recorded reasonable time and defeated the star trotter SPARKLING SUCCESS, which is on the comeback trail with BLUE VEIN FITZ finishing in third. LAVAUGHN and BLUE VEIN FITZ are racing in the same race at Melton this afternoon. WEERROOK BUDDY (Shadyshark Hanover – Tartan Dynasty) finished last of the four runners but was the only horse in the trial that hadn’t raced previously.

Trial 2: - SARA INGOT was stood down to trial after doing things wrong when resuming at Stawell. She defeated JILLIBY MONKEY, which hasn’t started since December 2018. The two 3yo trotters DOUBLE HELIX and GOOD QUESTION ANGE (Danny Bouchea – Glory Salute) were third and fourth respectively.

Trial 3: - ARCHLEO hasn’t started since running fifth in the Breeders Crown Final in August. He is a very talented trotter and was able to take out the final trial by a comfortable margin. Trainer Paddy Meade prepared the remaining three horses with MAORI AMOUR finishing second ahead of the unraced performers IPSEY WIPSY (Yankee Spider – Fire Chase 2.7.5, $12,025) and KAYLASISTER (Majestic Son – Decisive Dash).

CRANBOURNE 07/03/20
Trial 1: - CAPTAIN BELLASARIO (Captaintreacherous – Bellasario 1.55.5, $71,704) trailed the leader and gained a run through the middle in the initial stages of the front straight when he was able to accelerate nicely to score albeit in slow time. SONNYS AMAZING (Bettors Delight – Amazing Ellen) remained out wider on the track early, slotted in to be last of the three and following the markers before coming to the outside with 400m remaining. He went quite wide on the home turn but was able to run into second position. MASTER REMI (Somebeachsomewhere – Our Little Artist 1.58.1, $57,040) led and dropped back to be last of the three horses in the latter stages but he was never allowed to stride at any stage of the event.

Trial 2: - APOLLO ROCK charged across the face of the field to find the lead in the early stages and dominated the proceedings. GRESHAR had every chance on the back of APOLLO ROCK throughout and ended up being beaten by eight metres at the finish. GROOM came from four back on the markers to pick up third in front of ORMOND BLUES and the trotter BUNDISGOOD was last of the five runners throughout.

Trial 3: - MISTER RICHARD CEE (Down Under Muscles – Brockovich 2.8.2, $4,773) was able to take out the final trial but it was merely an exercise with a mile rate of 2.30.6! The 2yo trotters ALDEBARAN MY (Father Patrick – Aldebaran Daisy 2.0.2, $39,099) and SOVEREIGN TIGER (Majestic Son – Dawn Tears 2.2.0, $36,668) finished second and third respectively.

MARYBOROUGH 08/03/20
Trial 1: - HASHTAG was clearly the class runner of the trial and was entitled to win, which he did by a comfortable margin. He settled last of the three runners, moved to the outside with 450m remaining and sprinted home too well. REBECCAS ART trailed the leader, allowed HASHTAG to get around her approaching the home turn and tried to chase. She got up in time for second with the early leader GOTTAHAVEHOBBIE finishing last of the three runners.

Trial 2: - ALEPPO MURPHY did have a lot of class on his rivals and waltzed away to win easily. He settled down last of the five, moved away from the inside at the half mile marker, gained cover behind BEWARE THE FURY and was able to get inside of that trotter to pursue the leader before asserting his superiority to win by a big space. THE NIGHT KING was able to run to the front shortly after the start and established a handy lead in the back straight on the final occasion but couldn’t repel the firepower of ALEPPO MURPHY. BEWARE THE FURY finished in third position after settling three back on the markers and moving to the outside with 650m remaining. MISS SWEDEN (Majestic Son – Zoia Boko) was four back on the markers throughout and finished fourth ahead of ATEGO JET, which dropped out after trailing the leader.

Trial 3: - QUAKER MAKER (Quaker Jet – Gay Truscott) settled three back on the markers, came to the outside at the 500m mark and was able to get the better of the early leader CEEJAY SUCCESS over the latter stages. ZINGARA LASS trailed the leader throughout and finished in a distant third. RYMES (Majestic Son – Genayas Girl) missed in the score up and lost approximately 30m, was able to tack onto the group turning into the back straight on the final occasion then made an error and was tailed off for the remainder of the trial.

