Punters are daring to dream in this year’s Del-Re National A. G. Hunter Cup with Nathan Purdon’s brilliant mare a magnet in early betting.
The Group 1 champ drew the plum gate eight in tomorrow night’s $500,000 classic, directly on the back of race favourite King Of Swing, and the TAB’s price of $5.50 was quickly snapped in.
TAB PR and Media Manager Andrew Georgiou said Amazing Dream had been $14 prior to the suspension of all-in betting, but that’s long in the past.
“Amazing Dream has been the big mover this week,” Georgiou said. “First bets rolled in 30 seconds after the new market opened and they backed her into $4.80. She’s now $3.80 with the scratching of Expensive Ego. She holds more than double what King Of Swing holds.”
King Of Swing has eased slightly from $1.85 to $.195 since opening post-draw but remains favourite, while reigning champion Lochinvar Art ($6.50 out to $7) is the best tried outside of Amazing Dream.
Others to attract interest with the TAB on tomorrow night’s outstanding 10-race card include Highway To Heaven in the Woodlands Stud Pace, with the Marg Lee pacer opening at $5.50 but backed into $2.60 to push Vilacci ($2 to $2.25) for favouritism.
Georgiou also said Our Millionaire had “been crunched” from $10 into $3.60 in the TAB The Pure Steel and Bondi Lockdown holds 75 per cent of the early money in the Group 1 DNR Logistics 4YO Bonanza, having drawn favourably from lead rival Act Now.
Tonight’s headliner, the What The Hill Great Southern Star, has also drawn plenty of interest.
In the first heat, race three on the program, punters have been drawn to veteran trotter Sundons Courage, who has firmed from $31 to $12, while in the second heat the series favourite Majestuoso ($3 into $2.70) is responsible for more than three-quarters of the early money.