Trial 4: - PURSUITOFHAPPYNESS settled three back on the markers and moved up without cover with 500m remaining. She was able to get the better of the early leader NAI HARN BAY (Somebeachsomewhere – Bring Her Back) over the final stages. ORBIE settled four back on the markers and finished third ahead of TISEH MURRAY, which trailed the leader and BABY GINNIE (Always A Virgin – Lewartie) was last of the five runners throughout.

Trial 5: - IM LADY MADELEINE was able to zoom across to lead in the early stages and never looked like being beaten. She raced to an easy victory ahead of SMOOTH ROLLING (Rock N Roll Heaven – Smooth Pink 1.59.9, $18,646), which trailed her throughout and DANCEFORME (A Rocknroll – Dance Shake It Up Baby) remained in third for the entire trip. GYPSY LEA (Julius Caesar – Secret Ruby 1.59.5, $25,528) settled down last of the four runners but paced roughly with 600m remaining and was retired from the event.

Trial 6: - JAKARRASHADOW (Shadow Play – Jakarras Spirit) settled down four back on the markers in fourth position, moved away from the inside to race without cover from the 800m mark and proved too strong when a handy winner over MAJOR BANKS, which followed her throughout (fifth markers, 1-1). LORIMERKYLIE tried to lead all of the way and finished in third position. WHERES WOOD WOOD trailed the leader and held down fourth in front of BARBADOS BABE (3 back markers).

Trial 7: - DREAM OVER stepped away well to lead, took cover behind ROI DU SOLEIL (Danny Bouchea – Rockin Wilma 2.2.9, $59,390) then moved into the death seat with 600m to run. He worked to the lead coming out of the back straight and won easily. SURBITON ARMISTICE settled three back on the inside and worked home in the latter stages to finish second ahead of ROI DU SOLEIL, which made a swift move from approximately 30m behind the leader DREAM OVER early to take over the front running role at the 1200m mark. He tired late but was able to hold down third. SHIPS SUCCESS was fourth after racing four back on the markers throughout and MUSTANG KELLY (Fling It – Mustang Shelly 2.2.4, $19,480) was always a little bit detached from the pack and was fifth throughout. ALONG CAME ASPIDER galloped away and was tailed off throughout but he did make up some ground after doing a bit of chasing.

TABCORP PARK, MELTON 10/03/20
Trial 1: - Abandoned
Trial 2: - SAHARA STORM (Captaintreacherous – Sahara Sunrise 1.59.9, $15,685) settled down four back on the markers, moved up without cover from the 700m mark and was able to outstay the leader JILLIBY RETRO (Bettors Delight – Charlotte Church 1.59.2, $86,280) in the run to the finish. That pair were able to draw clear of SHEFFIELD PEAK, which led out and eventually took cover. MOMENTS LIKE THESE (Art Major – Mint Julep) settled five back on the markers and worked into fourth position. AZTERIAN (Sportswriter – Neishars Jet 2.1.9, $12,861) settled down six back on the markers and finished fifth ahead of EUROKING (Somebeachsomewhere – The Perfect Mona 2.0.3, $4,620) (3 back markers) with LA CAPTAIN (Captaintreacherous – La Machane 1.54.6, $335,268) being last of the seven runners throughout.

BLACKBOOKER: - Sahara Storm
Trial 3: - ROYAL CHARLOTTE is going very nicely at the trials and settled four back on the inside before moving into the one out and one back trail when she dashed to victory in the third event. DREAMKATCHER led and was headed on the home turn but she kept on kicking in the straight and held on for second. COCO LOMBO trailed the leader and battled on fairly for third. EMERALD STRIDE settled three back on the markers, moved up without cover at the 700m and hit the lead on the turn but galloped when in front with 100m remaining. It was going to be a good battle with ROYAL CHARLOTTE during the latter stages but she lost her chance of being in the finish with that error.

Trial 4: - NO BIGGIE settled down at the tail of the field, followed inside runs in the final circuit and got into the clear with 125m remaining when he showed very good acceleration to win the trial. ITSALLANDOVER settled three back on the markers and moved up without cover from the 700m mark. He found the lead shortly afterwards when the early front runner MY LINDY ANGELS broke stride and he looked the winner in the straight before being gunned down late. MEYDAN (Andover Hall – Showmethemaori) was one out and one back behind JAYBEEOHDEE (Angus Hall – Maori Vale 1.59.5, $35,615) and worked home quite well for third in front of DUNCANN, which trailed the leader throughout. JAYBEEOHDEE finished in fifth after doing most of the work in the run and MY LINDY ANGELS ended up finishing last after making that error in the back straight.

Trial 5: - JILLIBY ZAGAMI (American Ideal – Jilliby Daphne 1.57.3, $35,012) settled down five back on the markers, moved into the death seat at the 800m mark and was able to forge to the lead in the straight to win by a comfortable margin. HEERA RANI settled down three back on the markers, switched back to the sprint lane over the latter stages and made up ground for second. ILLAWONG PARRIS settled down in second last position and trailed up behind JILLIBY ZAGAMI. He ran into third in front of GIUSEPPE MOON, which came from last and picked up a few runners in the straight. CONFUSIONANDDELAY was four back on the markers and was able to run past the early leader MARCYS STAR and also SOMEGLITZSOMEWHERE, which trailed the leader.

Trial 6: - TEE CEE BEE MACRAY dashed to the lead in the early stages, enjoyed a lovely trip and finished off in a quick final half to win with something in reserve. PROFESSOR TOM settled down last of the four runners, came to the outside approaching the home turn and did a great job to get up and finish second ahead of DIAMONDS N CASH, which trailed the leader. ROCKABELLA STARZ was last of the four runners after being three back on the markers throughout but she wasn’t far from the winner.

Trial 7: - VOUCHERS was able to spear to the lead in the early stages of the trial and ran along at a genuine tempo. She got away on the home turn and was able to score impressively in fast time. KEAYANG CANCUN (Mach Three – Inspiring Dash) trailed the leader throughout and tried hard for second with SOEXTRA being a big third after coming from last of the six runners and making up steady ground in the final circuit. INSULTING (He’s Watching – Intoxicating 1.57.7, $79,060) settled three back on the inside and finished fourth with MISS MAKO (Shadyshark Hanover – Milliondollarsmile 2.2.7, $7,450) coming from five back on the markers to finish fifth. A ROCKNROLL WALTZ (A Rocknroll Dance – Our Waltzing Mathilda 1.57.7, $12,131) was four back on the markers for the majority of the journey and dropped out to see the field safely home in last position.

Trial 8: - AHA REACTION was caught without cover in the early stages before progressing forward to find the lead with 1500m to travel. He had a good break on the home turn and was able to hold off the late challenge of SCRUFFY MARSHALL to win. SCRUFFY MARSHALL was three back on the markers for the majority of the trial and he finished extremely quickly for an eye-catching second. BETTA BOPPER led out then took a trail and held down third position. SOMETHING FAST was four back on the markers throughout and finished ahead of the trotter MAGICOOL, which settled at the tail of the field and sectionally, his effort was good despite his finishing position.

Trial 9: - SANGREAL (Father Patrick – Solar Flash 2.1.0, $6,765) settled third on the markers and wanted to throw his head around occasionally but he remained trotting and he was fast at the end when he put his mind on the job. He appears to be a promising type. HI HO KYVALLEY (Love You – Pinevale Ellason 2.2.9, $72,300) finished second after setting the speed and WILCANNIA (Andover Hall – Wheels To Go) was third after being behind the leader and making an error on the home turn. WAR DAN STRIKES (Father Patrick – Countess Angela) was steadily away and copped a check shortly after the start. He never recovered after that and finished fourth. ALDEBARAN GWEN (Skyvalley – Aspenglow) stepped away nicely to be second early but galloped and speared towards the outside fence around the first corner. She beat home WATCH AND ACT (Skyvalley – Misty Elle), which galloped at the 1200m mark and HOTEL KYVALLEY (Father Patrick – Lindys Two Step USA) failed to finish after making several errors in the run.

BLACKBOOKER: - Sangreal
Trial 10: - ROBBIE ROYALE is a handy former New Zealand trotter and has been trialling well in preparation for his Australian debut. He trailed the leader, moved to the outside on the home turn and proved too strong in the straight. ORLANDOS PRINCESS tried to lead all of the way but couldn’t repel the challenge of ROBBIE ROYALE. She did have a good margin over the remainder of the field however. CRUISIN AROUND settled last on the markers and picked up good ground over the final 300m to finish third and was never pushed at any stage. CHATEAUBRIANT was three back on the markers throughout and beat home CHRISKEN KIOSK, which settled down fourth and broke stride at the quarter pole.

SHEPPARTON 10/03/20
Trial 1: - SPRING IN HIS STEP (Somebeachsomewhere – Summa of Dreams 1.57.5, $37,350) showed good gate speed to find the led after 150m then set up a reasonable tempo. He was hanging on down the front straight and prevailed by a narrow margin. CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (Captaintreacherous – Artistic Gal 1.59.9, $16,175) began well to get to the markers first, took cover behind SPRING IN HIS STEP and was almost able to get up on the line. MY GOLDEN EAGLE (Mach Three – Three Eagles) settled three back on the markers and remained in third position but was never pushed at any stage. MISS SPORTY LOMBO remained last of the four runners throughout.

Trial 2: - AFTER DARN trailed the leader THE TALK, came to the outside on the home turn and was able to get up and win on the line. HOLSTEIN (Major Bronski – Havilah Mistress) settled down last of the four runners, moved into the breeze at the 800m mark and hit the lead on the home turn. He was in front all of the way down the straight but was grabbed on the line. GRANDVIEW (Fly Like An Eagle – Miss North) finished third after being three back on the markers throughout and the early leader THE TALK dropped back to finish at the tail of the field.

Trial 3: - IFITSTOBEITSUPTOME (Rock N Roll Heaven – Timely Loch 1.55.3, $76,128) led comfortably and was able to sprint up nicely in the home straight to get the prize. TREASURE RAINBOW (Captaintreacherous – Angel Rainbow) trailed the leader and came to the outside at the quarter pole. She tried hard in the straight but couldn’t peg back the winner. ELECTRIC EYE (Bettors Delight – Nikalongboulevard 1.57.1, $52,835) was last of the three runners throughout.

Trial 4: - ROYAL OBSESSION was without cover in the early stages before moving forward to find the lead with 1800m remaining. He travelled strongly in the front running role and drew clear over the final stages to win easily. LAGOM settled down in sixth position and came to the extreme outside on the home turn. She finished off boldly to get into second. JULIACA was third after trailing the leader for the majority of the trip. AMBER ALERT (Mr Feelgood – Chain of Gold 1.58.7, $13,636) settled three back on the inside and moved into the death seat at the half mile marker. She finished fourth ahead of MINIKA, which settled down fifth and lost some ground at the 900m when MARLI STORM tired in front of her. STAND BY ME (Bettors Delight – Scuse Me 1.53.5, $126,841) was in fourth position for the majority of the journey and MARLI STORM (Four Starzzz Shark – Sokystorm 2.3.6, $8,038) failed to finish after racing without cover and yielding ground from the bell.

Trial 5: - SO AWESOME showed good gate speed to lead, had a good margin on the home turn and was just able to hold off the late challenge of ALDEBARAN CRESCENT in the run to the judge. ALDEBARAN CRESCENT was a big trial performance. He settled fifteen metres behind the pack by design, remained detached from the main group before making a big run from the quarter pole. He picked up many lengths on SO AWESOME and just failed to snare victory. EVERYSECONDCOUNTS began well and trailed the leader throughout. She finished third in front of BELLA CONTESSA (Imperial Count – Sunshine Paco), which settled down three back the markers and ROMANCES (Yankee Boy – The Secret Dance USA 2.6.0, $4,587) was fifth after being four back on the inside throughout. CROW POWER galloped away and was tailed off throughout.

Trial 6: - LOMBO IDLE BELIEF began swiftly and was able to run to the lead shortly after the start. He ran along at an even tempo and was able to hold on in the run to the finish. HEREHECOMES settled down sixth on the markers before moving into the running lane. He produced a big finish out wide on the track and would have scored in another few strides. MONGIANA was forced to race without cover throughout and boxed on well for third with IDEAL SUSPECT (4 back markers) being in fourth. EMERGING TALENT finished fifth after trailing the leader throughout and ROCKIN IN MEMPHIS was an eye-catching trial performance despite finishing sixth as he was flying home out wide on the track and wasn’t far away in a blanket finish. ROYAL HUSTLER was seventh after gaining a nice run in transit (5 back markers, 1-1) and AXINITE (3 back markers) dropped out to finish last in what was a strong trial to end the program. CROW POWER, which galloped away in trial five, went around again in trial six but galloped again.
